The Gentleman's(and not so) Club

Congrats on the Ipad.

Hope you feel better soon Bala.  Myself, I like steaming a cold, I'll start with a very hot shower, then just sit for a while with all the steam.  It doesn't cure it, but cleans the nose and lungs, which lessens the irritation on the throat.

I agree Barb, this whole 3D thing, has gone crazy, I give it a year or two, then it will die out.  And the 3D tv, I watched 3 minutes and got a headache from the glasses.  I prefer substance of a show or movie over graphics anyway, so bluray and HD don't do much for me.

Heck, I was only able to watch 20 minutes of Avatar as I found the story recycled and boring and the graphics (and yes I was watching it in 3D) didn't make up for it.

Well there is always stretching and doing squats, jogging in place, playing Wi, etc.  I have a project that keeps me busy, work, not that I always want to go and do it

Tv's like most electronics (including cars) are made to be pretty well disposable now.  Look at price drops on tvs, every 6 months prices drop.  So in many instances, it is cheaper for a technician (not repairman anymore) to simply replace the whole machine than to try to fix it, as the time and money spent fixing it would be worth more than the electronic goods.  If they took the tv, then they will either send it back to manufacturer (where it might get refurbished and sold for a discount) or in some cases they just destroy the tv.

For a brief time, I worked in repairs at a sears, and many of the tv's and other electronics that got returned, ended up being destroyed and thrown in the compactor.

I have had a hard week, other than being a week behind on viewing my shows(and will fall farther until they convert my points, been 3 weeks since I requested ) , I had to drive 700 miles to be with my grandfather as he died.  He was a good man and will be missed and as soon as I got back, I am in a 4 day training that last almost 12 hours a day.

Hope your alls week has been better

But by those lazy SOB's the rest are paying for, not the government, and it is hurting the economy, at least in the US

What shinny has said is so true.  Having actively looked for work for the last 5 years (am working right now, just not what i want to be doing) sometimes putting down non-paying jobs and hobbies is the best.  Also, though it is hard, taking a job that doesn't pay well or you won't be happy in, is much better than not working, and it keeps the gaps filled.  I am fairly lucky, I have run my own business on the side for so long that I never have gaps.  But did have one employer tell me, "Self-employment is just another word for unemployment."  Might have to Incorporate

In today's world, with the pay scale like it is, an average person, unless they live really frugally, has a very hard time to save enough to live off after retirement.  At least in the US it is.  That is why we have more and more retirerees in the US, who end up getting menial jobs at retail(WalMart) and fast food (McDonalds)

Barb, you have really hit it on the head.  Time & effort is a big thing, also volunteering at places is a big help.  it shows perspective empoyers that you are not just sitting around waiting, but doing something.

each their own,    I myself use a multitude of USB hubs, some four port has two on each side, so only plugging in on 1 side of each (using 2 ports) gives much space
