Sean Penn returns to 'Three Stooges'

Sean Penn is reportedly once again in talks to co-star in the Farrelly Brothers' Three Stooges movie.

Penn dropped out of the project last summer to focus on his family and marriage to Robin Wright-Penn. The couple have since divorced and the actor is now ready to commit to the role of Stooge Larry, according to Bobby Farrelly.

Speaking to The Boston Herald, Farrelly said: "We got him back. He always said he wanted to do it after, you know, taking care of his family."

The film was put on hold in 2009 after Penn left. Bobby and brother Peter had since moved on to another project, the Owen Wilson comedy Hall Pass.

No shooting date was announced for the Stooges movie.

'Spider-Man 4' production stalled?

Production on Spider-Man 4 has reportedly stalled due to a dispute over the film's script.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the sequel could miss its May 5, 2011 release date because of a difference of opinion between director Sam Raimi and Sony Pictures about the story, which has gone through several drafts.

Significant work is still being done on the most recent copy.

Raimi is also said to be insisting that John Malkovich play the film's villain, but Anne Hathaway's reported involvement in the project is now in question.

"I'm not so sure we're going in that direction," an insider said about Hathaway.

Sony has not officially announced the schedule push.

Stallone 'breaks neck filming Expendables'

Sylvester Stallone has claimed that he broke his neck filming a fight scene for his upcoming action movie The Expendables.

The actor-director told FHM that he had to undergo surgery following the on-screen altercation with wrestler 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

Stallone said: "Man, it was seven guys, kicking each other's ass, one guy tougher than the next. No joke, our stunt guys were begging for mercy.

"Actually, my fight with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin was so vicious that I ended up getting a hairline fracture in my neck.

"I'm not joking. I haven't told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation afterwards. I now have a metal plate in my neck."

He added: "Dolph Lundgren and I always went for it. I gave him orders to try to knock me out while the cameras were rolling.

"At one point, he hit me so hard on the top of the head I felt my spine compress. He then hit me with an almighty uppercut."

The movie also features Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham.

Lopez: 'My rom-coms are very layered'

Jennifer Lopez has suggested that her romantic comedies have been successful because they are "very layered".

The actress, who recently finished filming comedy The Back Up Plan, told Elle magazine that she is proud of her previous film work.

"I think Maid In Manhattan and Monster-In-Law are very layered movies. And that’s why they're so successful," she explained.

"People don't like s**tty romantic comedies. Nothing that's s**tty is going to make $100 million."

When asked if she felt competitive towards younger singers and actresses, she replied: "This is what I do - what, because I have kids and a husband now I'm not supposed to be me? I'm a more heightened me if anything. Hyper J.Lo.

"Everything I wanted before, I want twice as much now. And that doesn't mean material things, it means to explore more, to think more. Being an artist doesn't start because you're 21, and it doesn't end because you're 51. You are who you are until the day you die."

Blomkamp details 'District 9' follow-up

Neill Blomkamp has revealed that he is working on the script for his follow-up to last year's sleeper hit District 9.

The South African-born director told the Los Angeles Times that his next film, which has secured financing from Media Rights Capital, will be another sci-fi project.

"It is science fiction and it has many sociopolitical ideas that interest me," Blomkamp said. "Those ideas are wrapped up inside something that is like a Hollywood action film."

The filmmaker noted that he intends to keep the budget for the untitled picture lower than traditional blockbusters: "This next movie will cost more than District 9 but it will cost much, much less than the big summer films. You can do a lot for less now."

Blomkamp also confirmed that he has turned down several offers to helm high-cost Hollywood productions because he wants to hang on to creative control on his movies.

"I've been offered films - a lot of films, in fact - with seriously high budgets, and I've turned them all down," he said. "Once the budgets get bigger, you can't do what you want as a director, unless you're Peter Jackson or James Cameron."

Aronofsky's 'RoboCop' remake put on hold

Darren Aronofsky's RoboCop remake has been put on hold, reports Moviehole.

Studio MGM has halted the sci-fi action movie after failing to agree with Aronofsky on how to approach the special effects work. According to a source from the film's production company Phoenix Pictures, the director is keen to avoid modern, computer-generated techniques.

"The project is on hold," the insider told RoboCop Archive. "The problem is that Mary Parent, chairperson of MGM, wants a 3D movie for the new RoboCop. But, as you know, Darren Aronofsky is a real artist and he's not interested in gimmicks like 3D, CGI [or] filming digital. He wants to do everything as real (organic) as possible just like The Fountain."

