Coogan arranging 'Partridge' film over Skype

Steve Coogan has said that he is having to pull together the Alan Partridge movie with co-writers Armando Iannucci and Peter Baynham over Skype.

The British comedy star, who recently confirmed that the untitled film will shoot in America, admitted that Iannucci and Baynham's movie success with In The Loop and Borat have made co-ordinating Partridge's return difficult.

"It's going to happen," Coogan said of the project in an interview with The AV Club. "I'm taking meetings about it next week. It's getting the three most important people - we've sort of splintered.

"It's getting us all in the same space so we can actually focus on it. That's now starting to happen. It was also something that for a while I felt ambivalent about, but I want to do it and get it done."

He continued: "We're having to do Skype and conference calls at the moment. The character, almost despite his success, as a character still makes me laugh. I still find him funny. I still find myself jotting things down, going, 'Oh this would be a funny thing for him to do'. Which is a great thing, when a character just exists in your head."

Parker 'kicked by cow' during filming

Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed that she got kicked by a cow while making her latest movie.

The 44-year-old actress, who co-stars with Hugh Grant in Did You Hear About The Morgans?, said that she did not like having to film scenes with the animal.

Parker told Parade magazine: "I didn't enjoy attempting to milk a cow, or ride a horse, or shoot a rifle. I have other fantasies, none of which include milking a cow!

"The cow kicked me in the middle of the scene and they left it in. It's right there for everyone to see. But I sympathised with the cow. I didn't belong there and she knew it."

Despite the bad experience, Parker said that she enjoyed making the movie with Grant because she had "loved" him for so long.

Singer reveals 'X-Men: First Class' plot

Bryan Singer has revealed plot details for his X-Men: First Class movie.

The director, who announced earlier this week that he will return to the superhero series he started, said that the film will be about a young Professor Xavier and his nemesis Magneto.

"This is the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where their relationship took a wrong turn," Singer told Variety. "There is a romantic element, and some of the mutants from X-Men will figure into the plot, though I don't want to say which ones. There will be a lot of new mutants and a great villain."

The filmmaker added that he is taking inspiration from the recent Batman and Star Trek prequels for First Class.

He explained: "Whether it's Batman, Lord Of The Rings or Star Trek, if the characters are good, you want to see them on their journey even if you know their destiny. I put myself in the fan's position, and I think this story is something I would want to see, and so will they."

20th Century Fox has also enlisted screenwriter Jamie Moss (Street Kings) to rework Josh Schwartz's initial script.

Cameron: 'Terminator Salvation wasn't fresh'

James Cameron has claimed that Terminator Salvation lacked originality.

The Avatar director, who conceived and helmed the first two instalments in the science fiction series, told UGO that he felt McG's film didn't break new ground.

"Interestingly, I think McG did a good job in the sense... I think he was almost too referential to the mythos of the first and second film. He over-quoted them in a way," Cameron said. "It didn't feel to me to be enough of a reinvention. The thing we did with the second film is that we reinvented the first film completely; spun it on its ass and made the Terminator the good guy, and came up with a whole new concept for a villain, it felt fresh.

"I didn't feel the fourth picture was fresh enough. It also lacked a certain stamp of authenticity because Arnold [Schwarzenegger] wasn't in it. I mean, he was in it briefly, digitally, but that's not the same thing."

However, Cameron praised his Avatar star Sam Worthington's performance in Salvation, calling him "remarkable because, well, I think Sam is remarkable in anything he does".

Jude Law promises 'edgier' Watson

Sherlock Holmes star Jude Law has revealed that film fans can expect his version of Dr John Watson to be edgy and bold.

The actor confirmed that the forthcoming movie, which was directed by Guy Ritchie, does not present Watson as a fool as other adaptations have in the past.

Speaking to the Liverpool Daily Post, Law explained: "They were coming to me not to put on two stone and fall around and put my foot in the wastepaper basket, but wanted a Watson with a bit more edge.

