The Plot:
The show focuses on Tommy Gavin, the senior firefighter whose life is in turmoil as he copes with the stresses and fears of his job as well the separation from his wife Janet. Tommy moves into a house across the street from her to stay close to their three children and keep an eye on her. The stresses and fears of his job are manifested through conversations with his dead cousin Jimmy Keefe, a fellow firefighter, as well as the haunting memories of people he has watched die on the job, during the 9/11 attacks of the Twin Towers.

The remaining heroes of Ladder 62 include Chief Jerry Reilly who, despite being called "The Good Chief," has a serious gambling problem and bets on everything, even Tommy's divorce. Sean Garrity is a young, handsome guy who is easier to look at than hold a conversation with. Franco Rivera, a cocky ladies man, is Tommy's confidant who lives life in the fast lane. Lt. Kenny "Lou" Shea is a man's man who secretly writes poetry and uses it as a way to release his emotional frustrations. Mike Silletti, "the probie," is subject to numerous initiation pranks as he begins his career as a firefighter.

Episode 1: Guts
Tommy Gavin is a firefighter and father who's struggling to cope with the daily turmoil of his life. After his wife Janet leaves him, Tommy moves into a house across the street from her to stay close to their three children. However, the proximity of their relationship is difficult. Tommy isn't dealing very well with his estranged wife dating other men and using his kids as spies, paying them to divulge information about Janet's activities. Lifewise, the stress of his job is starting to get to him. Tommy is haunted by the memories of September 11 and even hallucinates the ghosts of the family and friends he lost. His subconscious manifests itself in the images of these former firefighters, predominately his cousin Jimmy  who he often confides in. Tommy works hard to conceal his feelings from his firehouse buddies, even though many of them are still suffering as well.

Episode 2: Gay
Tommy Gavin finally meets his ex-wife's new boyfriend, Roger and enlists his brother and nephew to help sabotage Roger's financial and computer records. After confronting his ex-wife Janet about her plans to move the kids to California, Tommy grows increasingly frustrated and his drinking gets worse. When Bobby Teff a firefighter from another house comes out in a newspaper article and reveals that there is a secret society of homosexual firefighters, Chief Reilly is livid. Reilly takes it upon himself to confront Teff and teach him a lesson in propriety. Tommy peeks into a window, only to find Sheila his cousin's widow, receiving a shoulder rub from another woman. Tommy's imagination runs wild as he suspects Sheila is now a lesbian.

Episode 3: Kansas
Chief Reilly is facing severe repercussions after beating up a gay firefighter. In a desperate attempt to find a witness who will testify on his behalf, Chief Reilly seeks out a bartender who was present during the altercation at the gay bar. Tommy is growing increasingly jealous of his ex-wife's new relationship. Additionally, he doesn't exactly receive the sympathy he is expecting when he vents to Sheila about his depression in dealing with the break-up of his marriage. Of course Sheila is unsympathetic since she lost her husband Jimmy on 9/11. Lou inquires with a post-traumatic stress group about possibly sharing his poetry.

Episode 4: DNA
Franco's former girlfriend Nez tells him that he is the father of her five-year old daughter, but only after she sleeps with Sean. Franco decides to take a paternity test to determine if Nez is lying. Chief Reilly is upset about being suspended without pay for the barroom incident he has been implicated in, and wants to fight the decision. Although Mike the Probie is growing increasingly uncomfortable with the frequent visits from Andrew, a guy whose life he saved in a fire, he agrees to have a drink with him. Tommy takes Sheila out for dinner, and she plants a goodnight kiss on him at the end of the evening that leaves him feeling guilty. After being told that she doesn't have permission to go, Colleen is in a car accident while on her way to a concert in the city.