Paul Verhoeven's original RoboCop, which was released in 1987, spawned two sequels, a TV series and several video games.

Sarah Jessica Parker: 'SATC 2 is a caper'

Sarah Jessica Parker has said that the upcoming Sex And The City sequel is a "romp" and a "caper".

The actress told BBC Newsbeat that she hopes people will be excited about the upcoming romantic comedy.

Parker said: "I hope it's worthwhile. It's been going beautifully and it's fun and exciting and very much an adventure.

"We've been shooting in Morocco for the past six weeks, we've just wrapped there. I still have some work to complete in New York but it's been great and it's really a romp, it's really a caper this movie. I'm looking forward to people seeing it."

She added: "[Director] Michael Patrick and I had a lot of conversations about whether to do a sequel. I think we just really want it to be good.

"We want it to be worth people leaving their homes for, we want to be worth the price of a ticket. That was the same goal for the first one and it kind of remains the same. I just want it to be good."

Radcliffe: 'Deathly Hallows is toughest yet'

Daniel Radcliffe has said that making Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows has been his toughest challenge yet.

Speaking to Empire, the franchise star revealed that the film's producer David Heyman compared JK Rowling's final novel in the wizard series to Hamlet.

"It is the hardest film to do, absolutely," Radcliffe said. "I'm not sure anyone would disagree with me on that one. But as long as you equal that kind of toughness with you enthusiasm, then it sort of goes away.

"When the seventh book came out, David Heyman finished it a couple of days before I did. He rang up and said, 'How do you fancy playing Hamlet?' Not that I would ever say this is the same, because it's not. I think Hamlet's a lot harder. But yeah, it is a rollercoaster."

Part one of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows will open in cinemas this November.

Hawke hits out at movie running times

Ethan Hawke has hit out at Hollywood's tendency to make movies that are overindulgent and long.

The actor, who stars in this week's vampire film Daybreakers, told the Los Angeles Times that only movies about important subjects should have lengthy running times.

"I don't know what has happened to movies, but lately every movie is at least 20 minutes too long," Hawke commented. "It used to be that if you were three hours long it was because it was epic - a movie about Gandhi; something with very important subject matters.

"Now, it doesn't matter what you're making a movie about; everyone thinks their movie is so brilliant that it has to be three hours long. Not to be critical but... well, we all know which movies those are."

Blomkamp considering 'District 9' prequel

Neill Blomkamp has admitted that he would consider making a prequel to District 9.

Discussing his science fiction movie with the Los Angeles Times, Blomkamp ruled out bringing his South Africa-set alien saga to the small screen and stated his preference to take the story back in time.

"A TV show I wouldn't really want to do... But a sequel might be interesting. I know what I'm doing next so it wouldn't be right away. But the concept of aliens in Johannesburg is such an appealing idea to me and the issues of race and how they meet. All of the things that I had going on with it. I wouldn't mind messing around with it again.

"I'm open to it if the story works and there's a reason to do it. And [Sharlto Copley's character] Wikus is so funny to me, I'm very interested in a sort of passive racist like that. If you go forward it's more of a traditional film but if you go backward I'd be intrigued in that. I'm not so interested in aliens coming back and blowing things up but [a prequel] might be interesting."

Paxton wants to make 3D 'Twister' sequel

Bill Paxton has revealed that he has pitched an idea for a Twister sequel.

Speaking to Bullz-Eye, the actor explained that he came up with a storyline for a follow-up to the 1996 hit after taking a trip through Missouri with his Twister co-star Scott Thomson. Paxton told the website that he was inspired while following the route of the famous 1925 Tri-State Tornado, which crossed the Mississippi and cut into Southern Illinois.

"We just did that to get some ideas, and from that I extrapolated an idea for a sequel," Paxton said. "And I kind of put that together into a format, and now we're waiting to see if that's going to move forward."

Paxton added that he would need approval from producer Steven Spielberg to move forward with the sequel, which he believes could be made with new filmmaking technology: "I think the 3D applications of that could obviously be pretty amazing."

He continued: "I always thought the first Twister was an exciting ride, but I thought a sequel could explore it in a more enthralling way, getting into more of the history and the lore, more of a darker version of the first one."

Twister grossed $490 million at the worldwide box office on its theatrical release and starred Paxton, Helen Hunt, Cary Elwes and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
