Leelee Sobieski To Star In CBS Pilot 'Rookies' Produced By Robert De Niro



EXCLUSIVE: Leelee Sobieski is set to star in CBS' drama pilot Rookies, an ensemble cop show from The Color of Money writer Richard Price, which is  executive produced by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal through their Tribeca production banner. She is the first actor cast in the James Mangold-directed pilot, about six NYPD rookies who balance their personal lives with learning the beat on the streets of Manhattan. Sobieski will play one of them, Gen (White House) Perry, a golden-haired California girl and former member of the White House Color Guard who can handle herself whether dealing with a gang-banger or a busted toilet. Rookies reunites Sobieski with CBS where she had a breakthrough performance in the TV movie Joan of Arc, which earned her an Emmy nomination, and recently guest starred on the drama The Good Wife.

Trio Joins Fox Comedy Pilot 'Council Of Dads', ABC Adds To Drama Pilot 'Partners'



EXCLUSIVE: The Job and Rescue Me alumna Diane Farr is reuniting with the two series' co-creator Peter Tolan. She is set as the female lead in Fox's comedy pilot for Fox Council of Dads. Also set as leads in the project are Patrick Breen and SAG president Ken Howard. Inspired by Bruce Feiler's non-fiction book, the pilot, which is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, tells the story of Michael who, just before he dies, enlists five of his guy friends from all aspects of his life to become a “council of dads” to his two young children. Farr will play Michael's wife, recent widow Catherine, who is absolutely intent on complying with her husband's dying wish but quickly finds out that the five guys on the Council can agree about absolutely nothing. Breen and Howard will play two of the Council's members. Howard plays Michael's dad Burt,  ex-military guy who's not to be screwed with. Breen plays Jerry, Michael's ex-therapist who serves as the "Feelings Dad" on the council. Howard, repped by Greene & Assoc. and James/Levy, won an Emmy for Grey Gardens in 2009. He recurs on 30 Rock and is filming Clint Eastwood's Hoover. Breen, repped by Gersh and A Management, had also been pursued for NBC's Smash this season. Farr's other series credits include Numbers and Californication.

The Diane Farr-Peter Tolan pairing is not the only pilot reunion today. Third Watch alum Michael Beach has been added to ABC's drama pilot Partners, which is from Third Watch co-creator/exec producer Ed Bernero. The project  is a cop drama centered on two female police detectives, Mattie (Scottie Thompson) and Jess (Annie Wersching), who are fiercely loyal to one another since they're also secretly half-sisters. Beach will play a wise-cracking detective

Tim Allen Commits To ABC Comedy Pilot



After weeks of negotiations, Tim Allen has officially come onboard ABC's comedy pilot written by Jack Burditt. The project, first known as Man Up and then renamed to The Last Day of Man, is now untitled. The multicamera show, from 20th TV and 21 Laps/Adelstein Prod., centers on a guy (Allen) fighting for his manhood in a world of women. Burditt is executive producing with Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy, Becky Clements as well as Allen and his managers Richard Baker and Rick Messina. The project landed at ABC in November with a pilot commitment with Allen loosely attached. If it goes to series, it would mark Allen's return to primetime and to ABC where he starred in the long-running hit Home Improvement.

Kat Dennings To Star In CBS' Whitney Cummings/Michael Patrick King Comedy



Kat Dennings has signed on as one of the two leads in CBS' multicamera comedy pilot Two Broke Girls, co-written and executive produced by former Sex and the City showrunner Michael Patrick King and comedian Whitney Cummings. Dennings is the first actor cast in the project, which centers on two girls from very different backgrounds - Max (Dennings), poor from birth,  and Caroline, born wealthy but down on her luck - who wind up as waitresses in the same Brooklyn diner, and strike up an unlikely friendship that could lead to a successful business venture... if they can come up with $250,000 in start-up expenses. After starting off in TV with a breakout lead role opposite Bob Saget on the WB sitcom Raising Dad and an arc on NBC's ER, Dennings, repped by CAA and Management 360, segued into features, including The House Bunny and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. She will next be seen in Thor.

Rob Corddry To Lead Cast Of Fox Comedy Pilot 'Little In Common', Two Join 'Tagged



EXCLUSIVE: Rob Corddry is set to star in Rob Thomas' single-camera comedy pilot for Fox Little in Common. Paula Marshall is finalizing a deal to join him in the pilot, from by Warner Bros. TV, which is about 3 families united through their kids’ little league sports. It centers on the Caucasian, oh-so-proper Wellers (Corddry, Marshall) who move from San Jose, CA to Austin, TX, but find that their adjustment won't be quite that easy, considering that their Latino neighbors, the Pachecos, have a radically different approach to child-rearing than they do, while their other new neighborhood acquaintances, the African American Burlesons, take sports very seriously. Deal will allow Corddry, who has an overall deal at WBTV, to continue his work on Adult Swim's Childrens Hospital, which he created and executive produces with David Wain and Jonathan Stern. Corddry, repped by WME and Principato-Young, can be seen in Fox Searchlight's Cedar Rapids and recently wrapped the Weinstein Co.'s Butter.

