Two 'Snow White' films due in June 2012
Universal Pictures has announced plans to move the release of Snow White and the Huntsman to June 2012, just weeks before Relativity Media releases its own version of the Brothers Grimm classic.
Snow White and the Huntsman, which had been scheduled for release in December 2012, will star Twilight actress Kirsten Stewart opposite Thor star Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron.
The Rupert Sander-directed project offers a new take on the concept, in which the Huntsman disobeys orders to kill Snow White and instead begins training her to take on the evil queen.
"As Rupert and Joe were finalising casting and pre-production of Snow White and the Huntsman we realised that the ambitious and fully-formed world they had promised was blowing away expectations," Universal Chairman Adam Fogelson said as part of the announcement. "We're thrilled that Universal will be bringing this singular version of a timeless story almost seven months earlier than anticipated."
Meanwhile, Relativity Media has its own currently untitled Snow White project in production, which is also due out at the end of June next year.
Tarsem Singh is directing the film, which will star Lily Collins as Snow White, Armie Hammer as the prince and Julia Roberts as the evil queen.
Snow White and the Huntsman will now be released on June 1, 2012, while Relativity Media's Snow White is due in cinemas on June 29, 2012.

I will be surprised if both movies are still released in the same month come June next year.
