'District 9' follow-up 'two years away'

Sharlto Copley has revealed that a District 9 follow-up is two years away.

Copley, who played Wikus van der Merwe in the sci-fi film, told Empire that both he and director Neill Blomkamp are keen to revisit the property.

"Neill wants it and I want it. Neill's doing another film first. Then I think if everything goes according to plan we'll do the second film in about two years time," Copley commented.

The actor added that Blomkamp has not yet decided whether to make the next District film a sequel or prequel.

"That story can go in so many different ways. There's a whole universe," he noted. "I'm sure a lot of writers say that, but we actually have an entire universe. There's a million ways you can go. Neill's actually very interested in prequels as well; he's said that a few times. We wouldn't do the traditional Hollywood version of the sequel which would just be 100 aliens fighting humans."

Copley can next be seen as 'Howling Mad' Murdock in The A-Team, opening in the UK in July.

Murray: 'Ghostbusters 3' is just talk'

Bill Murray has said that Ghostbusters 3 is not yet in the works.

The actor, who starred in the original films alongside Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, had previously revealed details of his upcoming role.

However, he told the Daily Star: "It's just really the movie studio. They love the franchise, they'd just like to re-create it again.

"All this talk is just talk. It drives me nuts, it's just people talking. Until someone actually creates a great script it's just hogwash, it doesn't mean anything."

The star continued: "It's interesting that people are interested in it, they'd like to see it. It was a great thing, it really was fun. Maybe it should [happen]. And if it's such a good idea, then someone will write the screenplay.''

'Anchorman 2' to shoot in 2011

Anchorman 2 is due to start filming in February 2011, according to reports.

Adam McKay, the writer and director of the 2004 original, revealed that Steve Carell, Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd have all signed up for the sequel.

He told MTV: "Graciously, Steve and Paul and everyone agreed to cut their price to come and do the sequel, which you don't see very often in Hollywood - and cut their price substantially. But even with that, it's just a budgetary thing with Paramount in terms of how much they'll give us to make it.

"We had an idea and we contacted Steve and Paul and David Koechner and Christina Applegate and checked in with everyone and they were all game for it. The stage we're at now is talking to Paramount and trying to get the money to do it."

McKay confirmed that the shoot is likely to kick off early next year now that a rough storyline has been drafted.

He explained: "The '80s angle is more the frame of it. We have this other, bigger, crazier idea that's really more what it's about, which I can't say. Our thinking was there's just no way the second one is going to be as good as the first, because the first one is the first one.

"So our idea is if we're going to do a second one, we better go for it and try some insane stuff and we'll be enjoying it and that way it can't be half bad."

Wes Craven: 'Scream 4 to mock Saw'

Wes Craven has said that Scream 4 will lampoon the state of the horror film genre today and will take shots at the Saw franchise.

The movie's director told Entertainment Weekly that the fourth Scream instalment will continue the tradition of exposing the conventions of the slasher plot started by the first three films.

"It feels like the end of an era of a certain type of film. There are series of films, a lot of sequels, and a lot of remakes, and part of the humour of Scream 4 is when characters comment on that. 'Enough of Saw 25 and all'. A lot of films, directors, and studios are the butts of some of the jokes."

He continued by saying that just like in the trilogy, knowing the horror formula will help them beat the Ghostface murderer.

"In order to figure out what's happening around them, the characters have to figure out where the genre of horror is. So this is a look at horror after ten years of a lot of sequels rather than original films coming up year after year. One film is successful, and then they make 25 of them."

The creator also promised a reinvention of horror itself.

"I think it's time for something new. I've done remakes of my own films too, with, The Last House On The Left and The Hills Have Eyes, but we feel it's time for something new and different, and that’s what this film is going to be."

Brendan Fraser: "I needed a bigger butt"

Brendan Fraser has revealed that he put on weight for his part in eco-comedy Furry Vengeance.

The actor told Parade that he needed a bigger bottom for the role of real estate developer Dan Sanders to survive the action sequences.

Fraser said: "I needed a bigger butt on account of there was going be a lot of physical comedy. I get thrown around a lot in the movie. But let's just face it, it's funny. Kids love it. Adults love it.

"They're like, 'Ha-ha, look! Brendan Fraser, the guy who was really buff in all those action movies, has gotten fat'."

He added: "I don't know the number of pounds I gained because, in my real life, I don't step on scales. I don't believe them. I'm like, 'You're a liar'."

Fraser's co-star Brooke Shields has admitted that filming the action scenes in the movie "really hurt".

Cyrus looking forward to Demi Moore movie

Miley Cyrus has said that she is looking forward to working with Demi Moore on LOL.

The Last Song star, who is also a best-selling recording artist, told DS that she hopes the movie will help establish her career on the big screen.

"I would like to continue acting, that's what I really love," she said. "Music is a huge part of my life but acting is definitely something that I'm really looking forward to getting more involved in."

Discussing the Moore collaboration, Cyrus said: "It's about this mum who's going through a mid-life crisis of drugs and all this crazy stuff and she thinks that her daughter will never understand and look up to her anymore because of the choices she makes.

"She then finds her daughter's diary and realises that she's doing worse than her and they go through this crisis together at different points of their life but realise how similar they are. I think it's a really cool story. We're shooting it independently so we can do it exactly with the edginess we want. It'll be a little darker than The Last Song."

Cyrus added that she is "good friends" with Moore and believes their relationship will benefit the movie, which is to be directed by Lisa Azuelos based on her French language original.

The Last Song opens in UK cinemas on April 30.

Evans 'intimidated by 'Captain America'

Chris Evans has revealed that he initially stalled for "a couple of weeks" while deciding whether to accept the role of Captain America.

The 28-year-old was confirmed last month to star as Steve Rogers and his titular alter-ego Captain America in the upcoming action movie.

"It was a couple of weeks of weighing up all the options," he told Empire. "There was certainly a period where I was shying away from the movie.

"It's intimidating. It's pretty daunting. There's certainly a life-changing role there and that was part of the process. Did I want to take this on?

"I like supporting roles, I like the way my life is now and I have the best of both worlds. This would potentially change that. But you know what? This could be a good thing."

Haley: 'Krueger is the ultimate boogey man'

Jackie Earle Haley has said that Freddy Kruger is the ultimate horror villain.

The actor takes on the role made famous by Robert Englund in the upcoming remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Haley told Parade of Krueger: "He is like one of the coolest horror characters, the ultimate boogey man in a campfire story. Back in the mid '80s, there was this bunch of scary guys in hit movies from Michael Myers to Jason Voorhees.

"But I always thought Freddy Krueger was the most interesting because it took an actor to play instead of a stunt guy. I thought Robert Englund was great in the role, and I admit I felt intimidated filling his shoes."

He added of working with the character's famous razor gloves: "They didn't just come on and off. They kinda bolted them down. So a lot of times they would just leave the real sharp metal ones on instead of the plastic ones.

"I was definitely worried about falling on them or cutting somebody. It was kinda scary. I had this scene where I kind of swipe the blades across the chest of one of the young actors and I actually sliced him a little bit. Fortunately, he thought it was funny."
