Episode 1: Devil
Although they are still mourning the death of their son, Tommy and Janet are moving forward with their separation. Tommy is also still trying to maintain his sobriety while now bogged down with new responsibilities, which include caring for his father Sean Garrity has struck up a secret relationship with Tommy's sister Maggie and unfortunately for him, he's really starting to fall for her. Sheila finds condoms in her son Damian's room, and asks Tommy to have a conversation with him about it. In confronting Damian, Tommy learns that the teenager is carrying on an affair with one of his teachers, Mrs. Turbody And when the city's no-smoking ban threatens the firehouse, the crew tries to make things interesting by starting a big wager on whether they can quit smoking.
Episode 2: Discovery
In an effort to revive Tommy's love life the crew plans a night out to the hot-spot Lotus. At the club, Franco gets hit on by an older woman named Alicia While he's put-off by their difference in age, he's intrigued by her confidence. Financial problems are affecting a few guys in the house. Lou is trying to keeps his financial problems under wraps, but with the Chief asking him to borrow money, its growing increasing difficult for Lou to hide the fact that he was schemed out of thousands of dollars by a Hooker. The Chief is trying to cover the costs on the nursing home his wife is in. Meanwhile, Frano is considering taking the lieutenants exam, and The Probie is considering a transfer to another house somewhere he wont be hassled as the most junior member of the house.
Episode 3: Torture
The entire firehouse seems to be on edge. Lou continues to fall in a downward spiral as he avoids his home life and becomes more and more irritable, turning to alcohol to solve his problems. The Chief is still struggling to pay for his wife's nursing home, and tensions are high between Tommy and Sean who continues to try and hide his relationship with Tommy's sister Franco has been sleeping with Alicia and realizes he is sitting on a gold mine when she spoils him and his daughter with generous gifts. "The Probie" seriously considers applying for a transfer, and fills out all the necessary paperwork; the issue is finding the courage to turn it in. When Tommy forgets to pick his children up from school, his estranged wife Janet (Andrea Roth), confronts him at the house and it is finally clear that their marriage is over.
Episode 4: Sparks
After tending to an overturned bus and saving the lives of multiple children, the Reverend Al Sharpton publicly denounces the FDNY for ignoring the needs of the black community by choosing to rescue the bus on the way to help a black man with chest pains. The station, and the entire community are responding in interesting ways. Sean confronts Tommy about his relationship with Maggie and Tommy warns him that his sister is trouble. Franco (Daniel Sunjata) continues his relationship with Alicia and Tommy and Sheila's relationship takes an interesting turn, especially when Tommy informs her that he will be making a deposit the next day, and not at a bank. Chief Reilly takes the job at the bar, and finds it difficult and tiring. The guys at the house take advantage of his vulnerability by playing practical jokes on him.
Episode 5: Chlamydia
Tommy and Janet's divorce begins to seem real as the guys help clear the apartment of Janet's things and Tommy has to face Janet's new relationship face-to-face. On the other hand, Johnny's ex-wife reappears and makes an interesting deal with Tommy that will prove to shake things up among the Gavin family. While babysitting Franco's daughter, Alicia reveals something shocking about her past and knowing the truth about Kayla drives her to take drastic measures, infuriating Franco beyond reason. Sean finally confronts Maggie about her relationship status and Maggie tells him the truth about her wandering eyes. Chief Reilly gets the lights turned out on him and loses his chance at a large amount of money to help support his ailing wife.
Episode 6: Zombies
During an interdepartmental street hockey game, Tommy starts to becomes suspicious that another company might be looking to poach "The Probie" from Ladder62. The potential issue weighs on Tommy because he realizes that while "The Probie" takes tons of abuse, he is still part of their family. Johnny's intense effort to go above and beyond for Janet and the girls leaves Janet ill at ease. Perhaps its because Tommy never took the same amount of time to dote on her, or maybe because she's not completely over him. The situation is complicated when Janet decides to pay a surprise visit to her Ex. After an innocent mix up between ibuprofen and sleeping pills, Sean ends up sleepwalking and causing a brutally honest ruckus around the city. On the job, Lou makes a wrong turn that puts him and Franco in danger.
Episode 7: Satisfaction
While Tommy and Johnny have another encounter, Janet and Angie re-establish their acquaintance. Meanwhile, Sheila is unhappy when she sees Tommy and Angie together. Maggie wants to get back together with Sean. Mike hooks up with a woman at a bar, making his roommate, Chris, jealous. Franco finds out about Jerry's second job at the pub, and the money in the no-smoking jar goes missing.
Episode 8: Karate
During a hockey game, Tommy takes all he can stand from a wisecracking NYPD foe until he can finally stand no more. Later, they meet again in the locker room. Meanwhile, Lou has an epiphany upon learning of Candy's arrest on drug charges; Franco meets someone who might be more than a one-night stand; and Sean and Maggie, Jerry and Rose, Teddy and Ellie, and Mike and Chris all arrive at crossroads in their relationships, as do Tommy and Angie
Episode 9: Pieces
Johnny has something to tell Tommy, who's distracted by fears for his future after visiting his seriously burned buddy Stack in the hospital. Tommy's also worried about the future of Ladder 62 in light of developments concerning Lou, Mike and Franco. Meanwhile, Sheila has a proposition for Tommy; Franco fears that his new girlfriend, Natalie (Sherri Saum), is keeping something from him; and Sean has a request of John Gavin Senior.
Episode 10: Retards
Following a meeting with Janet, Tommy has yet another confrontation with Johnny, Teddy's conjugal visits with Ellie prove to be a letdown, and Franco tries to befriend his new girlfriend's mentally challenged brother. Elsewhere, Tommy keeps his vigil at a firefighter Stack's bedside where he is badly injured.
Episode 11: Twilight
John Sr. ends up disappearing after arguing with Tommy about their living conditions. Tommy is none too thrilled with Lou's latest love interest, while Jerry's new woman might prove to be dangerous for him. Also, Sean and Maggie meet with the priest to discuss their upcoming wedding. Jerry does not turn up for work.
Episode 12: Hell
Tommy and Janet are brought together once again by another Gavin family tragedy. Meanwhile, the crew becomes concerned when Jerry fails to show up and they all start t worry, Mike decides it is time to look for some advice about his sexuality from some friends ad others, Meanwhile, Maggie has a big surprise for Sean.
Episode 13: Beached
Tommy promises to help Janet with the baby she's expecting, but hides the fact that he's preparing to start a new life with Sheila Franco pays his daughter Keela a visit, and gets a picture of how Alicia's raising her. Several crew members are going forward with their plans to say goodbye to the firehouse, Sheila and Tommy are at the beach house and Tommy decides he does not want to be there, the house goes up in flames and Tommy is left in the burning house.