Episode 5: Orphans
Tommy Gavin hopes that things start to return to normal now that his daughter Colleen has been discharged from the hospital. Unfortunately, still upset over their encounter in the emergency room, Roger makes matter worse when he accuses Tommy of being involved in the recent sabotage to his computer files and credit. Sean gets in over his head when Nez overdoses while the two are out at a bar. When Franco finds out what happened, he seems to be more concerned with Sean's disloyalty than the fact that he might have to care for a daughter he really doesn't know. Chief Jerry Reilly's suspension trial finally gets underway. The Chief is forced to contact his son, Peter who may be his only chance to salvage his job. Three men, who are looking for revenge on Roger's behalf, confront Tommy.

Episode 6: Revenge
On a call, the guys convince Sean to ask out a girl who, unbeknownst to Garrity, is a transvestite. Meanwhile, Franco is feeling guilty about abandoning his daughter, and tries to find out where she was placed. As retribution for his attack, Tommy uses his City connections to have Roger arrested. Janet confronts Tommy and asks about the allegations Tommy is making against Roger. Tommy seems to have the upper hand, as he decides whether to press charges against Roger. Janet feels bad about the beating Tommy took from Roger's friends, until Tommy's bootie call unexpectedly shows up at his house and runs into Janet where introductions are not pleasant. Lou finally shares his poetry with people outside the firehouse and his home but their reactions aren't quite what he expected.

Episode 7: Butterfly
Tommy goes to see a doctor who prescribes him medication for his depression and insomnia, with the caveat that he shouldn't drink while on the meds. Dr. Shinsky, Tommy's neighbor and another psychiatrist, tells him that he should take the pills with caution and try to talk to someone before resorting to the medication. Unfortunately for Dr. Shinsky, Tommy decides that he's going to unload his problems on the good doctor. Tommy then enlists the guys to help him build a deck for Dr. Shinsky, with the Probie doing most of the work. Franco and Sean prepare for their photo shoot for the annual Firemens calendar. And the Probie is confronted by the amorous couple who wanted to have sex with him and is caught in an uncomfortable situation.

Episode 8:  Inches
On a lark, the guys in the house decide to have a contest to determine whose manhood is the longest. Unfortunately, Franco and a girlfriend run into a little trouble as they take his measurements. Tommy's Dad calls looking for something to calm the monkey down. Turns out Uncle Teddy won a monkey over a baseball bet, and now the two grown men don't know what to do with the crazy primate. Janet (Andrea Roth) tells Tommy that Colleen has been suspended from school for making out in the hallway with her girlfriend. Tommy is comforted by the fact that at least Colleen isn't with the Murphy kid anymore. Tommy accompanies Sheila to a party and tries to convince everyone that they're not dating.

Episode 9: Alarm
Tommy finds a pregnancy test in the trash at his wife's house, and instantly assumes that the test is his daughter Colleen's Janet is forced to break the news that the test is actually hers. Tommy's Dad calls to tell his son that he is back at home with his wife, and although he is getting the silent treatment he couldn't be happier. Unfortunately, things are not so bright for Chief Reilly who finds himself in a spot when he's overextended with his bookie. Faced with the possibility of bodily injury, he pockets some jewelry while out on a fire call. Lou also finds himself in a tight spot when his buddy's widow makes a pass at him. The Probie's home life becomes a mess when his girlfriend's teenage daughter Nicole comes to stay, The guys learn that they're getting a female firefighter in the house, and decide to ice her out and alienate her so much that she wants to leave the house.

Episode 10: Immortal
When Tommy struggles to help Janet in a financial crunch, he must turn to his Uncle Teddy to help him out. The new female addition to the house fights to be accepted by the guys while they do everything they can to drive her nuts. Just as Mike is getting fed up from sleeping on the firehouse couch, he is offered a helping hand with a free place to stay... at a steep price.

