The Comeback Premiered on HBO on June 05, 2005

Friends star Lisa Kudrow makes a monumental comeback in this hilarious assault on the American television industry. The show, following the attempted return to the limelight of faded former sitcom star Valerie Cherish, is the creation of Kudrow herself along with one of Hollywood’s top comedic talents, Sex and the City executive producer Michael Patrick King.

In her effort to revive her flagging career, forty-something Valerie agrees to be the focus of a reality television show called The Comeback which follows her every move as she tries to land a role in a hot new sitcom about “four sexy singles living in a condo” called Room and Bored. This show-within-a-show-within-a-show is a caustic and timely look at the fame game and the lengths a single-minded star will go to retain her place in the public’s gaze. There are hilarious scenarios, surreal plot twists and humiliations aplenty!

In the first episode, the resilient Valerie battles to be cast in Room and Bored, which is set to co-star four scantily-clad, beautiful young things: Juno (Malin Akerman), Shayne (Kimberly Kevon Williams), Jesse (Jason Olive) and Chris (Kellan Lutz). Thrilled when she’s finally offered a part, Valerie soon discovers it’s not what she expected when she finds herself recast as the somewhat pathetic Aunt Sassy, a pastel-tracksuit wearing frump who lives upstairs. Added to this is the fact that the prying reality show cameras are there to capture every moment of her rather tragic fall from grace.

Now that's what I call a comeback after almost ten years

Valerie auditioning for a pilot of a reality show while being filmed in her own reality show was different but having a car accident because the crew distracted her was surprising and Juna forgetting about the cameras while changing was a shock

Juna stealing the lime light on the plane was amusing as Valerie was in coach while the others were in business class and as the film crew weren't allowed up front you cant blame them for filming Juna but the wet t shirt was priceless

Valerie trying to offers Juna advice on dealing with fame was amusing as it looked like she was jealous of her getting all the attention

Valerie objecting to one of Aunt Sassy's lines was understandable as comparing puppies to a barque I didn't think was funny

Valerie going shopping with the film crew in toe was understandable but what an unfortunate magazine title on the stand and working with Charlotte was great

The girls shopping bag full of condoms, a tube of Vaseline and a vibrator was amusing but catching the writers goofing around was priceless as she had no idea they were mocking her

Juna wanting everyone to go to the club to celebrate the launch of her CD was nice but Mark misbehaving at the nightclub was surprising and the jokes over Valerie's fir coat was amusing

What a shame that Valerie and Mark setting out for some much-needed R&R in Palm Springs had to be spoiled by the camera crew but taking sleeping pills because of the noise was amusing as her noisy neighbours beat her to the pool chairs

The producers having to revamp “Room and Bored” after the network insisted was unfortunate as the cast had been split up along with the addition of two new cast members but getting Valerie to organise a boycott was cruel as they all turned up to work without telling her

The guys reaction to Juna's magazine cover was predictable and that poster of Valerie was sexy but landing the cover of Be Yoga magazine was not a good idea as she hadn't done it for years

Valerie offering one of the writers a ticket to the TV awards show was nice but that red dress was revealing and I should of guest she had it on backwards

The set uping security because of a stalkers death threat to Juna was understandable as it was left in her dressing room and Valerie punching the director was amusing

Valerie having a rant about Paulie G was amusing as she said she's not a therapist which ironically is what she's doing now and being a guest on the Tonight Show after that pilot was amusing as it was the punch that made the show

Paulie G. having his own series planned at the same time Valerie created her own pilot for a reality show was bad time as he's her arch-enemy but with her thinking his show looked like it's about her was the icing on the cake  

PS Getting so many of the cast back after nine years was impressive
