Melrose Place Season 1 Episode Guide
Episode 1: Pilot
At 4616 Melrose Place, another generation of young adults and best friends have settled in to get by any way they can. Lauren Yung is a part-time med student. Auggie Kirkpatrick is a surfer, who works at a sous chef at a trendy restaurant, named Coal, which is the gang's hang-out place. Ella Simms, an amorous and aggressive bisexual Hollywood publicist, is determined to find her "Mr. Right" or her "Miss Right" and will do anything to get what she wants. David Breck, the resident bad boy and the illegitimate son of Dr. Michael Mancini, struggles to get out from under the thumb of his amoral father. Sydney Andrews is the current building landlord seeking her own agenda with David, who she is involved in protecting some terrible secret. Riley Richmond is a good-natured 1st grade school teacher, currently in a five-year relationship with Jonah Miller. Jonah is an aspiring filmmaker who struggles with his career and a commitment to Riley. Violet Foster is the newest resident, and despite her innocent act, seems to be hiding something. But suddenly, there is a murder, and everyone is a suspect due to their mysterious pasts.
Episode 2: Nightingale
Upon learning that her job may be in jeopardy due to a merger, Ella enlists David's help to attend a high society party with hopes of landing a major client at the event. Lauren agrees to go on another date for money, but her secret may be blown when her date unknowingly takes her to the same party as Ella and David. Meanwhile, a detective arrives and questions Auggie regarding the recent murder, and Riley and Jonah begin to suspect that something is up with Violet when they catch her acting strangely in a surveillance video.
Episode 3: Grand
Jonah becomes infuriated when he discovers that his fiancée has not yet informed her family and friends about their engagement, forcing Riley to turn to Auggie for comfort. Meanwhile, Ella recruits Jonah to direct a music video when the original director bails on the job, Lauren applies to be on Michael's group at the hospital, Violet continues to pursue Auggie, and David blames Michael for Sydney's murder.
Episode 4: Vine
Sydney's sister inherits Melrose Place and starts to shake things up with Ella, and leaves the other residents talking. Violet has police officers after her skin and runs away, while Lauren still sees the man paying her for sex.
Episode 5: Canon
Ella is brought into the police station for questioning about Sydney's murder, thanks to Jane's anonymous tip. Lauren thinks of blowing off her shopping date with Riley to impress her new boss. Jonah is accused of stealing a diamond necklace from a mansion he videotaped for a Realtor, Ella mentions to Jonah about a similar one she saw in David's apartment. Violet sabotages another employee so she can get closer to Auggie at work.
Episode 6: Shoreline
Riley is approached by a famous fashion designer and decides she must be the new face of his denim jeans campaign, much to Ella's dismay. Wendi sends Lauren on a yacht but she panics when she sees David there too. Violet fakes an illness so she can see Michael at the hospital, as part of her plan to get back at him for the way he treated Sydney. Jonah is excited about the opportunity that came his ways, Riley then turns downs the offer from Anton V.
Episode 7: Windsor
Ella and Riley meet the photographer Jo Reynolds at the Anton V photo shoot. To help Riley get in touch with her emotions Jo pressures her into doing a topless shoot. Jonah and Kendra meet up for drinks.
Episode 8: Gower
Riley and Jonah get into an argument as Riley helps him Jonah film a wedding for his latest assignment. Ella confronts Lauren about her mysterious new lifestyle. David had doubts about his involvement in Sydney's death since he can't remember the details of the night she died.
Episode 9: Ocean
After learning Auggie's blood was on the murder weapon that killed Sydney, his apartment is searched they then demand the other residents say where he went that night. Riley is conflicted about helping the police, but Jonah pushes to do so as she knows where Auggie is staying. Jonah pretends he's engaged to Ella who really gets into the role playing. David arranges a secret play date with his brother Noah, but after the he hurts himself, Lauren must come to the rescue and risk the wrath of Michael finding out.
