Lark Rise to Candleford Premiered on BBC One on January 13, 2008

Set in the small hamlet of Lark Rise and the wealthier neighbouring market town, Candleford, at the end of the 19th century, the series chronicles the daily lives of farm-workers, craftsmen and gentry, observing characters in loving, boisterous and competing communities of families, rivals, friends and neighbours.

This world is seen through the eyes of a teenage girl, Laura Timmins, as she leaves Lark Rise to start a new life under the wing of the independent and effervescent Dorcas Lane, who is post-mistress at the local post office in Candleford.

The pair epitomise the force of friendship as they see each other through the best and worst of times.

Laura being sent off to work in a nearby post office when the new baby arrived in her family was bad timing as it looked like she was moved out to make room for the baby but what the kids did to Caroline while she was asleep was amusing, Laura standing up for her home village was great and the row over having to pay for telegram deliveries service was interesting but with Queenie's brother dying without her knowing because she couldn't afford the charge was sad and how the Postmistress and Sir Timothy quietly scheme to resolve the 8 miles issue was great

Laura being trusted with the fact that Mrs Macey husband Dan had escaped from jail but being overheard by Zillah you just knew when it was being talked about in the village they would blame Laura but at leased Zillah owned up and Caroline debts getting out of had thanks too her drinking problems was bound to happen sooner or later but the court ruling was great

Robert refusing to let his children sing the Tories song in the local church concert was bound to upset his family and the residents of the village, young Amos worried about the new maid Patty did seem unfounded but kissing her was a surprise and his father wanting to marry her only made things worse

Ruby and Pearl's estranged father selling potions outside their shop was interesting but using Caroline as his sampler was amusing and I can't believe he stole their saving but Caroline trying to hide from the bailiff was a bad idea

Trust Laura to mislay the parcel when the inspector Mr Rushton was doing an audit but the journey the parcel took before being delivered was amusing and Mr Rushton being take ill was a blessing in disguise

Robert taking the family in for one night was nice but to run away leaving the little girl behind was sad but Lady Adelaide wanting to take her in was a little sudden and the anonymous love letter the ladies were writing for Thomas was amusing as he delivered it by mistake to Sir Timothy and glad the family came back for their daughter

Sam saving Laura was nice but his wife having him arrested for hitting his wife was a shock to everyone and you can understand why Lady Adelaide was fed up with Timothy's friendship with Dorcas, Laura inviting Philip to her families Sunday lunch was interesting

Dorcus first run in with the new school master Mr Delafield was amusing as at first she was expecting a lady and the missing book from the damaged parcel didn't help, Pearl wanting to press charges against Mr Delafield for stopping her from beating a little girl with a stick was crazy but the sisters stopping at nothing to get rid of him was terrible

Caroline returning from prison was a nice surprise and Queenie finding that piece of art in a grave yard was interesting as it could be valuable but dreaming of everything they could buy was bound to have an unhappy ending, Laura's brother being seriously hurt whilst out poaching was unfortunate as Philip was convinced it was Alf

Robert loosing his job because he wouldn't give up the real poacher was sad as it was all down to Laura's boyfriend, Philip and Dorcas deciding to sell the post office came as a surprise to Laura, Zillah dying on her birthday was a sad way to end the season

Dorcas and Laura faces when the wind blew their candle out while they were on the stairs was priceless and the mysterious young girl looking for Jeremiah was strange as she was supposed to of died around 80 years ago

Dorcas housekeeper, Minnie is a waste of space but looks like she has her own family problems and James opening a new hotel should be interesting but what the land lady was trying to do was diabolical

Thomas thinking the new bike Dorcas brought was for his deliveries was amusing as he is very stuck in his old ways and I hope Twister suggesting that Alf makes Laura jealous by making her think he has another woman doesn't backfire

Thomas about to see Miss Ellison's father was sad as they found him dead and trying to propose while she was drunk was amusing but you just knew he would fall of the bike as he hadn't used it before

Dorcas offering her support to Emma when she finds family life tough was nice but she should of been aware not everyone would be happy and Thomas having a natural gift with the baby was a surprise as he don't want any of his own
