Fassbender explains Magneto inspiration

Michael Fassbender has claimed that he based his interpretation of the iconic super-villain Magneto in X-Men: First Class on the comic books themselves.

The Inglourious Basterds actor admits that he tried to steer clear of attempting to imitate Ian McKellen's critically-acclaimed portrayal of the character in the first three X-Men films.

"I haven't based it on him at all actually, and I hope fans aren't going to be disappointed by that, because I know he's rated as number one comic villain, well he's up there anyway," Fassbender told SuperheroHype.

"I just tried to steep myself in the source material, the comic books, and there's so much," the actor explained. "He's such a fascinating guy, and how he becomes Magneto is a really interesting journey."

Fassbender revealed that he feels that one of the most important elements of the character, despite its exclusion from the upcoming film, was Magneto's early relationship with Magda, his lover who runs away after witnessing him murder a mob of people.

"You don't see that relationship [with Magda], I've just held that for my own personal use in developing the character, so when we meet him at the beginning of this film, he's definitely a lone wolf," Fassbender added.

X-Men: First Class will be released in cinemas on June 3.

Mackie confirmed for 'Vampire Hunter

The Hurt Locker star Anthony Mackie has officially signed on to star in Timur Bekmambetov's upcoming adaptation of the horror mash-up Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

The actor will join Benjamin Walker in the film, based on Seth Grahame-Smith's bestselling novel, and has admitted that he can't wait to start work.

"The great thing about it, and what I loved about the movie, is the idea that it's the actual storyline," Mackie told Shock Til You Drop. "They took Abraham Lincoln's biography, moment by moment, and put this sub-storyline of vampires in it, and I think that's kind of interesting.

"It kind of entices the next generation to look at history in a way that's new and creative," he added.

Mackie also revealed that Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is scheduled to begin production this March in his hometown of New Orleans.

Alice Eve Joins 'Men In Black III' As Young Emma Thompson

When Men in Black III re-starts production next month, Alice Eve will play the younger version of Men in Black Agency head Emma Thompson in the time travel storyline. The British actress plays Olivia, hired as secretary for the Agency in 1969. While it appears she was given the job because of her looks, Olivia is actually whip smart. Sure enough, in the contemporary storyline, Thompson runs the place. Will Smith's Agent J character is forced to travel back in time to team up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save the world. Eve just completed production on The Decoy Bride and starred with John Cusack in The Raven. She's repped by Untitled, UTA and Artists Right Group. MIB III has extended a pre-planned holiday hiatus. With a skeleton staff in place, the filmmakers are taking extra time to hone the script. Director Barry Sonnenfeld has already assembled the footage shot so far, and insiders said that the film is still on track for its May 25, 2012 release by Sony Pictures.

Cavill 'didn't feel ready for Superman test'

Henry Cavill has revealed that he panicked before auditioning for Zack Snyder's Superman movie.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the British actor said that he didn't feel like he was ready to screen test for the iconic superhero role because he had lost the muscular physique attained for fantasy epic Immortals.

"All I could think was: Oh, God. They’re going to look at me and go 'He's not Superman. Not a chance.' The actor inside me was going: 'You're not ready! You're not ready!'" Cavill said.

Snyder, who had Clark Kent candidates wear a replica of Christopher Reeve's superhero outfit, said of Cavill's screen test: "He walked out, and no-one laughed. Other actors put that suit on, and it's a joke, even if they're great actors. Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go, 'Wow. Okay: This was Superman.'"

Superman will open in cinemas in December 2012.

Parker: 'There's more Sex And The City'

Sarah Jessica Parker has insisted that a third Sex And The City film could find box office success.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the actress said that she feels confident the franchise has "one more story to tell" and hopes to take part in such a project in the future.

"I would go back. I think there's one more story to tell. I know there is," she explained.

"I'd definitely tell that [third] story, and I know [series creator] Michael [Patrick King] would do it right. But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know?"

She also expressed her disapproval over rumours that the next Sex And The City film would be a prequel to the television series.

"There are a lot of important and interesting stories that 21-year-olds can tell. I don't begrudge any 21-year-old the opportunity to tell their stories," she said.

"But I don't think we can pretend to go back. It's creating two histories. It's like, 'Oh I didn't know that about Carrie Bradshaw'."

However, Parker was adamant that it is important for her to pursue other projects before heading back to such an iconic role, adding: "It's not that I want to get away from [SATC]. In a million years, who could get away from it?

"[But] if I'm not scared again that's not good for me. That's literally no good for me. If I'm not terrified and nauseous and worried [in] the first two weeks of production, then what's going to happen? You could wither on the vine. It's like if you can't use your leg. It just atrophies."

Evans reveals future Marvel commitments

Chris Evans has admitted that he was initially hesitant about signing up to play the role of Captain America in upcoming Marvel Comics projects due to the sheer amount of commitment that the studio expected from him.

The former Fantastic Four actor was unveiled as the company's Captain America in March last year, but recently said that he reduced the number of films he was signing up for during negotiations.

"At one point it was nine pictures," Evans told Total Film. "We got it down to six, but still, that's making a decision for a big portion of your life."

However, Evans claimed that he is content with his decision to take on the part, and is well aware that it could be the most iconic role of his acting career.

"I love acting but there are other things I want to do, I want to write and direct," Evans continued. "If the movies do well and they want to exercise all six films, I could be doing this until I'm 40."

"That's a crazy thing to try and process," the actor added.

Captain America: The First Avenger is due to be released on July 29

I highly doubt this film will get 6 made, I would be surprised if it gets 3 done, now the Batman films deserve to continue as does Iron Man and possibly Wolverine but not Captain America.