Episode 11: Mom
Pressured by his Mom into dating a friend's daughter, Mike is disappointed -- but not surprised -- to find that she's overweight. But after forcing him to admit to his ambivalence about their date, Theresa proceeds to give Mike the best sex he's ever had. After insisting that Jerry keep her new bathroom private, Laura watches Tommy defy orders to rescue a dog and wonders how long it will be before his recklessness gets him or someone else killed. Meanwhile, as Sean over how the new firefighters calender makes him seem gay, Lou tells his wife, Phyllis about his affair with Sondra only to learn she is seeing another fireman.

Episode 12: Leaving
When Janet needs more money to cover house repairs, Tommy turns to Uncle Teddy and his "little" friend to help him out with extra cash. When Franco's father has a stroke, Franco finds himself trying to juggle work and raising his daughter on his own. Meanwhile, a goodwill tribute to the firefighters lost in 9/11 goes awry and the firehouse is put in jeopardy.

Episode 13: Sanctuary
To make the next hockey game with the NYPD a wild affair, Tommy mends fences with his ex-co-captain, Ryan, who offers to enlist a fireman who is on leave for beating up three cops. As Lou's affair with Sondra heats up, and Mike comes to grips with Theresa's eating disorder, Franco counsels Sean on how to dump Carol a woman he says is a bad kisser. And after another day at the track with Uncle Teddy and Arlo leaves him with plenty of cash for Janet and Sheila Tommy is startled when Laura questions his motives and his sanity. Then, after she's the only one who can stop an angry man from attacking the firefighters removing his morbidly obese mother's corpse from her apartment, Laura gains some credibility with the crew.

Episode 1: Voice mail
In the opener to the second season, troubled Tommy Gavin is having a difficult time adjusting to life at his new uneventful firehouse after the volatile split with his old crew. On top of this he is still looking for his missing wife who has kidnapped his three children and he has to come to terms with the fact that his dead cousin’s wife is pregnant with his baby. His frustrations come to a head and he has a meltdown with a street vendor selling 9/11 memorabilia.

Episode 2: Harmony
When Tommy discovers where Janet has taken the kids, the only way he can get time off to find them is by joining his new firehouse's competitive Barbershop Quartet. Lou and Chief Reilly conspire to get Tommy back into the old firehouse, but the rest of the crew is getting attached to Tommy's replacement, Sully who's a gourmet cook with great people skills. Mike (Michael Lombardi) has trouble controlling his emotions when his girlfriend Theresa breaks up with him.

Episode 3: Balls
Chief Reilly and Lou have trouble convincing the crew to take Tommy back into the firehouse, until a huge warehouse fire reveals a secret about Tommy's replacement, Sully Tommy's Dad returns from his trip around the world with a new wife and a brand new lifestyle. Franco and Laura take their friendship to a new level while Mike finds himself stalking his ex-girlfriend. Sheila cant bring herself to be honest with Tommy about the baby.

Episode 4: Twat
Tommy looks to his cousin Mickey now an ex-priest, for help in understanding the bizarre visions he's been having since he quit drinking. When Lou allows a disagreement with Laura (Diane Farr) to escalate, the crew tries to help Laura understand the essence of male camaraderie. Tommy is put in harm's way during a fire when a miscommunication happens between Chief Reilly and Mike The Probie Tommy's Dad is shocked when Teddy turns up in the last place he would ever expect.

Episode 5: Sensitivity
When a priest delivers some startling news, Tommy wonders if his Dad has been living a double life. Chief Jerry discovers just how far his wife's mind has slipped, and he is forced to ask for help from his estranged, gay son. When Laura files a complaint against Lou the whole crew is ordered to undergo sensitivity training. Now that Colleen is home, Tommy comes up with a plan to get the rest of his kids back; meanwhile, Tommy starts to suspect that Sheila is hiding something from him.

Episode 6: Reunion
Lou regrets participating in the FDNY bone marrow donation program when he meets the miserable person whose life he saved. Sean becomes suspicious of his new girlfriend when he discovers her habit of dating firemen. Franco's worsening painkiller addiction puts his daughter at risk. Tommy tries to learn the truth about Sheila's pregnancy, while executing a new plan to take his kids back. Lou does not like the person he has saved through a bone marrow donation, Sean's new girlfriend habitually dates firemen.

