Christian Bale reiterates last 'Batman' stance

Christian Bale has said that he presumes The Dark Knight Rises will be his last Batman movie - although he refuses to officially rule out more.

The actor suggested that director Christopher Nolan - already on record as having opted out of a fourth film - will dictate any further decisions regarding the series.

"All I know is the likelihood that this will be the last one," Bale told Empire. "Well, I wouldn't say definitely. If Chris goes, 'Hey, I've got another story I think could be interesting,' then yeah, great, I'd go do that.

"I always assumed it would be three, but I could be wrong. I don't know if there's something wrong with me, but I don't feel any pressure."

Nolan recently cast two key members of Bale's supporting cast for The Dark Knight Rises - Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy - in the respective roles of Catwoman and Bane.

Fox dismisses Sutherland's '24' comments

20th Century Fox has downplayed reports that a film based on the popular television series 24 is due to begin filming later this year.

Earlier this week, 24 star Kiefer Sutherland told Extra that the film would begin filming in eight months. However, a publicist for Fox has now been forced to clarify the actor's comments.

"Unfortunately, Kiefer [Sutherland] is overly optimistic," the publicist's statement read, according to Yahoo News. "The project is still in development, with no director attached."

24 ran for eight seasons between 2001 and 2010, and a film based on the series has been rumoured for a number of years.

McAvoy teases 'X-Men: First Class'

James McAvoy has revealed that he will not be participating in many of the fight scenes in X-Men: First Class.

McAvoy, who plays Professor X in the upcoming prequel, spoke to Screen Rant about his character, stating that he is rarely involved in the movie's fight scenes.

"[Professor X] is not too combat savvy in this film, it has to be said. He doesn't do too much, he's sort of a consultant with the combat guys," said McAvoy.

He continued: "But he does get involved in a few little bits of fisticuffs, I wouldn't say that he comes out well in any of them, but I wouldn't say that he gets his ass kicked either. Yeah, he's not particularly combat ready."

The actor also addressed the rumours about the ending of the film, which reportedly concludes with Professor X bald and in a wheelchair, as the character appears later in life.

"You'll have to wait and see, you'll have to wait and see," McAvoy said. "It's actually quite satisfying when you get to say that: 'I'm not allowed to say'. Because nobody’s actually told you that you're not allowed to say, but it's sort of implied."

X-Men: First Class opens in cinemas on June 3.

Hemsworth: 'Avengers script is huge'

Actor Chris Hemsworth has revealed that the script for The Avengers is "huge".

Hemsworth, who plays Thor, spoke to MTV News about the screenplay for the upcoming film, which features many of the Marvel comic book superheroes.

"Everything about the story and the comic books is huge. You have these huge, big superheroes and huge, big egos crammed into one small space," Hemsworth said.

"Reading the script, it was massive. Everything about it was like, 'Oh my god.' I said to Joss [Whedon, the director], I said, 'I don't know how you're going to shoot this thing [laughs], but I'm excited to be onboard and let's give it a go'."

Hemsworth also addressed the rumour about whether actor Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in The Avengers, will make a cameo appearance in Thor.

"I don't know if he's in Thor. I haven't seen the cut yet, and he wasn't on set when I was there, but he may be in the final one," Hemsworth declared. "He's certainly in The Avengers. I had a chat with him at Comic-Con and he's as excited as the rest of us."

Thor opens in cinemas on May 6. Meanwhile, The Avengers is scheduled to be released in 2012.

Jane Goldman has quashed rumours that she has begun working on the script for Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall.

Posting on Twitter, the screenwriter explained that she has two other projects to complete before tackling the comic book sequel.

"Saw a few erroneous reports today that I'm currently writing Kick-Ass 2 script - sorry if anyone's disappointed, but not true (sic)," she wrote. "Currently writing for two other projects, then on to lovely Matthew V's next thing (right now, looks unlikely to be KA2) when X-Men post-prod' ends."

Cameron: 'Avatar sequel set for 2014'

James Cameron has said that his two upcoming Avatar sequels could be released by Christmas 2014 and 2015.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the director revealed his plans to shoot both movies at the same time.

"I am in the process of writing the next two Avatar films now," he said.

Cameron went on to say that both follow-ups would feature the same characters introduced in the first film.

"Basically, if you survived the first film, you get to be in the second film, at least in some form," he explained.

He also announced that studio Fox would donate some profits from the sequels to environmental causes.

"Fox has partnered with me to donate a chunk of the profits to environmental causes that are at the heart of the Avatar world," Cameron added. "I didn't want to make more Avatar movies without a grander plan in place."

