This brand new six-part series explores the personal and professional lives of DC Janet Scott (Lesley Sharp) and DC Rachel Bailey (Suranne Jones), both members of Syndicate 9, a division of Manchester Metropolitan Police.

Janet is subtle, reliable and a diplomatic thinker with a wry sense of humour, which makes her the perfect foil for Rachel. She has two daughters and is in a marriage that can often feel like nothing more than a convenient arrangement to both her and her husband. Behind her straight facade is a woman who is capable of infidelity and has suffered an emotional breakdown over the murder of a childhood friend, an event which drove her to join the police force.

Rachel is energetic, impulsive, and bold. Her intuition makes her a great cop, although her boss unfairly views her as a liability. Often burning the candle at both ends, Rachel's spur of the moment ideas and vulnerability often lead to disaster in her private life and subsequent law breaking of her own.

Both competent and ambitious, neither women suffer fools, and despite their obvious differences, they draw on each other's strengths every day to deal with the extreme and horrific crimes committed over love, hatred and revenge.

Some detective Rachel is when her love life ends up taking a turn for the worse and the guy she thought was going to propose after two years together turned out he wanted to break up instead and was also married with kids but in fairness to the case which she solved before the DNA evidence came back and not bad compensation

I have recorded this first episode and have yet to watch it.  I figure its a UK Cagney and Lacey if anyone remembers that lol.

Another good episode with Rachel arresting the teenage murderer when she recognised his watch from CCTV footage but then finding out he had done it before and his mother had hidden his blood stained cloths was diabolical but she payed the ultimate price when the latest victims son set fire to her home killing her daughter

Rachel's ex-partner who was defending Georgios Stelikos was interesting especial when he attacked Rachel's method of getting Hannah to testify and to add insult to injury he was found not guilty and all because of their pillow talk about the case. Stelikos being discovered later dead would mean Hannah was the prime suspect after what happened outside court

Janet's husband suspecting she had an affair was interesting especially when he mentioned about the night she was supposed to of stopped at Rachel's place and i cant believe Vicky / Myra Hindley almost go away with murder but for the quick thinking about her jewelry

Wow what an episode with Janet getting a step closer to finding Veronica's killer but Rachel finding out it was Geoff all along was a surprise and Nick being worried that Rachel might talk after she learnt about an affair he once had with a juror will be interesting

Rachel was lucky when a car narrowly ends up missing her and Rachel running after the driver after he flees the scene was impressive but discovering the next day that the crash is linked to the disturbing information she discovered about Nick’s affair with a juror was a shock but Nick getting arrested for it was great but she nearly lost her job after they found out she PNC'ed his car for her own personal use

Rachel allowing her convicted brother Dominic to stay after he turned up at her doorstep at 11 o’clock at night was nice considering her job so asking him to find a job and put his criminal past behind him was the only thing she could do but how unfortunate he set fire to her kitchen, Janet's row with her husband because of her mother staying was terrible but giving him an ultimatum was a surprise but the Nadia knocked Rachel down and almost strangled her was a close call

Nadia saying no comment when asked if she wants a cup of tea was amusing but keeping quiet knowing her brother is dead was strange and the over did the no comment routine with all three of them saying the same thing and then when they start talking they all blame each other which was interesting

Rachel finding out that Dom is renting himself by having sex with men for money was disturbing and Gill informing Rachel that the CPS are not going to charge Nick was a surprise and should be interesting

Dom was lucky when his HIV test result came back negative but Rachel missing her sergeant’s exam because he crashed her car was terrible and I'm not  surprised she was furious and how tragic to find the body of the missing 8-year-old boy called Dylan in a wheelie bin

Janet learning much more than she bargained for when she finally has the interview with Geoff was interesting but he did know how to push her buttons and what looks like a racially motivated murder of a 21 year-old taxi driver was tragic but the way they got the killers was great, Rachel worrying about drunk ringing her boss was amusing when it turned out to be a good idea about Geoff's case and poor Janet being stalked by Andy after their break up

Sean wanting Rachel to meet his son from his defunct marriage was unexpected ans I'm not surprised it came as a surprise considering it's the first she knew about it and considering he asked her to marry him you would of thought he would of said something before but what she said to his son about spiders and his teacher i found amusing

Leon Foster being found dead with a bullet hole in his head was nothing new but finding out he had been sexually mutilated by having his penis cut off and stuffed down his throat made for a strange case but after hearing what they did he got what he deserved

Rachel did look guilty for the attack on Nick Savage but her sister telling her it was their brother Dom was a surprise and what Andy did to Janet was cruel and childish

Who would of thought that after the concerned neighbour knocks on Janet’s door it would lead the horrors they found and Janet finding her ex is seeing someone was expected but with a surname like that she must of been teased