Episode 7: Shame
Tommy finds himself keeping vigil at the bedside of a young boy who was critically wounded in a fire. Chief Reilly learns a little more than he can handle about his gay son's relationship. Lou comes up with a plan to attract the attention of an old girlfriend, Franco's addiction to painkillers has driven him to a support group to get help with his problem.

Episode 8: Believe
Chief Reilly doesn't know what he's in for when he invites the crew to attend a birthday party for his son's boyfriend. Just as Franco and Laura's relationship is becoming serious, Laura learns a devastating secret. Tommy finds himself being tempted by a woman who's off-limits because she might be his half sister but he goes for it anyway, while suddenly being forced to make a decision about his family's future.  Sheila tries to make Tommy jealous by showing off her new girlfriend.

Episode 9: Rebirth
Tommy finds a less-than-perfect way to rekindle his relationship with Janet , Tommy starts taking Janet's antidepressants. Franco asks for the crew's help in winning Laura back. Tommy's ideas about faith are challenged when an accident on the job nearly kills him.
When Sean meddles in Franco and Laura's troubled relationship he makes things worse. After a gay visitor, the crew wonders about Mike's sexuality.

Episode 10: Brains
Tommy, Johnny and Mickey investigation into Father Murphey's private life, When Tommy, Johnny, and Mickey confront Father Murphy it results in tragedy. Laura starts to believe that one of her crew members is secretly harboring romantic feelings for her. Tommy unwittingly becomes involved in a domestic dispute between Sheila and her new girlfriend after Shelia asked for his help, Jerry decides it's time to get a nurse to care for Jeanie. Lou offers to help Candy out with her situation. And Laura discovers the truth behind Franco's poetry.

Episode 11: Bitch
Sheila begs Tommy to talk to her teenage son out of his decision to become a fireman. Franco's attempt to make Laura jealous backfires when his hot blind date turns out to have a big physical flaw. Tommy lays off the antidepressants when he is kicked off the hockey team. Tommy goes out of the way to prove to his hockey teammates that he hasn't gone soft. Tommy's dad gets a surprise when he returns home from a three day trip to Atlantic City.

Episode 12: Happy
Mike tells Sean about a health issue he's been coping with, and Chief Reilly braces for the worst period of his wife's illness. Tommy's estranged sister returns to the fold as the Gavins prepare to read off Mrs. Ng's will where Tommy's dad could inherit millions of dollars Meanwhile, as Tommy and Janet continue with plans to reunite, they are suddenly faced with the tragic death of their son.

Episode 13: Justice
Family tragedy puts a strain on Tommy and Janet's recently mended relationship, Tommy's need for retaliation against his son's killer begins to deepen In other events, Tommy finds out who's been spying on him at his AA meetings,  Sean questions his belief in Heaven after Connor's death, Lou learns troubling news about Candy, and Jerry considers putting his wife in a health-care facility for Alzheimer's patients.  the station house finds itself shaken by some additional news.

Episode 1: Devil
Although they are still mourning the death of their son, Tommy and Janet are moving forward with their separation. Tommy is also still trying to maintain his sobriety while now bogged down with new responsibilities, which include caring for his father Sean Garrity has struck up a secret relationship with Tommy's sister Maggie and unfortunately for him, he's really starting to fall for her. Sheila finds condoms in her son Damian's room, and asks Tommy to have a conversation with him about it. In confronting Damian, Tommy learns that the teenager is carrying on an affair with one of his teachers, Mrs. Turbody And when the city's no-smoking ban threatens the firehouse, the crew tries to make things interesting by starting a big wager on whether they can quit smoking.