Another Fox comedy pilot, Tagged, has added BJ Bales and Lindsey Kraft to the cast. The hybrid comedy, from Sony TV, Reveille and writers David Guarascio and Moses Port, is a workplace ensemble set at the Los Angeles County's coroner's office that centers on Wally Percy (Tommy Dewey) who, just fresh out of medical school, joins his father, respected coroner James Percy (Gary Cole), and his team at the coroner's office. Bales, repped by APA and Principato-Young, will play a church-going pathologist. Kraft, repped by Paradigm and Matt Sherman Management will play a brilliant pathologist who is an emotional basketcase

Five Broadcast Pilots Add To Casts



Eva Amurri (Californication) is set to star opposite Christine Lahti in CBS' medical-family drama pilot The Doctor, written by Privileged creator Rina Mimoun and directed by David Nutter. The project, from Warner Bros. TV, centers on a mother (Lahti) who reconnects with her two adult children - son David  and daughter Natasha (Amurri) when she joins the family medical practice.

Judy Marte, Tom Reed and Stark Sands have joined Leelee Sobieski in the CBS' drama pilot Rookies, an ensemble cop show from writer Richard Price, which is  executive produced by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal. In the James Mangold-directed pilot, about six NYPD rookies who balance their personal lives with learning the beat on the streets of Manhattan, Marte, Reed, Sands and Sobieski play 4 of the rookies. Marte (Raising Victor Vargas) is with Greene & Assoc. and managers Eunice Lee & Tim Jordan.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Leah Renee have joined NBC's drama pilot Playboy. In the 20th/Imagine TV project, set at the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963, the two will play bunnies. Dewan-Tatum, repped by ICM and Steve Caserta, recently wrapped feature Set Up.

NewsRadio alum Dave Foley has been cast in CBS' comedy pilot, buddy comedy How to Be a Gentleman created and starring David Hornsby. Based on the book of the same name, the project centers on Allan (Hornsby), an uptight guy learning to live his life with the help of his old high school classmate. Foley will play Allen's rumpled magazine editor.

Jenn Proske (Vampires Suck) has joined another CBS comedy pilot, Home Game. The project, loosely based on the experiences of former NFL star Mark Schlereth, centers on Mark (Rob Riggle), a retired NFL player who returns home to his wife Lisa (Constance Zimmer) and daughters. Proske will play the oldest daughter

Patrick Wilson To Headline CBS Medical Drama Pilot Directed By Jonathan Demme



Feature and Broadway actor Patrick Wilson is making his first foray into series TV as the star of CBS' untitled Susannah Grant drama pilot. Jonathan Demme is directing he supernatural medical drama, from CBS TV Studios and studio-based Timberman/Beverly Prods., which centers on an ultra-competitive surgeon (Wilson) whose life is changed forever when his ex-wife dies and begins teaching him what life is all about from the here-after. Wilson's only previous TV gig was a co-starring role on the HBO miniseries Angels In America, which earned him an Emmy nomination. Wilson was approached by 3 drama pilots this season. As part of his deal for the Susannah Grant pilot, its production will be moved to New York where Wilson lives. CAA-repped Wilson most recently starred in the Sundance entry The Ledge.

Toby Stephens Cast In 'Prime Suspect'; Guillermo Diaz, Adam Campbell Board Pilots



Toby Stephens is set to star opposite Maria Bello in NBC's drama pilot Prime Suspect. The remake of the iconic British series starring Helen Mirren centers on Jane Timoney (Bello), an iconoclastic female detective who has to make her bones in a tough New York precinct that is dominated by men. Stephens will play Jane's live-in boyfriend who is fighting his ex-wife to allow their son to stay with him and Jane. Brit Stephens, repped by Paradigm and U.K.'s Independent, recently starred opposite Lucy Punch in the BBC dramedy Vexed and in the play The Real Thing at The Old Vic.

Guillermo Diaz (NBC's Mercy) has joined the cast of ABC's untitled Shonda Rhimes pilot, which revolves around the life and work of professional fixer Olivia Price (Kerry Washington) and her dysfunctional staff. Diaz will play a paralegal in the crisis management office who is also an expert hacker and does what he is told. He joins previously cast Columbus Short, Henry Ian Cusick and Katie Lowes. Diaz, repped by Innovative, Meghan Schumacher and Jill McGrath, recurs on ABC's No Ordinary Family.

