'Star Trek 2' to miss scheduled release date

The next Star Trek movie will not open in June 2012, it has been reported.

The sequel to 2009's Star Trek was originally slated for release on June 29, 2012, but Deadline now reports that Paramount has given that date to G.I. Joe: Retaliation in order to allow writers more time to work on the new Star Trek.

JJ Abrams has - according to the website - committed to directing the film, though this has yet to be officially confirmed. The Lost creator apparently plans to devote himself to working with screenwriters Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof in order to complete the script in time for a late 2012 or summer 2013 release.

Abrams confessed in June that the Star Trek sequel might miss its scheduled release date, saying that his current priority is to make sure the film's story is good.

Meanwhile, Lindelof admitted in a recent interview that he is feeling the pressure to write a great sequel to Star Trek.

Simon Pegg, who played Enterprise engineer Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott in Star Trek, told Digital Spy last month that the new Star Trek film will begin production this year.

Daniel Craig: 'Bond 23 script is better than Casino Royale

Daniel Craig has said that he is more excited about the script for the latest James Bond movie than he was for Casino Royale.

The British actor revealed to his Cowboys & Aliens director Jon Favreau that he believes reuniting with his Road to Perdition director Sam Mendes will result in a "classic" 007 movie.

Craig said: "I think it's a great choice because Sam has a fervour and energy to really direct a Bond movie with a capital B.

"He'll feet-first run himself into it, [he's] read every book and just soaked up everything about it. I read the script the other day and I'm more excited about this than I was about Casino because we've kind of got a classic Bond movie plus lots of other things."

Asked if a "classic" Bond meant a return for Q, Craig suggested that the new movie would continue to be light on gadgets.

"Trying to find something that's new and interesting is really difficult... Mostly, the technology is in the public arena now or some type of it," he commented.

Craig's third outing as James Bond, following on from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, will be released on October 26, 2012.

John Travolta and Chuck Norris are said to be joining the cast of The Expendables 2.

David Varod, the head of the Bulgaria-based NU Boyana studios - where the movie will shoot - claimed that the two actors will be starring in the follow-up to last year's ensemble action film.

When asked what stars would be heading to Bulgaria, Varod told Novinite: "Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, John Travolta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke... who else? Of course, Bruce Willis.

"The director is Simon West, who is also a name. He is already here and has started working on the film. I believe the sequel will be better than the first movie."

However, Jet Li, who appeared in the original film, is notably missing from Varod's list.

Varod also revealed that the film will begin shooting in September.

"The shooting is going to take place in the second week of September," Varod said. "The movie is on, definitely."

Adam Sandler to remake 'Three Men and a Baby'?

Adam Sandler is allegedly planning to remake Three Men and a Baby.

The Funny People star will reportedly team up with Disney for a new version of the hit '80s comedy, which starred Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson.

Sandler will not be one of the main characters in the new Three Men, although he will potentially have a cameo role, says Movieweb.

The remake will supposedly centre on three gay men who become guardians to an infant child. Sandler's Grown Ups co-stars Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade are all said to be interested in starring in the new Three Men and a Baby.

Selleck last year revealed that Disney had approached him about reprising his role in the comedy series for Three Men and a Bride.

"It is true that Disney checked my availability," he said. "And I know they checked Ted's and Steve's, and then had a script written, I think tentatively called Three Men and a Bride, which kind of says it all [about the story]."

Max Payne director John Moore is reportedly in talks to direct Die Hard 5.

Moore has been told that he is first choice for the film after Noam Murro had to depart due to the high demands of making 300 prequel Xerxes, Twitch Film reports.

Die Hard 5 will see hero John McClane (Bruce Willis) team up with his son to foil criminal forces in Russia. The new script is by X-Men Origins: Wolverine writer Skip Woods.

Murro was originally attached to the sequel after his successful campaign for Halo.

Willis, who stars in the first four films, said last year that shooting on the fifth film is likely to go ahead in 2011.

The actor also admitted that he only wants to do two more films in the action franchise.

He said: "In the next few years they could easily find a replacement for me or call the character someone else. But for me, I want to do Die Hard 5, then one final Die Hard movie - Die Hard 6 - before finally hanging that white vest up for good.

"At the moment, I can run and I can fight on screen. But there will come a time when I no longer want to do that. That's when I'll step away from the Die Hard films."

Superman Henry Cavill: 'I'd still like to play James Bond

Superman: Man of Steel star Henry Cavill has admitted that he would still like to play James Bond.

The 28-year-old British actor was narrowly beaten to the 007 role by Daniel Craig for Casino Royale. Cavill, Craig and Avatar's Sam Worthington all reportedly undertook screen tests to play the iconic British secret agent in 2005.

"That would be absolutely amazing," Cavill told Total Film of playing Bond. "If they approached me on that I'd leap at the opportunity to do it. But that's of course well away for the time being..."

Cavill is currently filming director Zack Snyder's Superman reboot Man of Steel with Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. He revealed that he is consuming 5,000 calories a day to get into shape for the superhero role.

Benjamin Walker to play Bradley Cooper's enemy in 'Paradise Lost

Benjamin Walker will be playing archangel Michael in the upcoming adaptation of poet John Milton's Paradise Lost.

The actor is to join The Hangover star Bradley Cooper in the film, who stars as Michael's opposite number and fallen angel Lucifer, Deadline reports.

Director Alex Proyas said: "It's a family saga, about a group of brothers, two in particular, who are on divergent paths, and Lucifer's feelings of betrayal by his father and family that forge his descent into evil."

Paradise Lost centres on Lucifer's rejection from heaven, after which he launches his army in a personal battle against the forces of good.

Proyas, who previously directed I, Robot and Knowing, said: "[Walker's] deal isn't closed yet, but I think there's a wonderful duality about Ben's persona, this combination of great strength and perfect innocence that works so well for Michael."

The film has taken seven years to come into development and is expected to arrive on screens by the end of 2013.

"I don't think the visuals could have been done justice until now, which is the great fun of being a film director in this modern age of visual effects," Proyas added.

Walker recently finished shooting on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which sees the 16th president of the US battling vampires during the Civil War.

The film will mark Kirk's directorial debut on a major Hollywood production.

He directed three episodes of HBO's Emmy-nominated, ten-part television series - 'The Wolf and the Lion', 'Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things' and 'Lord Snow'.

Other contenders for the role reportedly include Breck Eisner (The Crazies), Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods), James McTeigue (Ninja Assassin) and Noam Murro (300: Battle of Artemesia).