Episode 2: Discovery
In an effort to revive Tommy's love life the crew plans a night out to the hot-spot Lotus. At the club, Franco gets hit on by an older woman named Alicia While he's put-off by their difference in age, he's intrigued by her confidence. Financial problems are affecting a few guys in the house. Lou is trying to keeps his financial problems under wraps, but with the Chief asking him to borrow money, its growing increasing difficult for Lou to hide the fact that he was schemed out of thousands of dollars by a Hooker. The Chief is trying to cover the costs on the nursing home his wife is in. Meanwhile, Frano is considering taking the lieutenants exam, and The Probie is considering a transfer to another house somewhere he wont be hassled as the most junior member of the house.

Episode 3: Torture
The entire firehouse seems to be on edge. Lou continues to fall in a downward spiral as he avoids his home life and becomes more and more irritable, turning to alcohol to solve his problems. The Chief is still struggling to pay for his wife's nursing home, and tensions are high between Tommy and Sean who continues to try and hide his relationship with Tommy's sister Franco has been sleeping with Alicia and realizes he is sitting on a gold mine when she spoils him and his daughter with generous gifts. "The Probie" seriously considers applying for a transfer, and fills out all the necessary paperwork; the issue is finding the courage to turn it in. When Tommy forgets to pick his children up from school, his estranged wife Janet (Andrea Roth), confronts him at the house and it is finally clear that their marriage is over.

Episode 4: Sparks
After tending to an overturned bus and saving the lives of multiple children, the Reverend Al Sharpton publicly denounces the FDNY for ignoring the needs of the black community by choosing to rescue the bus on the way to help a black man with chest pains. The station, and the entire community are responding in interesting ways. Sean confronts Tommy about his relationship with Maggie and Tommy warns him that his sister is trouble. Franco (Daniel Sunjata) continues his relationship with Alicia and Tommy and Sheila's relationship takes an interesting turn, especially when Tommy informs her that he will be making a deposit the next day, and not at a bank. Chief Reilly takes the job at the bar, and finds it difficult and tiring. The guys at the house take advantage of his vulnerability by playing practical jokes on him.

Episode 5: Chlamydia
Tommy and Janet's divorce begins to seem real as the guys help clear the apartment of Janet's things and Tommy has to face Janet's new relationship face-to-face. On the other hand, Johnny's ex-wife reappears and makes an interesting deal with Tommy that will prove to shake things up among the Gavin family. While babysitting Franco's daughter, Alicia reveals something shocking about her past and knowing the truth about Kayla drives her to take drastic measures, infuriating Franco beyond reason. Sean finally confronts Maggie about her relationship status and Maggie tells him the truth about her wandering eyes. Chief Reilly gets the lights turned out on him and loses his chance at a large amount of money to help support his ailing wife.

Episode 6: Zombies
During an interdepartmental street hockey game, Tommy starts to becomes suspicious that another company might be looking to poach "The Probie" from Ladder62. The potential issue weighs on Tommy because he realizes that while "The Probie" takes tons of abuse, he is still part of their family. Johnny's intense effort to go above and beyond for Janet and the girls leaves Janet ill at ease. Perhaps its because Tommy never took the same amount of time to dote on her, or maybe because she's not completely over him. The situation is complicated when Janet decides to pay a surprise visit to her Ex. After an innocent mix up between ibuprofen and sleeping pills, Sean ends up sleepwalking and causing a brutally honest ruckus around the city. On the job, Lou makes a wrong turn that puts him and Franco in danger.

Episode 7: Satisfaction
While Tommy and Johnny have another encounter, Janet and Angie re-establish their acquaintance. Meanwhile, Sheila is unhappy when she sees Tommy and Angie together. Maggie wants to get back together with Sean. Mike hooks up with a woman at a bar, making his roommate, Chris, jealous. Franco finds out about Jerry's second job at the pub, and the money in the no-smoking jar goes missing.

