DC planning 'Aquaman' film?

Smallville's Alan Ritchson has claimed that a movie based on DC's Aquaman could be in the works.

In an interview with CBR, the actor - who plays the king of the seas in the television series - said that a solo film featuring the character is "very much a reality".

"A movie, on the other hand, I think is very much a reality. In fact, I think there's one in the works," he said. "Some people in LA are starting to get the ball rolling on that."

However, the star did not reveal if he has been approached to appear in such a project. "I don't know what my involvement would ever be in that, but, yeah, I think it would be cool to see that happen," he added. "But it's just so expensive to do. It's hard to say if it's really going to happen."

Ritchson made his Smallville debut as Arthur Curry and his aquatic alter ego in 2005, before reprising the role two years later. He also revisits the character in the latest episode of the show.

A pilot episode for a live-action Aquaman television series titled Mercy Reef was made in 2006, but never commissioned.

An official announcement regarding a cinematic outing is yet to be made.

The actress recently admitted spearheading a Twitter campaign in an attempt to win herself a role in the upcoming movie.

"We flew on the same flight together but we ended up talking about politics and t-shirts," Dawson told The Hollywood Reporter of her encounter with Abrams. "I'm trying to be cool about it."

The actress also claimed that she had now revealed her desire for a role to Star Trek lead Chris Pine, after previously hiding her self-confessed 'trekkie' status.

Whedon 'wants Jolie for Wonder Woman'

Joss Whedon has declared that he would love Angelina Jolie to play Wonder Woman.

Whedon, who will begin shooting The Avengers in early 2011, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about who he would like to see as the famous superheroine.

"For me, Wonder Woman was basically Angelina Jolie," Whedon said. "She spends a lot of time flying around. She works in a lot of different countries. She’s very global. And she’s appalled by the way people treat each other."

Whedon also revealed that he wrote a Wonder Woman script five years ago that was never produced, and that he modelled the character on Jolie, claiming that she was what he imagined a real Amazonian goddess would be like.

The Avengers is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2012.

Whedon has "mixed emotions" about new Buffy

Joss Whedon has admitted that he has "mixed emotions" about Warner Bros' planned big screen remake of Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Whedon penned the script for the 1992 Kristy Swanson movie before creating the 1997 TV series, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as the titular vampire killer.

"This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths - just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself," he joked to E! Online.

Whedon explained that he had "always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, AFTER".

"I don't love the idea of my creation in other hands, but I'm also well aware that many more hands than mine went into making that show what it was," he continued. "And there is no legal grounds for doing anything other than sighing audibly. I can't wish people who are passionate about my little myth ill."

Yes Man actress Whit Anderson will write the new Buffy movie with Charles Roven (Batman Begins) producing.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer' gets movie remake

Warner Brothers has revealed that it will remake Buffy the Vampire Slayer into a movie.

The Buffy reboot was announced back in May 2009, but it had yet to find a studio. The project will not involve Joss Whedon, who wrote the screenplay for the 1992 movie and created the 1997 TV series. When the update was first revealed, Whedon stated that the project would fare better without his participation.

"I think that's something better left untouched by me. So, I wish them luck," he said.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer tells the story of a teenage girl who discovers that her calling is to defend the world from vampires and other demons. Kristy Swanson played Buffy in the original movie, while Sarah Michelle Gellar portrayed the vampire slayer in the TV series.

According to the Los Angeles Times, actress Whit Anderson (Yes Man) will be writing the new movie's screenplay.

"I didn't really watch much television at all, but I always watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That was the one show I would watch when I got home," Anderson said.

She added: "I just loved this character. I was the same age as Buffy, and it was so rare to have a female lead character on TV in those days who was strong and capable and smart but also allowed to be feminine."

Renner hints at 'Mission' franchise takeover

Jeremy Renner has confirmed that he could take over the Mission: Impossible franchise from Tom Cruise.

The Oscar-nominated Hurt Locker star suggested to MTV that groundwork is being laid for his character Brandt to replace Cruise's IMF agent Ethan Hunt.

"It's a franchise to potentially take over," Renner said. "I can't predict the future and what they want, but that's certainly the idea."

Renner remained tight-lipped on the storyline for the fourth outing in the series, titled Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

"I can't really go into the details of the script, because that's still evolving," he explained. "It's Tom's baby. He's the engine behind the thing. What happens after that, we'll see."

Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Ving Rhames, Josh Holloway, Michael Nyqvist, Léa Seydoux and Anil Kapoor are among the cast for director Brad Bird's new Mission: Impossible, due out in cinemas in December 2011.

Wahlberg confirms 'Uncharted' film role

Mark Wahlberg has confirmed that he will star in the Uncharted movie.

The Three Kings actor said he has agreed to play series protagonist Nathan Drake in the film helmed by David O. Russell.

"David is one of the best writer/directors I've ever worked with. The idea that he has is just insane," he told MTV.

Wahlberg said that discussions have begun on casting Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro for the film.

"That's who [O. Russell] wants to write the parts for. I talked to Pesci about it and I know David's people have talked to [Robert De Niro].

"I'm obviously in whatever David wants to do, but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle."

He added: "It's not going to be the watered-down version, that's for sure."

Wahlberg hopes that filming will begin next summer.

Stone: 'I want to please Spider-Man fans'

Emma Stone has admitted that she wants Spider-Man fans to embrace her portrayal of Gwen Stacy.

The Easy A star told MTV that she has avoided reading feedback about her casting on the internet because she wants to form her own version of the webslinger's love interest.

"There's a part of me that really wants to please people that love Spider-Man or Gwen Stacy and want her to be done justice. I hope they'll give me licence to interpret her my way. But that fanbase, I'm one of them, so I completely understand why they would be judgemental of certain things," she said.

"I try not to look [at stories on the internet] because I do care and I don't want to psych myself out. I kinda have to stay off the internet. I'm not thick-skinned enough. I get too sensitive. I don't want it to affect what I'm doing."

Discussing her preparations for the comic book film, which casts British actor Andrew Garfield as the Marvel hero, Stone revealed that she has returned to her natural blonde hair colour to match Gwen Stacy.

"I looked in the mirror and said, 'Oh my god, it's me again, it's been so long!' she commented. "We're finalising the visual stuff. And I think we'll start actually rehearsing, because we start shooting in two weeks.

"Andrew and I went and learned about science yesterday. Gwen really likes science, so we learned about science. I was home-schooled, so I never went to chemistry class in a traditional setting like Gwen is into. That was really beneficial."