Adam Campbell has become the first actor cast in NBC's comedy pilot My Life As an Experiment. The Sony/Reveille project exec produced by Jack Black, centers on magazine immersion journalist A.J. Wilder who explores all sorts of unique experience. Campbell will play his boss, the editor-in-chief of the magazine he works for.

Ashley Judd To Star In ABC Series 'Missing



In her first regular TV series gig, Ashley Judd is close to a deal to topline ABC's action series Missing (aka Safe aka Hall of Mirrors). The project, from feature writer Greg Poirier and Grant Scharbo and Gina Matthews, was once slated for summer but now eyes a fall launch, with early September as a possibility. Missing centers on Becca Winstone (Judd), a devoted single mom who, after her 18-year-old son disappears in Italy where he'd been working on architecture fellowship, takes it upon herself to travel to Europe and track him down. It soon becomes clear that Winstone is a former CIA agent who will stop at nothing to bring her son home alive. Steve Shill, who won an Emmy in August for his directing work on Dexter, is on board to direct multiple episodes of the series, including the opener. He will also executive produce with Poirier, Scharbo and Matthews. Production is scheduled to begin late next month in Rome, Vienna and Prague. Missing, from ABC Studios and Matthews and Scharbo's Little Engine Prods., was put on fast-track development in early fall with an order for 3-5 backup scripts. WME-repped Judd next stars in the Warner Bros. film Dolphin Tale. Her memoir All That is Bitter & Sweet is being released on April 5. Her only series gig until now was a recurring role on Sisters

Jason Isaacs To Star In NBC Pilot 'REM'



EXCLUSIVE: One of the hottest actors this pilot season, Jason Isaacs, is off the market. After fielding more than half-dozen offers, Isaacs has settled on the lead role in NBC's drama pilot REM, from Lone Star creator Kyle Killen and 20th Century Fox TV.  In addition to starring, Isaacs will serve as producer on the project, described as an Inception-style thriller. It centers on a cop (Isaacs) who wakes up after an accident to find he is living in two different realities. The casting of Isaacs lifts the contingency on the pilot, exec produced/run by  former 24 showrunner Howard Gordon. 20th TV-based Tim Minear serves as a consulting producer.

REM brings Brit Isaacs back to 20th TV where he starred in the drama pilot for Fox Pleading Guilty last season. Additionally, he developing and producing a drama project at 20th TV's cable division Fox 21. Safe, set up at FX, is being written by Chris Gerolmo.

Brotherhood star Isaacs had been in demand since the Showtime drama ended in 2008. He was first pursued in the 2009 pilot season but was unavailable because of commitments to the Harry Potter movies, in which he plays Lucius Malfoy. Last pilot season, he received eight offers and went with Pleading Guilty. Isaacs, repped by Gersh, the Collective, U.K.'s Independent Talent and attorney Karl Austen, will next be seen in the final Harry Potter movie and the Taylor Lautner starrer Abduction.

Oleynik teases 'Hawaii Five-0' role



Larisa Oleynik has revealed more details about her upcoming role on Hawaii Five-0.

It was announced last month that the 10 Things I Hate About You star will play ex-CIA analyst Jenna Kaye in multiple episodes, with an option to become a series regular in a potential second season.

Discussing Kaye's hunt for her fiancé's killer Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos), Olyenik told TV Guide: "She's left everything she knows and has nothing to lose. She thinks she's going at it alone, until she meets McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin)."

The actress added that she will not discover if she is being hired as a series regular until after the entire first season has aired.

"They'll let me know by June 30," she explained. "One of the reasons for bringing me in is the four [main actors] are being worked non-stop. And maybe to add more female energy."

Minnie Driver To Star In CBS Private Eye Drama Pilot, Alan Tudyk Joins ABC Comedy



Minnie Driver is returning to series television as star of CBS' drama pilot Hail Mary. The project, created by Jeff Wadlow and executive produced by Ilene Chaiken, is a buddy P.I. show set in Atlanta that focuses on a suburban single mom (Driver) who teams up with a streetwise hustler to solve crimes.  In addition to Hail Mary, Driver was also pursued for the NBC pilot Free Agents this season. This was one of 2 offers for On American TV, British-born Driver, repped by CAA and Untitled, previously starred on FX's The Riches and recurred on NBC's Will & Grace. She was most recently seen in Conviction. ?