Episode 8: Karate
During a hockey game, Tommy takes all he can stand from a wisecracking NYPD foe until he can finally stand no more. Later, they meet again in the locker room. Meanwhile, Lou has an epiphany upon learning of Candy's arrest on drug charges; Franco meets someone who might be more than a one-night stand; and Sean and Maggie, Jerry and Rose, Teddy and Ellie, and Mike and Chris all arrive at crossroads in their relationships, as do Tommy and Angie

Episode 9: Pieces
Johnny has something to tell Tommy, who's distracted by fears for his future after visiting his seriously burned buddy Stack in the hospital. Tommy's also worried about the future of Ladder 62 in light of developments concerning Lou, Mike and Franco. Meanwhile, Sheila has a proposition for Tommy; Franco fears that his new girlfriend, Natalie (Sherri Saum), is keeping something from him; and Sean has a request of John Gavin Senior.

Episode 10: Retards
Following a meeting with Janet, Tommy has yet another confrontation with Johnny, Teddy's conjugal visits with Ellie prove to be a letdown,  and Franco tries to befriend his new girlfriend's mentally challenged brother. Elsewhere, Tommy keeps his vigil at a firefighter Stack's bedside where he is badly injured.

Episode 11: Twilight
John Sr. ends up disappearing after arguing with Tommy about their living conditions. Tommy is none too thrilled with Lou's latest love interest, while Jerry's new woman might prove to be dangerous for him. Also, Sean and Maggie meet with the priest to discuss their upcoming wedding. Jerry does not turn up for work.

Episode 12: Hell
Tommy and Janet are brought together once again by another Gavin family tragedy. Meanwhile, the crew becomes concerned when Jerry fails to show up and they all start t worry, Mike decides it is time to look for some advice about his sexuality from some friends ad others, Meanwhile, Maggie has a big surprise for Sean.

Episode 13: Beached
Tommy promises to help Janet with the baby she's expecting, but hides the fact that he's preparing to start a new life with Sheila Franco pays his daughter Keela a visit, and gets a picture of how Alicia's raising her. Several crew members are going forward with their plans to say goodbye to the firehouse, Sheila and Tommy are at the beach house and Tommy decides he does not want to be there, the house goes up in flames and Tommy is left in the burning house.

Episode 1: Baby face
Janet has given birth to a baby boy---whom she fears prefers Tommy to her. But Tommy has a bigger problem: He's suspected of starting the beach-house fire. Meanwhile, Jerry's son asks him to be his best man at his commitment ceremony; Richie wants Franco to marry Natalie; Lou and Theresa get distracted in church; and the volunteer firefighter (Jennifer Esposito) who rescued Tommy from the beach house takes an interest in him---and isn't shy about letting him know.

Episode 2: Tuesday
Sheila lies to Tommy when he confronts her about the beach-house fire. But they present a united front to the insurance investigators, as embarrassing as it is for Tommy. Meanwhile, Lou is determined to get a basketball ringer (Larenz Tate) to be 62 Truck's new probie; Uncle Teddy is released from jail; Colleen runs away with her rock-musician boyfriend; and Mike's mother has a deathbed request.

Episode 3: Commitment
Tommy encounters Colleen's boyfriend and sparks fly; Jerry learns he flunked his physical and is given a desk job; Uncle Teddy, hiding from Ellie, breaks into prison guard Lenny's apartment; Sheila goes out with the man who pulled her from the beach house, while Tommy keeps avoiding Nona (Jennifer Esposito), the volunteer firefighter who rescued him from the blaze; and Mike seeks Tommy's advice on how to deal with his dying mother's request that he kill her.

Episode 4: Pussified
Emotions flare up when the crew learns about Jerry's death; Tommy's manhood is called into question after some embarrassing romantic encounters; Sean confronts Maggie about her drinking; Franco considers asking Natalie to marry him; and Lou looks for a way to get that ringer Bart for the house basketball team.