Report of Two Matrix Films Is NOT True

There won't be more "Matrix" films, at least not in the foreseeable future. Just last weekend, Ain't It Cool News (AICN) reported Keanu Reeves spoke at LondonInternational School of Performing Arts that two follow-ups of the trilogy had been prepared, but it turned out to be a hoax.

The Senior Administrator for the university has informed Screen Rant that the actor made no appearance there. Later, Reeve's rep and Warner Bros. confirm that the story is entirely fabricated.

At that time, AICN's source reported that Wachowskis had finished script for "Matrix 4" and "Matrix 5" and Reeves would return as Neo. Additionally, it was said Wachowskis had consulted with James Cameron about shooting them in 3-D. Further talks about "Matrix" sequel were said to resume after Wachowskis finish working on "Cloud Atlas".

Also included in the article were rumors that Reeves was working on a 6-month workout regiment, training for a 3D Rated-R Samurai action film and he has committed to "Bill and Ted 3". Moreover, Reeves reportedly said that Wachowskis sold the rights to the most expensive script in history ($5 million) to Warner Bros. for a future-based version of Robin Hood that will star Will Smith.

Reeves' rep has then clarified that the only true part of the story is about the future "Robin Hood" script, but it was not sold for as much as $5 million.

"It'd be great. It's a matter of getting everybody together," said West. "There's so many people involved and it's about getting everybody to agree. But I'm going to bring it up to Nic. I'm going to put a bug in his ear about it. If the two of us want to do it, we'll go after the others."

The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Con Air centred on an ex-con on board a prisoner transport plane when the passengers take control. John Cusack, John Malkovich and Steve Buscemi also starred in the action movie, which took more than $200 million at the worldwide box office.

Cheryl Cole 'looking for Hollywood role'

Cheryl Cole is hoping to launch a Hollywood movie career, it has been reported.

The Girls Aloud star, who has been linked to a position on the judging panel on the upcoming US version of The X Factor, is said to be looking for the right role.

"Cheryl's people are already looking into film roles for her," a source told the Daily Star. "There is a belief in Hollywood that if you're not in a movie you're no-one, and she knows that a part in a film could really launch her career over there.

"They're focusing on an all-action kick-ass role which would show her off in the best light. She'd look fabulous on-screen in a vampish costume. She knows the key to her success probably lies in her killer looks."

They added: "Her people are all too aware an action role is ideal as it won't involve too much acting ability."

Will Smith, Jay-Z 'Annie' film confirmed

Will Smith's production company Overbrook Entertainment has teamed with Jay-Z to produce feature films.

It was reported last week that the stars were in negotiations over collaborating on a movie remake of the Broadway musical Annie with Smith's daughter Willow in the lead role.

Sony Pictures has now confirmed that it is backing the project, says The Hollywood Reporter.

"The time is right to bring back Annie to the big screen. Of course, we’re true believers in Willow's talent and believe she will be perfect in this role," said Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad in a statement.

He added: "Combining Willow with the Overbrook team that reimagined Karate Kid and the spectacular Jay-Z makes this a dream project. A decade ago, Jay-Z proved that the power of the underlying Broadway property remains, by showing how these songs could be reinterpreted for a new generation with 'Hard-Knock Life'."

Jay-Z praised Willow as a "true superstar", saying: "The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision… This venture into film development and production is a perfect next step with teams that are accomplished, creative and innovative."

Overbrook founder James Lassiter commented: "We are excited to partner together to develop and produce a wide variety of films with our long-time friend Jay-Z."

Stallone 'plotting Expendables sequel'

Sylvester Stallone has announced that he's begun planning a sequel to last year's box office blockbuster The Expendables.

During an interview with CNN, the film's director confirmed that he has plans to reunite the film's all-star cast, which also includes Jason Statham and Jet Li.

"We're at work on it," Stallone said.

The Rocky actor added that he's most concerned with creating a movie that balances the impressive cast with innovative stunts and action sequences.

He explained: "Because you have about five different scenarios, and you try to figure out which one will work the best: what area, the kind of stunts, and most important, what is the heart of the film?

"What is the reason for the mission instead of just guys running around? Some purpose, that's the hard part."

Stallone was recently nominated for a 'Worst Director' Razzie award for The Expendables.

Ed Helms: 'No plans for Hangover 3'

Ed Helms has suggested that there will not be a third instalment to the Hangover film series.

In an interview with the Los Angles Times, Helms was questioned as to whether the franchise could be extended for further projects beyond the upcoming Hangover: Part II.

"I doubt it," he said. "I don't think [director] Todd [Phillips] would let that happen."

The Office star further explained that the original movie's reputation could be damaged by unimpressive follow-ups.

"I would hope that The Hangover kind of has a dignified legacy, if that makes any sense," he added.
