Ben Affleck To Direct Matt Damon And Casey Affleck in Whitey Bulger Mobster Saga

BREAKING: Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reuniting for the first time since Good Will Hunting. The Boston guys are taking on the story of New England’s most notorious gangster, Whitey Bulger. Warner Bros will make the film, Affleck will direct, costar and produce with Damon, who’ll play Bulger. They’ll produce under their Pearl Street Films banner. Boardwalk Empire creator and writer Terence Winter is penning the script. Casey Affleck, who also starred in Good Will Hunting and Gone Baby Gone, will play a supporting role as well.

“Matt and I have been looking for something to do together for some time,” Affleck said. “We’ve heard about Whitey Bulger since we were kids, and we are excited by the prospect of putting it on screen.” Ironically, Damon played a crooked cop in The Departed, the Martin Scorsese-directed film that took a page from the Bulger story. He is the notorious South Boston crime boss who fled in 1994  and remained a fugitive for 16 years, 12 of them on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List. He was arrested in June in Santa Monica. The story will cover Bulger’s youth to his incarceration on Alcatraz, through his rise to become a mob boss while secretly serving as an FBI informant for decades. Pearl Street’s Chay Carter will be executive producer.

“When Ben mentioned this to Jeff and Sarah, they jumped immediately,” said Greg Silverman, Warner Bros Pictures president of production. “It’s a perfect fit of story with the ideal artists to bring that story to the screen, and it’s so great to be heading back to Boston with Ben and Matt.”

Affleck is currently shooting Argo for Warner Bros, and is in the mix for a number of films at the studio. Warner Bros wants him for its adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, though it is unclear whether Affleck will make that film. Damon just starred in the Steven Soderbergh-directed Contagion for Warner Bros. Casey Affleck’s about to open in Tower Heist. He and Damon are repped by WME. Winter’s repped by CAA. Casey Affleck’s repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Sylvester Stallone 'to face Expendables script lawsuit

Sylvester Stallone has been accused of copying another writer's work in The Expendables.

The actor appeared in the 2010 action movie and co-wrote the script with David Callaham. However, writer Marcus Webb filed a lawsuit alleging copyright infringement at Manhattan federal court on Tuesday, Reuters Canada reports.

Webb claims that The Expendables' screenplay is "strikingly similar and in some places identical" to a script which he circulated for consideration by movie bosses between 2006 and 2009.

He testifies that his work The Cordoba Caper features a group of elite mercenaries hired to overthrow a military dictator - also the centre of The Expendables' plot.

Webb is seeking unspecified damages and also wants an injunction to prevent further copyright infringement in any sequels.

Stallone's spokesperson declined to comment and a lawyer for studio Millennium Films only confirmed that the company had not been served with any legal documents.

The Expendables' distributor Lionsgate has not yet commented on the allegations.

A sequel to The Expendables is currently in production for release on August 17, 2012.

Kerry Washington Lands ‘Django Unchained’ Lead

BREAKING: Kerry Washington has won the role of Broomhilda in Django Unchained. Director Quentin Tarantino made his choice and The Weinstein Company began exclusive negotiations with her CAA reps last night. She’ll play the long-suffering slave wife of Django (Jamie Foxx), who is freed by a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) and taught the tricks of that trade. Django’s real desire is to be reunited with his wife, who winds up in a variety of unsavory places and whose travails drive the plot. It leads to a confrontation in Candyland, a ranch owned by the notorious Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).

Tarantino had his eye on Washington from the beginning, but he was also intrigued with making a discovery in the role, and that led to a long casting search before the director went back to Washington for the female lead. Washington will next be seen in The Details, and she stars with Eddie Murphy in A Thousand Words. She is managed by Katherine Atkinson of Washington Square Arts.

Eddie Murphy: 'Beverly Hills Cop 4 axed, TV series in the pipeline'

Eddie Murphy has revealed that plans for a Beverly Hills Cop 4 movie have been axed.

The Shrek actor starred as Axel Foley in the three original films from 1984 to 1994, and a fourth addition has been mooted in recent years.

In 2009, a possible fourth film was said to be a direct sequel to the first movie.

He explained that instead of a film, he is planning on producing a TV series about Foley's son, but did not confirm whether he would star in it himself.

"They're not doing it," he told Rolling Stone. "What I'm trying to do now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley's son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit.