Episode 5: Black
The firehouse gets a new chief (Jerry Adler), who is rumored to possess a very special gift; Tommy suffers embarrassment during a hockey game against the NYPD; Franco works up the nerve to propose to Natalie while Sean tries to talk Maggie out of a divorce; and Sheila makes a surprising proposition as Janet's depression deepens.

Episode 6: Balance
Janet sinks deeper into her postpartum depression; Sean learns a secret that Mike has been trying to hide; the new probie holds the guys to their agreement about not doing “probie” work; Lou and (especially) Theresa struggle with their decision to “take a break” from sex.

Episode 7: Seven
A devastating fire has a profound effect on the crew; Tommy wrestles with his feelings about the baby; Alicia returns with a proposition for Franco; Troy breaks up with Sheila while Lou makes a tough decision about Theresa; and Sean apologizes to Mike about the fire he set that burned down Mike's mother's house.

Episode 8: Solo
Janet plots revenge when she learns what Tommy did with the baby; Franco questions his marriage proposal to Natalie in light of Alicia and Keela's return; and Tommy faces his ghosts. He also agrees to date Chief Feinberg's needy and awkward daughter.

Episode 9: Animal
The Gavin clan stages an intervention after several disturbing family calls; the mysterious woman from the restaurant leaves Tommy wanting more; Janet must take matters into her own hands to get her baby back; and a depressed Mike calls Tommy in a moment of despair.

Episode 10: High
The Gavins attend their first AA meeting, but Sean isn't welcome since he doesn't drink enough; Tommy turns to Colleen for information about Janet and learns some disturbing things about his childhood from his father; Richie tells Franco what Natalie has been doing since their breakup; Lou mulls revenge on his cousin; and Mike, under orders from Tommy to “stop moping,” visits a singles bar.

Episode 11: Cycle
Tommy goes on a second date with Beth for the sake of the crew. He also sees Valerie again, and makes a trade with Colleen. Meanwhile, Black Shawn proves himself in an unexpected arena; Franco sees what he has lost; and Lou finds something very attractive about Latrina.

Episode 12: Keefe
Tommy plays hero in someone else's uniform, confusing the crew; Colleen finds a new reason to get upset with Tommy; Natalie asks Franco for a favor; a rift between Mike and Black Shawn nearly leads to blows; and the chief is not pleased with the move Tommy makes on his daughter.

Episode 13: Yaz
In the fourth-season finale, the sighting of Jimmy's “ghost” is the talk of the firehouse; Colleen blames Tommy for her failed relationship, and Tommy figures out a way to fix his own. Meanwhile, Franco and Natalie come to an understanding, as do Lou, Mike and Latrina; Tommy and his father take in a ball game. At the ball game, Tommy's father dies.

Episode 1: Baptism
Tommy copes with the loss of his father and a new man in Janet's life. Sheila finds a different way to deal with her issues while Sean, Franco, and Mike concoct a surefire way to get rich and laid.

Episode 2: French
An exotic woman comes by and that sparks mixed emotions in the house. Tommy deals with possible explusion from the FDNY and a new sponsorship role in AA.

Episode 3: Wine
After learning of Colleen's relationship with Black Shawn, Tommy decides that it's time for a talk about the birds and the bees. Tommy also decides to meet with the French reporter who's writing a book about 9/11, and issues raised by her book lead to friction between Franco and Mike. Meanwhile, Mike hits on a new theme for his bar; and Sean seeks out treatment for his bad back.

Episode 4: Jimmy
Lou wants to cooperate with Genevieve because he's interested in her. She's interested in Tommy, who isn't particularly interested in her, but he does watch some 9/11 footage she gives him, and what he sees is very disturbing. Meanwhile, Mike's bar opens; Sean's back still hurts; and Sheila's psycho-dramaturge tells her to "purge" herself of Tommy.

