The Mill Premiered on Channel 4 on July 28, 2013

The Mill is a historical drama series created by John Fay. The series is set in rural-industrial 19th-century England ands is based on the historical archive of Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire. It depicts the country at a time when the industrial revolution ibegan to change the country beyond recognition forever.

Tomas waving his arms about like that was asking for trouble but loosing his hand was a hell of a price to pay and Charlie taking advantage of the young girls was sickening but saying he was checking for stolen goods was plausible and sabotaging the bell was priceless as that was their call to start work

Comes back with two sisters called Lucy and Catherine as replacement apprentice's was unfortunate for Catherine as she was too young but allowing Catherine to go free was a strange decision as she was too young to look after herself, Esther trying find her baptism certificate to prove her age was going to be hard

Esther and Lucy stealing the horse and cart was priceless but Timperley was like a dog after a bone with his persistence being relentless and a shame his wife died while he was away

What a shame the master died before he reprimanded Mr Timperley for what he did to Esther but the girls chasing him was amusing as he looked petrified, Esther's sister Martha discovers one of the notes Esther left there and travelling to see her was a nice surprise

It's so nice that they finally posted S 1 episode 4 before season 2 premiered. Hopefully 'The Fall' we'll have the same luck.

Esther being annoyed about the boy working was understandable as it was obvious from his hight he wasn't old enough but flirting with the shoe maker was amusing

The new guy wanting to make the mill work faster was bound to have a knock on effect with the quality of work but almost killing his son was a close call and you had to fell sorry for the younger girls after Esther left the apprentice house because Patience made their lives a misery, Esther having to clean her own vomit was karma for having to much to drink

Esther getting revenge on Patience after what she did to the other girls was great but you knew she would take it out on the girls again and holding a secret ballot in an attempt to convince William to close the factory was risky, the naked race was an amusing distraction

Daniel trying to urge his fellow workers not to resort to physical force was ironic as he hit his wife and Esther giving birth to a healthy baby boy following a difficult labour was lucky but docking her wages was amusing and going straight back to work afterwards was crazy

Esther's tooth extraction was a little drastic and I'm not surprised her views on the strike were change after the cuts put her son Billy's life in danger but Peter sabotaging the machine after Daniel's attack was great

The striking workers creating a picket line outside the mill gates was predictable but I doubt they expected it to last that long and looks like Peter will never know the truth about his family, Esther being selected to attend the union meeting in Daniel's place was tragic as Billy died while she was away

Tony Robinson exploring the true story of the factory workers behind the series was interesting

Esther Price being based on a real worker was interesting as from the record she was a little trouble maker and the records about her real age was fascinating

Finally got around to watching this. My God!!! Channel 4 was crazy to have cancelled this - what a show. This is what you call entertaining drama and not the usual crap we have forced down our throats in the US. Both seasons were great, but, S1 surpassed S2 by far.

I loved the entire cast (with the exception of Howlett), but Esther & Daniel were my favorite.