"I'd do the pilot, show up here and there. None of the movie scripts were right; it was trying to force the premise. If you have to force something, you shouldn't be doing it. It was always a rehash of the old thing. It was always wrong."

I think a TV Series might be a really good idea as long as it don't end up on a main Network show where it will get cancelled, bring it to cable.

Simon Pegg hopes for more involved Thompson Twins in 'Tintin' sequel

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have revealed that they hope their characters Thompson and Thomson play a more active role in the Adventures of Tintin sequel.

The Paul stars told Digital Spy that they'd like to see their pair of bumbling detectives "along for the ride" with Jamie Bell's Tintin in Peter Jackson's follow-up.

Frost voiced his desire to do "a bit more swashbuckling", while Pegg said: "It'd be good to get in on the action, although the Thompsons would be dreadful in a fight, tripping over each other."

Tintin actor Bell added of the character's exploits in previous Hergé stories: "He goes under the water, he goes to the moon, he climbs a mountain... he's intrepid, he goes everywhere, Tintin, he's not afraid of anything."

British screenwriter Anthony Horowitz is at work on a Tintin sequel script, which will reportedly be based on Hergé books Prisoners of the Sun and The Seven Crystal Balls and introduce the character Calculus.

'Independence Day' sequels planned by Fox

Fox is planning two sequels to the 1996 alien invasion movie Independence Day, it has been reported.

The two movies are expected to shoot back-to-back, focusing on a single storyline, according to New York Magazine.

Independence Day, which starred Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman, grossed $800 million (£498 million) worldwide.

Talks of back-to-back sequels featuring Smith began in earnest in early 2009. However, when Smith allegedly asked for $50 million (£31 million) to shoot the two films, Fox put plans for the sequels on hold.

"The delay wasn't about whether they both wanted to make the movie," a source said. "It had more to do with 'Whose d**k is bigger?'"

Insiders also told the website that the scripts for the two follow-ups will be ready by December of this year, adding that Fox is prepared to shoot the films without Smith.

Smith recently became a part-owner of basketball team the Philadelphia 76ers.

Earlier this year, he dismissed rumours of a split between him and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, saying that the claims were "ridiculous".

Will Smith better be in these movies otherwise it wont be the same so if I was FOX I would just pay him because these movies are guaranteed to make almost $1 Billion each.

Jason Statham exits Andy McNab's 'Echelon' movie

Jason Statham has dropped out of starring in Echelon, the movie adaptation of Andy McNab's book Firewall.

Expendables star Statham had been earmarked for the role of SAS agent Nick Stone in the movie, but McNab told Digital Spy that the action star is no longer available to take on the role.

"That was originally what was going to happen, but he's just too committed," McNab said of Statham. "There are so many films he's got lined up, there wouldn't be a slot for him to do it."

Asked if McNab had a replacement for Statham and a director lined up, he replied: "No. Basically there's three or four that have been flagged up, but they're still going through the process of reading scripts and all that.

"Some directors will only deal through certain actors and certain actors will only deal with certain directors, so all this sort of business is being sorted out at the moment."

McNab revealed that financing is in place for the Echelon feature film, and the project could go before cameras in early 2012.

"It's scripted up, the money's in place and what it is now is getting an actor and director. So in theory, if the contracts get signed it should go into pre-production by April, which in reality will probably be June," he explained.

Echelon will see Stone in a race to reach a computer programme before the Russian mob and Western secret service agents.

Bravo Two Zero author McNab has recently worked on video game Battlefield 3 to advise on the script, visuals and motion capture.

James Bond 23' casts Albert Finney

Albert Finney has joined the cast of director Sam Mendes's new James Bond movie, according to reports.

Production sources have claimed that Finney will play a Foreign Office official, who may attempt to exert control over M (Judi Dench).

Finney reportedly was present for a recent table read of Bond 23's script alongside co-stars Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes and villain Javier Bardem.

A production source told the Daily Mail of Finney's casting: "It was one of those fabulous
'This can't get any better!' moments because Mendes has upped the game by bringing in Bardem and Fiennes - and they've already got Dame Judi Dench. So you think, well, who else can they get to make this any classier?"

An official title for Bond 23 hasn't yet been announced, but several URLs recently registered by Song Pictures point to the name Skyfall.

Director Mendes will reportedly film one of the latest Bond movie's explosive action sequences at Duntrune Castle near Glasgow in February 2012.
