Step Dave Premiered on TVNZ on February 11, 2014

Dave, a 24-year-old ordinary kiwi slacker, finds his life turned upside down when he meets the girl of his dreams – Cara - and her three kids.

Step Dave is a light-hearted, feel-good family drama which demonstrates one of the realities of modern life – that families come in all different shapes and sizes.  In this series, home is where the heart is – even if that home is crammed full of kids, teenagers, ex-mother-in-laws and hangers-on.  

Can this unconventional relationship survive the age difference and the pressures of the multi-generational household? Can Dave step up (no pun intended) and be a proper parent?  Should he even try to? Can this unruly bunch live happily ever after as one big happy family?

Cara's blind date was a disaster but if that wasn't bad enough she gets locked in the toilet and breaks her leg climbing out the window but Dave taking her the hospital and waiting the 3.5 hours only to leave without her number but her shoe instead was amusing, I cant believe he almost walked away because of her age when she looks like that

Trust Dave's friend to spoil the school concert but in fairness they didn't know it was Cara's children in the play and the family wanting to meet him was amusing, trust her sister to go to the bar and flirt with the other barman thinking it was Dave

I had a feeling Dave spending the night with Cara would be spoiled by her kids but finding out Scarlett and Jasmine were paying Logan to spoil their night was amusing and Dave trying to stop Jasmine's bully wasn't going to be easy but what Marion did was a surprise

Cara's daughters sending texts from Dave's phone was cruel but amusing and Dave farting in the girls room was a great way to get them out, the bath legs falling through the floor was priceless, Dave and Cara venturing into each other's worlds was interesting as Dave fitted in her world better than she did in his

I'm not surprised Dave incurred the wrath of Marion after keeping quiet about accidentally breaking her clown figurine and Azza having girl trouble was interesting as it looked like sexual harassment but Stacey slapping her was surprising

Cara trying to do a will was interesting as she hand thought about who would look after her children if the worst happened but Cara meeting Dave's mother was amusing as she was an old school friend who left because she was pregnant with Dave

Phillip having a vasectomy after Julia's pregnancy scare was a little drastic and not telling her first was unbelievable but Julia sleeping with the guy she tried to set Cara up with was a surprise, Jen wanting in on the cougar action was amusing and Dave getting in over his head when he promised a super hero after the last one bailed at the last minute was interesting as you just knew he would do it himself

Jasmine running away with the rock band after her presentation was predictable but she should of realised her mother would come after her but sitting on her to stop her running away again was amusing, Marion trying to blame Dave for the special plants was cruel and Lucy passing away was sad

Dave trying win over princess Scarlett was going to be tough as she hates his guts but making it even worse was unbelievable and Cara discovering that Stacey the Stalker is her brand new best friend after that massage was surprising as she is Dave's ex but her new guy being old enough to be her grandfather was priceless

Cara's ex-husband making himself at home was bound to be awkward with Dave also living their but getting naked in the bathroom was amusing and Scarlett telling her mother about Julia having an affair was bound to happen sooner or later especially as she had been giving her a mouthful every time she seen her

Cara's ex-husband kissing her was going to happen with him still hanging around I'm just glad she pushed him away and Dave chickening out of starting his new grown-up job was surprising but Julia's husband finding out about her affair was predictable, Liam's ex turning up in the late stage of pregnancy was a shock

Julia's world crumbling when her ex took the girl away for five weeks was understandable but Dave being over the moon when he took his mother as well was amusing and trying to make to most of an empty house was amusing as Julia caught them naked in the day but the break up was a surprise

Dave and Azza leaving for their trip on Cara's birthday was bad timing but the fact he changed her mind at the same time Cara changed her mind about going with him was amusing but what a stroke of luck her passport was out of date as she would of been on the plane by the time they got the airport
