Will Sasso cast in Farrellys' 'Three Stooges'

Will Sasso has reportedly been signed up by the Farrelly brothers to star in their upcoming remake of the comedy classic The Three Stooges.

According to Deadline, the $#*I My Dad Says star will portray Curly, a part originally played by the late Jerome Howard.

While the roles of Larry and Moe have yet to be officially cast, The Simpsons voice actor Hank Azaria is said to be the frontrunner to play authoritarian Moe, while former X-Men actor James Marsden is up for the part of simpleton Larry.

"There will be non-stop slapping, more in the tone of Dumb And Dumber than anything else we've done," the Farrelly brothers said of the project. "It's by far the riskiest project we've ever done, without question, but it is also the one closest to our hearts."

Other actors rumoured to be under consideration for the film include Justin Timberlake, Larry David and Johnny Knoxville.

Further casting announcements for The Three Stooges are expected over the next few weeks.

Jamie Bell: 'Tintin looks better than Avatar

Jamie Bell has revealed some of the first details surrounding his upcoming role in the Steven Spielberg-directed film The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn.

The young actor, who recently starred in historical epic The Eagle, insisted that the film's motion-capture effects are potentially better than that of James Cameron's Avatar.

"It's never looked this good before," Bell told IGN recently. "I don't think motion-capture has ever met with the right material yet, and Tintin is perfect because we needed control of the world."

Bell revealed that he had already seen finished footage, and even teased some of the sequences featured in the family film.

"The story really spans across many different landscapes," Bell explained. "At one point we're in the middle of the ocean and then there's a sequence set in the desert, there's an airplane sequence in it, which is very exciting and fantastical.

"And this is all stuff from the book, so to the fans who know it, they'll know what I'm talking about," the actor added, referring to Georges 'Hergé' Remi's original comic strip.

Simon Pegg recently revealed that Spielberg had been patiently waiting for film technology to catch up with his vision for the film adaptation.

The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn is scheduled to be released on December 23.

Tara Reid denies 'Piranha 2' rumours

Tara Reid has denied claims that she has signed on to appear in the upcoming comedy horror sequel Piranha 3DD.

It was recently claimed that the former American Pie star had been cast in the film alongside Glee actor Mark Salling. However, Reid has now clarified the situation.

"I don't even know what that's about," she told Entertainment Weekly this weekend. "We knew nothing about that.

"We don't even know where that came from," the actress added.

Following the reports, a spokesperson for the Weinstein Company confirmed that neither actor has signed on for the sequel at the present time.

Feast director John Gulager will helm the follow-up to last year's remake, and it is believed that Ving Rhames is in talks to return for the second film.

It was recently reported that Reid was among the original cast members considering signing on for a new American Pie movie.

Piranha 3DD is expected to be released at some point this year.

I don't think she would be a very good fit for this kind of movie.

Amy Adams cast as 'Superman's Lois Lane

Academy Award-nominated actress Amy Adams has been cast to play Lois Lane in Warner's upcoming reboot of the Superman franchise.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Adams was given the news earlier today by the film's director Zack Snyder.

"There was a big, giant search for Lois," Snyder explained. "For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role."

Over the past few months, several actresses had been rumoured to be in contention for the part, including Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart, Dianna Agron and Rachel McAdams.

"We did a lot of auditioning, but we had this meeting with Amy Adams, and after that I just felt she was perfect for it," Snyder added.

It is currently unknown as to how much screen time Lane will have in the reboot, due to rumours suggesting that Lane won't be the film's female lead. However, Snyder himself described Lane's role as the "linchpin" that holds the story together.

Adams is probably best known for playing the lead role in Disney's live-action fantasy film Enchanted, but also received Academy Award nods for both the indie film Junebug and last year's The Fighter.

The actress will join previously-announced cast members Henry Cavill as Superman, Kevin Costner as Pa Kent and Diane Lane as Ma Kent when the film begins shooting later this year.

Superman: The Man of Steel is expected to be released in December 2012.

Gary Oldman hints at Nolan 'Batman' return

Gary Oldman has hinted that Christopher Nolan could return to the Batman series after The Dark Knight Rises.

Speaking to Digital Spy at the Jameson Empire Awards, Oldman - who plays Commissioner James Gordon in the superhero series - said that he isn't ruling out the possibility of Nolan coming back to make a fourth Batman.

The director previously stated that The Dark Knight Rises will be his final Batman movie.

Oldman said: "Chris is always negotiating so when he says that [he won't come back], I don't know, but he kind of brings [TDKR] round to Batman Begins - it's a really thrilling story, it would have to be to top The Dark Knight."

Oldman will begin work on The Dark Knight Rises in May after completing The Wettest County In The World with Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf.

X-Men: First Class' actress hints at trilogy

Rose Byrne has confirmed that there is a good chance that there may be future instalments of Matthew Vaughn's upcoming superhero prequel X-Men: First Class.

Despite remaining coy as to whether talks have already taken place regarding a follow-up, the Damages actress did admit that there was the distinct possibility the franchise could continue.

"Technically we all, I think, had to get on for three," Byrne told Cinema Blend, regarding a potential prequel trilogy. "But you know sequels.

"We'll just wait for the first one to come out and see how it all unfolds," she continued.

Byrne admitted that while she had not seen the original X-Men trilogy before signing on to star as Professor Moira McTaggert, she can now see that there is a definite change of tone between them.

"It's going to be a lot of fun, it's an ensemble, we have a great cast," the actress added. "I think it's going to be a whole reinvention of the films."

