Points awards activity: post your suggestions and advices for new site here

I have now tried watching films on my desktop computer, my android smart phone, my android tablet and my LG smart TV all at full screen but the TV is the only one with the flickering video bar so three out of four isn't bad for a new site

I am watching a tv show on my Lg smart TV now so far no flickering. I agree the layout needs much improvement is is very confusing.

The timeline/toolbar at the bottom of the screen has lost its 'auto-hide' function in full screen mode. It tries to auto-hide, but pops back up immediately, so it basically flashes on and off...on and off...on and off, at a 2 second cycle rate.  Needless to say, this is a real buzzkill having to watch a show or movie with that toolbar always visible on screen, cycling on & off And no, my cursor is not hovering over the timeline/toolbar (which would normally suspend the auto-hide function). Once again, this problem only occurs when you watch in 'full-screen' mode.

Hi there, Thank you for giving us the opportunity to provide feedback.

The most important fonction as far as I'm concerned is our VIEWING HISTORY. If it were possible to know which episodes I have watched from the TV show's main viewing page for each season, that would be an absolute luxury

If not something similar to the viewing log we had before would also be much appreciated, at least 20 pages (or more!!) with a search option.  Right now, we only have access to 2 short pages.  With the amount of different shows I watch (and I'm sure I'm not the only one), that is very problematic.

I agree with the other viewers comments as well:
- I too would use the recently added list as a starting point and would love to have that back
- I would love to see the pop out player return. Very important when one needs to multitask. I use the VIP service on my computer primarily.
- Not a fan of the TV series landing page - at all. I would much prefer to browse each TV show by image and after clicking on my choice, proceed to choose which season I'd like to watch.
- I'm very happy that the black background will be returning.
- The rating process doesn't seem to work for me. Nothing happens when I click on the stars. (Using Safari browser this evening)
- I'd appreciate a link to the forum somewhere too if possible.
- And I can't seem to change my email address in my profile.

Hopefully, the service hasn't gotten too much more expensive. Only time will tell! I've always been a happy customer and I'm sure you'll end up providing us with an interface that will please us all.
Keep up the good work. Here's hoping my wishes will be heard! <img src=">

More/updated recommendations
These recommendations are coming from a webdesign perspective and critique on user experience and click conversion
  1. When you type a query into the search field and select an item from the drop down box, it should enter that query and start a search without the user having to hit enter or return.
  2. Add media query for screen over 1050 so number of points on account are visible next to user name. Allows users to prioritize their watching when they have low points.
  3. Need to improve the recently updated sections accessibility. From what I can tell this is how your loyal & long standing users access the shows they watch. Updates often go over 20, meaning 48 hours away from the site leads to frustration and multiple clicks searching or viewing TV guide sites. This translates to navigating away from your site (the last thing you want a mobile user doing).
  4. The star ratings everywhere are confusing. Only individual shows can be rated but this is not readily apparent. Also to add to that confusion this show has ratings for episodes that don't match what is shown for the season rating and then the show itself has no stars at all, making completely no sense. This is a minor problem but really needs to be streamlined in the future as ratings helps user conversion.
  5. The free icon needs to be larger on the season page, similar to it's size on the episode page. Currently it just looks like a meaningless red dot. This has been fixed.
  6. Genre should be listed in the information section on season pages. This is critical information for a viewer navigating straight from the front page looking for something new to watch to suit their mood. Especially important when hew shows are added to the site.
  7. Visited links should be a different color on the season and episode pages so the user knows what has been viewed.
  8. Episode title on episode page (where current points cost warning message is)

A few more things

As an end user I fail to see what benefits the new player is supposed to give me...  please explain?

1. The player has no popup mode. This is really annoying. I seldom use full screen mode on the desktop. And the inline player can't easily be resized. Add a popup mode with a resizeable player.

2. There's no information about which episode you are currently watching which means that you have to go back to your profile page to see which episode you was just watching before moving on to the next episode. Display the episode number on the player page and if you add a popup mode then display it in the window title.

3. The viewing logs are totally messed up, every time you pause a new entry is added.

Viewing Logs

Hello Just one thing I hope can be changed. When I pause a video and then then resume play this is logged onto my viewing log. It is clogging up the Viewing log page and is unnecessary. Can this be changed so that the episode does not get logged whener it is paused and then resumed? thank you.

Hi Bala, Thanks for that but I had already noticed. As I said, "Right now, we only have access to 2 short pages. With the amount of different shows I watch (and I'm sure I'm not the only one), that is very problematic." I was suggesting either have every episode watched by an account be marked on the individual TV show season page OR having something similar to the viewing log we had before, at least 20 pages (or more!!) with a search option.

I don't post here in the forums much, but I've been using this site for a very long time over two different accounts.  I have some disagreements with the new program/new website design.

1.  Biggest gripe is the raise in points per episode.  I can accept 3 points for a 40 minute+ episode, but it's too steep for a 20 minute sitcom.

2.  Recently updated TV series was the most important thing for me on the old website to make sure I'm up to date on shows.  Now I can't find this information very easily.

3.  Viewing log was the 2nd most important thing, and it's a mess now too with the pausing being logged and very few shows fitting on the page.

3.  There's hardly any point in a adding the movies at the current playback quality.

4.  Not only do I disagree with the price increase, the way it was implemented basically reduced the value of the points I've already paid for by 1/3rd.

