Growing Up Fisher Premieres on NBC on February 23, 2014

It's not every family that's brought closer together by divorce, but then again, the Fishers are anything but typical. Take Mel Fisher (J.K. Simmons, "The Closer," "Law & Order"), for example. He's chopping down trees, showing his daughter how to drive, and playing football with his son… except that Mel's blind. Then there's Joyce (Jenna Elfman, "Dharma & Greg," "1600 Penn"), who is your typical teenager - really into fashion, busy with school - but the problem is she's Mom. That makes it difficult for her actual teenage daughter, Katie (Ava Deluca-Verley, "Southland"), whose advice (and clothes) Joyce is always seeking. At the center of all this is Henry (Eli Baker), the Fishers' 11-year-old son. Having always been his dad's eyes and wingman, Henry is less than thrilled when his job is outsourced to Mel's new guide dog, Elvis. While the boy is at first reluctant to accept the changes that Elvis brings, adult Henry (voiceover by Jason Bateman, "Arrested Development," "Identity Thief") realizes upon reflection that his parents' split finally allowed the Fishers to become one happy (divorced) family.


Inspired by his own life, DJ Nash ("Up All Night," "Bent") serves as executive producer along with Bateman, Jim Garavente ("Identity Thief") and Tucker Cawley ("Up All Night," "Everybody Loves Raymond"). "Growing Up Fisher" is a production of Universal Television and Aggregate Films.

The hotel guy saying did you not see the no dogs allowed sign was amusing as Mel had a guide dog and the fact he's a successful lawyer had the guy worried but pretending to loose the dog to bring the family together was sneaky

Henry using his Dad's guide dog to impress a girl was bound to backfire but Mel going along with it was amusing

Henry wanting to be first to ask out Jenny before Mel asked her mother Allison out but Allison asking Mel out first only made things awkward

I cant believe Mel ignored his dog but then again a hole like that should of had barriers around

I'm not surprised Joyce got fired from her new job after making excuses for her start time but the fact she hadn't actually started was amusing but working at Mel's law firm was even worse and Katie helping Henry with his crush on Jenny was nice but looks like she has a boyfriend

Mel finding marijuana in Katie's bag was unfortunate as Joyce left it there when she borrowed it and Henry and his best friend Runyen going on a quest to see the one thing a boy must see before he goes blind but going in the boys locker room instead of the girls was amusing

Mel embarrassing Katie after she gets her driver's license was unfortunate but Katie standing up for her dad after they wanted him to leave because of his dog was awesome

Mel being grateful for being blind was amusing as he barged in on his naked friend and Runyen's mother saying Henry is a bad influence was surprising, Katie thinking she could fool Mel with a house full of friend was amusing

Katie learning to stand up for themselves at the furniture store was surprising but Joyce taking the other desk after all that waiting was amusing

Mel trying to win over Allison by offering to cook for her was crazy as he cant cook and the fact the last time was a disaster, Katie telling Joyce she was going to sleep with Anthony after the dance was surprising

It's a good job Mel was blind as Katie ignored him about getting a job and Henry finding out the kids at his school think his mother is a MILF was interesting as he didn't know the whole meaning of the word

Joyce's sister, Madi causing trouble was amusing but what she did to Katie's hair was terrible and Mel trying to prove he can take care of things wasn't going well

Jenny tagging along on the vacation was great as Henry had a crush on her but trust the dog to destroy the hotel room after the trouble they had getting it in the first place