X-Men: First Class will be released in UK cinemas on June 2, and in the US the following day

Joel Edgerton 'serious contender for Bourne

Joel Edgerton could be the actor to take over from Matt Damon as Jason Bourne.

The 36-year-old Aussie actor, who was recently named 'Best Supporting Actor' at the Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards for his role in Animal Kingdom, is in the running for the movies alongside Garrett Hedlund, Luke Evans and Dominic Cooper.

Edgerton's representative told The Daily Telegraph that the actor is a serious contender for the part and said: "It would be a great role for him."

The star has reportedly met up with the movie's writer and director Tony Gilroy and will return to LA for screen tests next month.

Edgerton revealed earlier this year that he would love to take up directing as a career, saying: "I'd hate to assume that suddenly [my acting] would make me qualified to be a director. I so want to take that part of my life seriously, but I want to take it slowly as well."

Other actors previously linked to the Bourne role include Shia LaBeouf, Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Hartnett and Tobey Maguire.

In my opinion he is a poor choice if he does indeed get the lead role.

Uma Thurman reveals next Tarantino movie

Uma Thurman has confirmed that Quentin Tarantino's follow-up to Inglourious Basterds will be a Western film titled A Southern.

Thurman, who worked with Tarantino on Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, told Hollywood Outbreak that the director's new movie will push back their reunion on another picture about Kill Bill's The Bride.

"I think he has a script ready to start off a new film, A Southern," Thurman said. "I think it's really exciting. It's another new story and a fresh piece of material that he is channeling at the moment. So I think Kill Bill lives down the road."

Tarantino reportedly delivered the script for A Southern this month and has cast his Oscar-winning Basterds actor Christoph Waltz in one of the lead roles.

The filmmaker first outlined his plans for the Western in a 2009 interview with NY Daily News: "I'd like to do a Western. But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let's shine that light on ourselves.

"You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it A Southern."

Tarantino recently become embroiled in a legal battle with True Blood creator Alan Ball, claiming that his neighbour's loud pet macaws were preventing him from working.

Jennifer Garner To Star In Disney's Miss Marple Reboot

Jennifer Garner will be the actress who puts a young spin on Miss Marple in Disney's reboot of the Agatha Christie mystery series sleuth. The character had been portrayed by a long line of actresses who played Marple as an elderly spinster who cracked crimes in her spare time. Garner and her Vandalia Films partner Juliana Janes will produce a film that will be shaped as a star vehicle for Garner, the former Alias star who will next be seen in Arthur.

Disney has made a deal to revive the Agatha Christie mystery series staple character Miss Marple, but with one big difference: instead of the elderly spinster who lives in the English village of St. Mary Mead and solves mysteries as a hobby, the new configuration is for Mark Frost to script a version where Marple is in her 30s or 40s. Deadpool' producer: 'Film is a total reboot

Lauren Shuler-Donner, a producer on the upcoming film Deadpool, has revealed that the movie will be entirely unrelated to the other films in the X-Men franchise.

According to Screen Rant, Shuler-Donner stated that the Deadpool movie will not be based on the previous X-Men films.

"It's a total reboot… It's insane, it's definitely comedy," said Shuler-Donner. "But it's an R script, it's really irreverent and violent. Right away, we're out of the X-Men world."

Actor Ryan Reynolds portrayed the character of Deadpool in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds recently revealed that he hopes to reprise the character in the future. He has also promised a darker movie, saying that his character will be "a nasty piece of work".

Formula 1 racing driver Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that he is joining the cast of Disney Pixar's Cars 2.

The 2008 world champion revealed the news on his official Twitter account yesterday afternoon, posting a teaser image of his character and a video.

He said: "Hey guys, big news - I'm going to be in @DisneyPixar's #Cars2! Take a look at my car... This is wicked."

Chris Pine's Jack Ryan film delayed

Paramount has temporarily shelved its reboot of the Jack Ryan franchise with Chris Pine in the lead role.

According to Deadline, the studio has abandoned plans to make the spy thriller before Pine's next outing as James T. Kirk in the Star Trek series in 2012.

The Ryan series relaunch, which has Lost director Jack Bender at the helm, has reportedly been struck by production problems, with Paramount unable to finalise an origin story script.

The movie will centre around Tom Clancy's CIA agent in his early years, with a helicopter crash that happened during his time as a US Marine serving as a jumping off point.

Hossein Amini, Adam Cozad and Anthony Peckham have all worked on the Ryan script, which at one point was titled Moscow, but no draft has been met with studio backing.

Clancy debuted Jack Ryan in his 1984 novel The Hunt For Red October and the story was adapted for the big screen with Alec Baldwin playing the character.

Harrison Ford took on the role in Patriot Games and Clear And Present Danger before handing it over to Ben Affleck in The Sum Of All Fears.

Warner Bros: 'Batman franchise to be rebooted

Warner Bros chief Jeff Robinov has admitted that Batman is going to be "reinvented".

Robinov explained that after the third in the current Batman series, the franchise will be completely altered.

He further revealed that current director Christopher Nolan will produce the reboot alongside wife Emma Thomas.

Robinov said: "We have the third Batman, but then we'll have to reinvent Batman."

When asked if he meant a reboot, he replied: "I do. Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is."

In addition, superhero film Justice League is set to be released in 2013, a year after The Dark Knight Rises and Superman: Man of Steel come to the big screen.

However, the director and stars of the film are yet to be decided.

Also on Warner Bros' agenda are movies The Flash and Wonder Woman, which are expected to spin off from the Justice League film. Greg Berlanti allegedly turned in a script for The Flash last December, yet no news has been heard since.

Robinov commented: "Wonder Woman could be a film as well, the same way that Superman Returns came out while Smallville was on."