Episode 5: Sheila
Lou sees the same thing on the 9/11 tape as Tommy did---and so does Sheila. Meanwhile, Sheila has a talk with Damien about his plan to join FDNY; Tommy gets to know Janet's boyfriend; Sean gets the results of his medical tests; and Colleen and Black Shawn discuss the parameters of their relationship.

Episode 6: Perspective
Tommy takes Genevieve on a tour of Ground Zero and tells her why the 9/11 footage of Jimmy Keefe was so haunting. And Franco's 9/11 conspiracy theories come under attack. Literally. Meanwhile, Mike's bar proves to be a success; Tommy and Lou have a falling out; and Janet tells Tommy why she sent Katy to an upstate boarding school.

Episode 7: Play
Tommy and Janet drive upstate together for a weekend at Katy's boarding school, and Teddy and Maggie surface in Maryland, where they are volunteers at a VA hospital. Back in New York, Franco gives Lou love tips, and Sean has a new health issue.

Episode 8: Iceman
Tommy is haunted by ghosts of 9/11 and other ghosts, including his dad, his brother Johnny and his cousin Jimmy. Meanwhile, Sean's health continues to deteriorate and black Shawn is still missing; Needles and Lou try to talk Franco into entering a FDNY boxing tournament; Mike befriends Damien; and a nervous young man enters the bar just

Tommy takes heat from both Needles and Dwight, and receives offers from Janet and Sheila; Sean tells his mother about his illness; black Shawn sees Colleen again; and Franco's boxing skills are tested

Job safety requires Tommy and Mike to patch up their differences at work; Sheila uses her leverage to control Tommy's drinking; Lou resists the allure of an old flame.

Mickey learns that Tommy is drinking again; Sheila discovers that Tommy has been sleeping with Janet again; Sean tells Needles about his upcoming cancer surgery; Franco meets a gal in the gym; and Lou has another encounter with Candy.

Episode 12: Disease
The guys visit Sean in the hospital; Katy is home from school and wants a family dinner, one that includes Colleen and Black Shawn; and Lou and Tommy make a wager concerning the women in their lives.

Episode 13: Torch
After dealing with a particularly horrific accident on the job, Tommy questions his feelings in a dream sequence with his dead father, brother and son, and Jimmy Keefe. Meanwhile, Sean has an unwanted visitor at the hospital; and Lou has a very-much-wanted visitor to his apartment.

Episode 14: Wheels
Franco has his first FDNY-tournament fight, and he and Carla have an encounter outside the gym; Candy cooks dinner for Lou; the guys have a surprise for Sean when they visit him in the hospital, and he has one for them. The guys also plan an outing for the kids in the cancer ward.

Episode 15: Initiation
As Damien joins 62 Truck, Sheila reminds Tommy of his promise to watch out for him. Meanwhile, Janet gives Tommy guidelines for their relationship; the guys attend a memorial dedication for a firefighter who died on 9/11; and Sean is released from the hospital, vowing to live life to the fullest.

Episode 16: Clean
Tommy is cleaning the firehouse as punishment for yet another antiauthoritarian outburst when a mysterious woman strolls through. Meanwhile, Tommy's family confronts him about his drinking.

Episode 17: Lesbos
The perfect party becomes a nightmare when a herd of brutish women infiltrate the bar. Tommy's love triangle reaches new heights.

Episode 18: Carrot
A trash-talking woman shows up at the firehouse looking for a date; Janet gives Tommy an ultimatum; Needles and Lou instigate a battle of the sexes; Sean has a new medical problem.

Episode 19: David
When Kelly-- a headstrong recent save-- continues to probe the firehouse for men, Tommy steps in to put a halt on her advances on Damian. Lou approaches Needles to act as a buffer to Tommy for the upcoming nuptials.

Tommy has rocky encounters with Janet and Sheila, and an encounter with Kelly that isn't as rocky. Meanwhile, the guys go grocery shopping with the newly domesticated Lou.