"He's been in a brutal war and has experienced horror and physical pain. I wanted to represent him as the slightly more buttoned up, polished professional, with Holmes being the more wayward, eccentric dilettante.

"But he's far from just bumbling along - he's in the middle of the action, sometimes tearing in ahead of Holmes."

Sherlock Holmes will open in the UK on Boxing Day.

Blunt promises witty, smart 'Gulliver'

Emily Blunt has promised that her forthcoming movie Gulliver's Travels will be a "witty and smart" comedy.

The actress, who appears alongside Jack Black in the movie, has reassured fans of Jonathan Swift's novel that the film adaptation will be enjoyable for adults and children alike, STV reports.

The 26-year-old said: "People who are very loyal to the book I'm sure will have their qualms about the fact that we've made this a kind of romping comedy. But it's still very funny.

"I love Gulliver's Travels because it's really smart. It's not fart jokes. You know what I mean? It's not fart jokes. There's not a fart joke in sight. Don't worry. It's very smart and witty. And it's great for kids and adults. There are the in-jokes for the adults. I loved that script. It's great."

As for playing a character who's "not very bright", Blunt added: "I had a really good time with that. I'm a little Lilliputian. Yeah, I'm a little person. I'm obviously only taking on roles where people have to bow to me. I mean, that's literally all I'm doing right now. Queens or princesses, so take your pick."

Gulliver's Travels arrives in US cinemas on December 22.

Ferrell: 'I'm like Batman without the skills'

Will Ferrell has claimed that portraying a police officer has boosted his confidence.

The actor, who plays New York detective Allen Gamble in The Other Guys, has admitted that wearing a law-enforcement costume made him feel like a superhero, STV reports.

The 42-year-old said: "It's a great feeling of self-esteem to walk around these streets with a badge and a gun. I've been asked to leave the props at home, because I apprehended a couple of suspects last weekend, and it's truly none of my business. I've really become a vigilante for law and justice.

"I'm like Batman. But without any of the skills, whatsoever."

The Other Guys, starring Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, arrives in US cinemas on August 6, 2010 and in the UK on September 2, 2010.

Grant talks SJP and his bad acting

Hugh Grant has reportedly insisted that he's a terrible actor.

Grant who recently revealed that he thinks of himself as a "very limited" actor, has admitted that his least favourite aspect about making a movie is the "acting", The Huffington Post reports.

The 49-year-old said: "The one part that is probably my least favourite is the acting. I did it as a joke job for a year after I left university. And I was so bad in the first things I did, I thought, 'I've got to do another job to prove that I'm not quite that bad'. And that's gone on for 27 years now."

Grant, who co-stars alongside Sarah Jessica Parker in the comedy Did You Hear About The Morgans?, has claimed that the actress has an insatiable appetite for such a petite woman.

He added: "She's a laugh. She's eccentric and very funny, weird sensibility. Very surprising things with Sarah Jessica, like the amount that she eats or the interest she takes in food, gigantic for a woman who's tiny.

"I've never seen a woman eat that much or that voraciously. She's like a locust."

Did You Hear About The Morgans? is currently playing in the US and arrives in UK cinemas on January 1, 2010.

Guy Ritchie denies 'Lobo' link

Director Guy Ritchie has denied claims that he is confirmed to direct a movie adaptation of Lobo.

The news has prompted some to instead link the Sherlock Holmes director to the film version of DC Comics' WWII battle-hardened hero, Sgt Rock.

Ritchie was asked about his connection to Lobo during an interview with MTV News.

He said: "Is it a matter of fact that I'm doing it? I don't think it's a matter of fact. In fact, I can tell you it's not a matter of fact."

When pressed further to reveal any involvement, Ritchie replied: "Isn't there a fifth amendment or something?"

Last month producer Joel Silver revealed that a test of Lobo had been filmed but it was up to studio bosses whether to go ahead with the project.
