'Roger Rabbit 2' moving forward "soon"?

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? producer Don Hahn has hinted that a sequel to the 1988 film could be moving forward shortly.

Speaking to Empire, Hahn admitted that their could soon be forward momentum on director Robert Zemeckis's follow-up to his ground-breaking live-action/animated movie.

"Yeah, I couldn't possibly comment. I deny completely, but yeah... if you're a fan, pretty soon you're going to be very, very, very happy," he commented.

Hahn, who is next working with Tim Burton on Frankenweenie and Maleficent, also revealed that a 3D conversion of The Lion King is in the works.

"It's going to be spectacular - we will do a good job for ya!" he said. "The technology is tremendous. We did A Nightmare Before Christmas a few years ago and Tim thought it was better than the original because it allows you to walk on to the set."

Sheen returning for third 'Major League'?

Another Major League movie is reportedly in the works.

David S. Ward, the writer and producer of the original 1989 Major League, has said that he hopes to cast the first film's stars Charlie Sheen, Wesley Snipes and Tom Berenger in what he is calling Major League 3.

"We're actually talking about doing one right now. I've written, what I see, as Major League 3. We're putting that together as we speak," Ward told Moviehole.

The sequel's plot would involve Sheens's character Ricky 'Wild Thing' Vaughn coming out of retirement to work with a young player.

"We've actually got three new characters in the new film. And if the new film is popular, they could carry the franchise on," Ward added.

The director said that he has already spoken to Sheen about reprising the role of Wild Thing.

"He's excited to do it if and when it happens," Ward explained.

"But he can't shoot it this year, because he's back doing Two And A Half Men, but we could potentially shoot it next year - in his hiatus from the show."

Sheen and Berenger also starred in 1994's Major League 2.

The stars did not appear in a third film called Major League: Back to the Minors, released in 1998. Ward served as co-writer on the project.

Brand: 'I'll do different roles in future'

Russell Brand has said that he does not mind playing similar parts in his first film roles.

The comedian reprises the his Forgetting Sarah Marshall rockstar Aldous Snow in Get Him To The Greek but suggested to ShortList that he is not afraid of being typecast.

Brand said: "Down the road I will do different roles. But think of it - who are the best comic actors there have ever been? Richard Pryor, Jim Carrey, Steve Martin, Woody Allen.

"Jim Carrey - you know what's funny about him and what you want to see him do. Often, when those people go, 'Right in this film, I'm going to be completely different'. You think, 'No you f**king ain't! Do The Mask 4!'."

He continued: "I think at the beginning you have a bit where you go, 'This is what I am'. I'm at the very beginning of my career as a film actor.

"It's difficult because I come from TV in England and tabloids so people can go, 'Oh, he did take drugs, he does like women'."

Brand added: "But it doesn't make any difference whether you're playing a rock star or a farmer or an optician. It doesn't matter.

"I'm not a French hunchback with a lisp but I can pretend to do that. But if that's what you really want, go and get a French hunchback with a lisp. He'll be better at it!"

Olyphant wanted for 'Escape From New York'

Escape From New York director Breck Eisner has admitted that he would love Timothy Olyphant to star in the remake.

Speaking to Movieweb, Eisner said that his Crazies lead Olyphant is one of "the few guys" that could take over the Snake Plissken role from Kurt Russell.

"I love working with Timothy Olyphant, and I will be working with him again," Eisner said. "He is an amazing actor. A talented guy. And he's incredibly funny. He needs to do a great comedy, because he is a funny guy. But I will work with him again. I can promise you that."

He continued: "Creatively, he would be great for [Escape From New York]. We have not yet discussed internally within the studio who will play Snake Plissken. There are many factors that go into those discussions. First and foremost, obviously, is the creative one.

"We can't make the movie unless we get the perfect Snake Plissken, and that's a tall order. There are very few guys that could do it. He would definitely be one of the guys who could. There is no question about that."
