Season 2
1. First Thing We Do, Let's Kill All the Lawyers
Will, Mac, and the rest of the 'News Night' staff begin giving depositions to a high-powered ACN lawyer. The team is in major trouble due to botched reporting. Flashbacks begin to reveal exactly what happened. Meanwhile, an inflammatory remark gets Will pulled from ACN's 9/11 coverage, a heartbroken Jim volunteers to fill in for a embedded reporter on the Romney campaign bus, and Neal investigates the growing 'Occupy Wallstreet' movement.
2. The Genoa Tip
The team gets a seemingly reliable tip on the story that will eventually bring 'News Night' to its knees. Mac and Sloan pressure Will to cover the USA's use of drones more heavily on the show. Meanwhile, Don advocates for condemned prisoner Troy Davis, and urges Will to take sides on the case on the air. Lisa finally sees the Youtube video of Maggie, and ends their friendship. Neal gets arrested at an 'Occupy Wallstreet' protest.
3. Willie Pete
Will learns that reporter Nina Howard has learned the truth about why Will was removed from the 9/11 coverage, but instead of spinning a web lies, Will decides to take the novel approach of telling her the bold-faced truth about the story. Back at the studio, Jerry Dantana, Neal, and the team attempt to track down a foreign witness to the Genoa operation on Twitter. In New Hampshire, Jim finds himself the Romney campaign bus' resident punching bag.
4. Unintended Consequences
Maggie attempts to convince ACN lawyer Rebecca that she is mentally stable, but finds it difficult. Neal's 'Occupy' contact becomes enraged after a hostile interview with Will, and refuses to provide needed information on a story. Jim gets chewed out by Mac for giving up a guaranteed interview with Mitt Romney in order to save Hallie from further trouble with her own boss.
5. News Night With Will McAvoy
Will struggles with the toughest broadcast of his life, after he receives a call relaying terrible news about his estranged father. An off-the-record chat with an old friend from the Office of Naval Intelligence further convinces Charlie of Genoa's authenticity. Sloan is stunned and humiliated when a jilted ex-boyfriend posts private nude photos of her on the internet.
6. One Step Too Many
Mac and Charlie obtain an interview with a possibly damning witness to Operation Genoa. In an effort to improve his public image, Will makes a disastrous appearance on ACN's morning chat show. Jim's reunion with Hallie is complicated by various uninvited guests. Jerry Dantana makes a decision that could cost him his entire career.
7. Red Team III
The newsroom staff finishes giving their depositions about the Genoa debacle to Rebecca. In an unexpected surprise, it is revealed that the lawsuit ACN is battling is a wrongful termination suit by Jerry Dantana. Dantana was fired after editing the Gen. Somtonovich interview, and is now trying to take the network to the cleaners. Seeing no other way out, Will, Mac, and Charlie all prepare to present their resignations to ACN owner Leona Lansing.
8. Election Night, Part 1
In the wake of Leona’s (Jane Fonda) refusal to accept the resignations of three top ACN talents, “News Night” goes forward with its 2012 election night coverage, featuring Will (Jeff Daniels) in the unlikely role of director of morale. Sloan (Olivia Munn) is perturbed that her book was auctioned off with a forged signature, while Mac (Emily Mortimer) tasks Neal (Dev Patel) to fix a faulty Wikipedia page. Mindful that Charlie (Sam Waterston) wants a screw-up-free evening, Jim (John Gallagher, Jr.) weighs the cons of retracting a call he made too soon. The team deliberates whether to hold off on a story that might affect a tight Senate race.
9. Election Night, Part 2
As election night 2012 winds down, Will and Charlie await a decision from Reese (Chris Messina) that may impact their future at ACN, and that of the entire senior staff. Sloan learns the identity of the anonymous winning bidder for her book; Don (Thomas Sadoski) discusses a countersuit against Jerry (Hamish Linklater) with Rebecca (Marcia Gay Harden); Neal turns to Hallie (Grace Gummer) for help giving Mac a parting gift; Jim tries to make peace with Lisa (Kelen Coleman), encouraging Maggie (Alison Pill) to do the same; Will has a revelation while Charlie is sharing his.