5.  I would prefer to search for a TV show first, and then the season.  I don't like how every season is included as a separate item in the list of shows.

The less-negative feedback:
Not a huge fan of the design, but it does load really fast.
I think it's perfectly fair to have the first 3 episodes free and charge for the rest. (but please once again see comments about pricing above)

1. Latest episode list needed

2. Search in Logs for episodes watched needed.

3. Black color is much better

4. Message options need to be greater than 30 characters for title and 300 for content.

5. Pop up screen was much better than current

Can't tell what episode I watched

I'm currently watching Luke Cae and I have found that I am selecting the same episode as there is no way at the moment to tell which one I have just watched, the episode title is not showing like it did previously. Can that be looked into please.

I agree with this 100%. 3 points per episode of New Girl is too high. How about keeping the 2 points per episode for shows that are short?

Am I the only one that honestly doesn't give a crap about being able to view this on a phone? Not once have I ever even attempted to do so. Will the ability to "pop out" the video, as was the case on the old site, going to be implemented? That was what made it SO handy and usable on a multi-monitor station.

The update time for this site is now and has been lagging way behind other sites and it's own previous update window. I understand that HTML5 files are decently larger than the old files, but when we a re talking about more than 5+ hours difference from when you used to update this is a problem. I get frustrated with having nothing to watch and resort to watching inferior recordings of shows on free sites when I would much rather watch them here. If there is any way to streamline your upload schedule and make it better you should be doing it.

Another rant from Tim concerning the new site design. Currently, he is trapped between bewilderment and outright anger...
The last five or six days since the so-called "upgrade" have been, for me, the most frustrating, confusing, maddening days in recent memory. And the timing couldn't have been worse, happening as it did just as a slew of new series were being introduced and old ones were concluding their season run. I don't see how anyone can consider this redesign an improvement in any way. We now have reverted to a childish and confusing  skeleton of the UI we had come to love. The former site design was brilliantly functional, visually refined and easily navigated. You could log in and quickly check the left-hand update list, hit the 'more' button and have that essential list of 50 latest new episodes added. This allowed you to be offline for several days, return later and catch right up with the update schedule. Any question as to where I left off with watched episodes was as simple as a cut-and-paste of the show title into my viewing logs' search bar. I would happily have paid an additional fee for the utility of preserving my logs for much longer time periods, if not permanently. But at least I could download my history before it was wiped every few months. That  feature is but one of the many functional courtesies we have lost with this new design. Now the viewing logs are filling up with uselessly repeating entries every time I hit 'pause'. Because of that one glitch, my logs contain less than 30% useful entries As a result of all these new changes and omissions, I despair in the knowledge that each day I am falling further and further behind in maintaining any continuity whatsoever in my viewing schedule and record keeping. It's just hit and miss now, and I truly resent being forced into such futile, time-wasting chaos.
LBJEdward, I certainly hope the supposed improved compatibility with mobile devices  justifies the degree to which you have royally screwed up the user experience for all the rest of us. It would be a kindness to call your efforts anything other than amateur, childish and dysfunctional. It doesn't look good or perform well. The length of time needed to correct all that is wrong and buggy is going to be many long months, and that assumes you have a large team of experienced coders dedicated to the project. God forbid it's just one or two people working beyond their ability. What you have now is a product which is not yet ready even for beta testing. Yet here we all are, beta testing your unready experiment. The free movies and episodes are compensation for enduring all the inconvenience.
Merging movies onto a TV site feels like a belt-tightening move to save some money. You might reconsider separate TV and movie sites and even a mobile platform with its own optimized site. Then VIPTV could revert to its former beautiful utility and familiar appearance. Consolidating all those services into one website feels cramped and compromised. Frankly, I'm more than a little put out by this experiment you have forced on us. You obviously lack the tools needed to produce anything near the intuitive utility of the old VIP site. You admitted, for example, the new code not being able to add something as simple as a 'forum' link button. If all this is to make stuff work better on a smart phone, I would consider your priorities  terribly misplaced.
Judge for yourself: tally up the favorable comments versus the unfavorable ones in these forums. Or let us kick it up a notch and start a new, prominently displayed thread topic such as "New VIPTV Website Design--Better or Worse? Vote On Rollback To Old Design."
I also have questions as to what the resolution is for shows on this new site. We used to have a choice of standard resolution or HD. That choice is now unavailable, and my initial impression is that I'm not watching HD anymore. Any comment?
One or two final "Boy Do I Miss It" observations: for the first-time visitor landing on the home page, the exhaustive list of all your show titles at the bottom of the page was a great 'all-in-one-place' idea to convey the expansive library available. I also appreciated knowing what show title and episode #  was currently playing. Show tracking and record keeping was built in to the old interface. This new interface demands we create separate text documents in order to maintain any idea of where we are, where we were and what we have done. Intuitive navigation is now just a fond and fading memory.

Once it was easy; now it is hard. Once it was beautiful; now it is not. Once it was fun; now… not so much. We mourn the passing of a cherished and familiar friend– the VIP interface. Pray for its return. Is what you have gained indeed worth the cost of what you have lost? We still love you, LBJEdward, but think carefully on what you have done. We are all holding our collective breath, waiting for this nightmare to end.

I don't know how to cancel a post that was entered twice by mistake. So ignore this post, or consider it an apology. [ Last edited by mrtimdillenbeck at 10-26-2016 06:06 ]

Any chance you could bring back the latest episode added feature? I used that a lot.