Episode 10: Cahuenga
Ella and Caleb are stunned when agency owner Amanda Woodward walks into WPK and immediately fires half the staff, including Caleb. Amanda threatens Ella that the Anton V launch party with Riley better go off without a hitch or she'll be fired too. Auggie finally succumbs to Violet's flirtatious ways. David asks Lauren to go out on a date with him.
Episode 11: June
Amanda sets her sight on David. David and Lauren continue to bond. Ella tries to get her way and help Jonah obtain a new job. Michael is caught in David's apartment and is arrested for Sydney's murder. Jonah discovers Ella's betrayal in his name being taken off the movie and she didn't fight for him. Amanda announces to everyone in the courtyard that she'll be living in Sydney's penthouse til her Malibu mansion is built.
Episode 12: San Vicente
Jonah asks Riley travel to Las Vegas to avoid having the stress of a big wedding. Ella tells Jonah arranges a meeting with a producer Curtis Heller for him. Amanda recalls her last visit with Sydney accusing her of betraying her. Vanessa visits Michael in jail confronting him about Sydney, Michael says he knows she killed her. Riley tells Auggie her plans to elope. Michael calls David and reveals that Vanessa killed Sydney and to get Noah and keep him safe. Lauren seeks David for help after some problems she has with her clients. Amanda and Violet find a common interest.
Episode 13: Oriole
Amanda puts Ella in charge of a lavish party at her house for the arrival of her boyfriend Ben. Riley asks Jonah if they can start over. Violet sees Auggie had been drinking, she tries to get him to leave town with her. Amanda spies Ella and Ben together in a compromising position, she lashes out. Lauren goes to David grateful for him standing up to her. Jonah admits to Riley that he slept with Ella after she called off the wedding.
Episode 14: Stoner Canyon
A new tenant, Drew Pragin, moves into Auggie's old apartment and immediately clashes with Lauren, who becomes even more upset when she learns that he is the hospital's newest resident. Amanda is furious when Riley asks Ben for a job, and David receives some life-changing news from an unexpected source. Meanwhile, Ella makes an unrealistic demand of Jonah, which ends up backfiring.
Episode 15: Mulholland
Ella is overwhelmed by Jonah's attention, she thinks couple hood might not suit her. Lauren succumbs to Michael's threats. David decides to buy Coal, but the price is a lot higher than he thought. Drew moonlights in a band. Amanda catches Ben and Riley in a compromising position.
Episode 16: Santa Fe
Ella discovers someone is embezzling from WPK and framing her for it, she investigates and starts with Jo, who concludes Amanda is up to her old tricks again. Jonah decides to throw a party in the courtyard to celebrate his newfound success. Jane confronts Amanda for not firing Ella and runs into Michael. Lauren is shocked after Michael tells her he'll reveal her secret if she doesn't sleep with him, she makes a harsh decision. Riley and Drew share a sweet date.
Episode 17: Sepulveda
David's new role as a restaurant owner is put to the test after he loses some of his wait staff on the same day an important food critic has come to review Coal. In an effort to get David to forgive her, Lauren helps out by pitching in as a waitress and hostess. Ella plans to hack into the WPK files to erase the fake evidence framing her for embezzlement, but she has to turn to David for help when Jonah disagrees with her plan. Drew helps Riley throw a fund raiser to support her education foundation, and things go awry when Drew auctions off a date with Riley and he and Jonah get into a bidding war.
Episode 18: Wilshire
Amanda fires Ella from WPK, Ella then searches for anything to blackmail Amanda. Unfortunately for one of the ladies, the end result is worse than she could have ever imagined because only one will be left standing when the episode ends. After attending a NYU reunion, Jonah asks Riley to reconcile and Lauren and David get back together but a jealous Morgan retaliates and puts Lauren's life in jeopardy. Drew tries to stop Michael from performing a dangerous surgery, but Michael sets Drew up to get caught with drugs, causing Drew to be thrown out of ULA. Sydney makes a surprise appearance.
