Boyle: 'There will be a Trainspotting 2'

Danny Boyle has revealed that he is still planning to make a sequel to Trainspotting.

Trainspotting was a 1996 film based on the Irvine Welsh novel by the same name and tells the story of a group of heroin addicts. Boyle, whose film 127 Hours is in US theatres now, spoke to Cinematical about the impending sequel.

"It will happen, I think," Boyle said "I mean, we'll approach them all again about it, but it will depend on what place they're all at. We have a very strong idea that it would be a wonderful thing to do again when they have aged clearly into a mid-life kind of crisis. They're not quite there yet, I don't think."

Boyle said that the sequel would follow the plot of Welsh's follow-up novel Porno to some extent. However, Boyle admitted, as Trainspotting star Ewan McGregor has in the past, that Porno's story is not necessarily cut out for the movie characters.

Boyle said: "The book Porno is not a great book in the way that the original novel is genuinely a masterpiece - as a piece of writing. But we have been doing some work on it, and it's got potential, for sure. And when the moment's right, I think we will approach it."

Iron Man 3' to be sequel to four other movies

Director Jon Favreau has revealed that Iron Man 3 will also be a sequel to four different movies - Thor, Hulk, Captain America and The Avengers.

Favreau, who directed Iron Man and Iron Man 2, spoke to MTV News about the future of the superhero franchise.

"In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers," Favreau said. "This whole world... I have no idea what it is. I don't think they do either, from conversations I've had with those guys."

Favreau also stated that he has no way of knowing what Iron Man 3 will be about, given that its plot will depend on the final versions of the four other films.

"Honestly, right now Captain America and Thor are their big priorities, and you learn things by shooting and making movies," Favreau declared. "The script is one thing, but when you actually see what you land on at the editing room - especially with Marvel where they film, cut, film some more and shape the film - you really learn as you go."

Iron Man 3 is scheduled to open on May 13, 2013.

Hans Zimmer denies 'Superman' involvement

The Dark Knight composer Hans Zimmer has denied reports that he will provide the score for Zack Snyder's Superman.

Zimmer, whose Batman director Christopher Nolan is producing the Superman revamp, told The Hollywood Reporter that rumours of his involvement sprang from a "dirty quote taken out of context".

"Let’s just be absolutely straight here: I have never in my life met Zack Snyder. I think I need to give him a ring," he said.

Zimmer added that his "heart belongs to Batman" and compared replacing John Williams's music to rewriting Beethoven.

"John Williams [is] the greatest living composer - full stop. And [Superman] happens to be one of his greatest themes," he commented. "So no. And I'm not thinking of rewriting Beethoven's ninth either. It just sounds like a thankless task, you know? So that's unequivocally a no."

The new Superman movie is due for release in 2012.

Gosling 'angry at Blue Valentine rating'

Ryan Gosling has slammed the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) for its decision to give Blue Valentine an NC-17 rating.

Talking to E Online, the actor expressed his frustration with the double standards that he believes exist in the film industry.

"The MPAA really needs to...There is something very distorted about this reality that they've created, which is that it is okay to torture women on screen," he explained.

"Any kind of violence towards women in a sexual scenario is fine. But give a woman pleasure, no way. Not a chance. That's pornography."

He added: "[Co-star] Michelle [Williams] is much more zen about it and I'm trying to adopt that way of thinking, which is that movies have a long life.

"The film will have its own life. The important thing is that we're not going to cut it."

Blue Valentine opens December 31 in the US.