Alan Tudyk has been cast in ABC's comedy pilot Suburgatory. The project, from Warner Bros. TV and writer-exec producer Emily Kapnek, centers on Tessa (Jane Levy), a teenage girl who is moved by her dad George from Manhattan, where she grew up, to her version of hell: the suburbs. Tudyk will play George's old college buddy who has been living in the suburbs for years. Tudyk, repped by Gersh and Coronel Co., was approached for multiple pilots. He will next be seen in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

It's Official: Kiefer Sutherland To Star In Fox's Drama Pilot 'Touch



Kiefer Sutherland is ready for a primetime return. The 24 star has closed a deal to star in the Fox drama pilot Touch, from Heroes creator Tim Kring.  In addition to Fox, Touch reunites Sutherland with 20th Century Fox TV. Co-produced by Chernin Entertainment, Touch centers on a father (Sutherland) who discovers that his autistic, mute son can predict events before they happen. Because of Sutherland's duties on Broadway where he currently stars in a revival of the Jason Miller's That Championship Season, Touch is expected start production in late May-early June after Sutherland fulfills his commitment to the play, which opened earlier this month. Kring wrote the project, his first pilot script since Heroes. Charles McDougall, who has helmed the pilots for ABC's Desperate Housewives, ABC's The Good Wife and, most recently, Fox's The Chicago Code, is in talks to direct.

Sutherland, repped by CAA and Management 360, spent eight seasons on 24 playing CTU agent Jack Bauer. It became his signature role and earned him an Emmy Award in 2006.

Silas Weir Mitchell Joins NBC's 'Grimm



Prison Break alum Silas Weir Mitchell has landed a lead role opposite David Giuntoli in NBC's drama pilot Grimm. Created by David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf and to be directed by Marc Buckland, Grimm is described as a dark but fantastical cop drama about a world in which characters inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales exist. It centers on Nick Burckhardt (Giuntoli), a good-looking detective who starts to see humans as  beast/animals and discovered that he has a legacy - to protect "humans" from these beasts. Mitchell will play Eddie Monroe, a reformed big bad wolf who has tamed his murderous instincts through a strict regimen of diet and Pilates. He starts helping Nick with his cases.  Mitchell, repped by Greene & Assoc., also recurred on NBC's My Name Is Earl and will next be seen in the feature Heaven's Rain.

Joey King has been cast as Amanda Peet's daughter in the NBC comedy pilot Bent. At age 11, King, managed by Industry,  has an extensive feature resume. She played one of the title roles opposite Selena Gomez in Romona and Beezus, just wrapped Family Weekend opposite Kristin Chenoweth and will next be seen in Battle: Los Angeles and Crazy, Stupid, Love, playing Steve Carell's daughter.

Comedian Kevin Hart To Star In Fox Pilot 'Little In Common', Prep Concert Movie

No African American comedian since Eddie Murphy has surpassed 1 million dollars in two-day live show ticket sales. The Nokia shows, which Hart co-directed, were filmed for a theatrical release. The concert film, also titled Laugh at My Pain, is being produced by Codeblack Entertainment, Hart's HartBeat Prods. and exec produced by 3 Arts' Dave Becky. Vivendi/Universal is distributing. 'Party Down' Alum Ryan Hansen To Star In NBC Comedy Pilot 'Lovelives



EXCLUSIVE: Friends with Benefits co-star Ryan Hansen has landed the male lead in another NBC comedy project, pilot Lovelives. Lovelives, from 20th TV, Chernin Entertainment and writer Chris Sheridan, is described as a sophisticated, adult multi-camera comedy about a couple, Tim (Hansen) and Holly, and their challenges of love and infidelity. Tim is an attractive and smart professor of literature at Fordham University who is less than honest with Holly. For Gersh-repped Hansen, Lovelives is formally in second position to Friends with Benefits, which is yet to receive an air date. The series is also for the same network (NBC) and from the same studio (20th TV) as Lovelives, making this second position as safe as they come. Hansen previously co-starred on Veronica Mars and Party Down.

Jenna Elfman Closing In On Starring Role In ABC Comedy Pilot 'Bad Mom



Jenna Elfman is in negotiations for the lead in ABC's single-camera comedy pilot Bad Mom. The project, from ABC Studios and Kapital Entertainment, centers on Julia (Elfman), a single mom whose two kids had been raised largely by her mom. When her mom decides to get her life back, Julia has to do it alone. Bad Mom was created by British writer-actress-comedienne Sharon Horgan who is executive producing with Aaron Kaplan.

Former Dharma & Greg star Elfman headlined CBS' multicamera comedy Accidentally on Purpose last season. The actress, repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment, next co-stars in the feature Friends with Benefits.
