Strong: 'Sinestro to be true to comics'

Mark Strong has revealed that his take on Green Lantern villain Sinestro will remain close to the original comic book version.

Speaking to MTV, Strong revealed that Sinestro will first be portrayed as a hero in the upcoming film starring Ryan Reynolds.

"For anybody who's familiar with the Green Lantern and the origin story, the film closely follows the early comics," the 46-year-old said.

Strong also revealed that Sinestro would start out as Hal Jordan (Reynolds) militaristic mentor as the Green Lantern.

He added: "It’s the kind of person he is that lends himself to becoming bad over the course of the comics being written, but initially he’s quite a heroic figure."

The actor is expected to begin shooting the Martin Campbell-directed movie in June.

Green Lantern arrives in US cinemas on June 17, 2011.

Barrymore: 'Whip It isn't a chick flick'

Drew Barrymore has insisted that her latest movie is not a "chick flick".

Barrymore, who made her directorial debut with Whip It, explained that the film can appeal to a wide range of people.

According to The Mirror, she said: "I'm a woman so I'm going to make stories about women because I understand them, but I'm also a boy and I can't stand the term 'chick flick'. That turns me off. I'm as turned off by that as any guy because I am a 'dude'."

She added: "I have a very male mentality. The comedy in the film is not little girl comedy. It's boy comedy, it's androgynous comedy."

Barrymore also revealed that she urged the studio to target the film towards men as well as women.

"It was upsetting to have a studio put out, 'It's a roller derby movie'," she admitted. "I kept encouraging them to market to boys and men, because there was a sports element and when I go to roller derby games there are a lot of males. They love the sexiness, the raunchiness and the fun-ness of these girls beating the crap out of each other."
