Season 1



Episode 1: Jumping Tracks (Jan/04/2012)
Rich, young, socialite Gladys yearns to do her part by joining Victory Munitions' secretarial pool. At the factory, Gladys meets the girls of Blue Shift, including Betty, a tough farm-girl; new girl Kate, who's on the run from an abusive father; and the glamorous Vera. Governing them all is Lorna, their formidable shift matron whose stern exterior masks a conflicted soul. Enjoying the taste of her new life, Gladys embarks on a brave and foolhardy venture to secretly defy her family and join these girls.

Episode 2: Misfires (Jan/11/2012)
Gladys works hard to juggle her double life racing between the factory-floor and attending high-society parties, when an unforeseen tragedy divides the factory: a faulty test-bomb sends a worker to the hospital with serious injuries. Men are quick to blame the Blue Shift women and factory manager Harold needs a scapegoat. Determined to clear the girls, Lorna and Marco conduct their own investigations, while Kate scrambles to protect her false identity. Despite her outsider status, Gladys attempts to galvanize the women to stand up for their rights.

Episode 3: How You Trust (Jan/18/2012)
A surprise inspection throws Victory Munitions into a frenzy. Determined to prove themselves, the girls band together, and Lorna uses the opportunity to incriminate Marco. Kate finds herself as the prime suspect in a rash of thefts and is exiled to the storeroom, where she meets a man who shows her a thrilling new world of music. Singled out as the thief's target, Gladys lays a trap that nets a shocking secret.

Episode 4: Bringing Up Bombshell (Jan/25/2012)
Blue Shift claims the honour of building Victory Munitions' millionth bomb, and film director Russell Joseph is searching for the perfect poster-girl to star in his recruitment newsreel. Management chooses Betty who, urged by Kate, accepts. Meanwhile, a rise in factory hankypanky prompts Lorna to pitch Harold on a factory "code of conduct." And Gladys finally finds the courage to confront her fiancé James about his past.

Episode 5: Armistice (Feb/01/2012)
Lorna is asked to give a speech at the factory for Armistice Day, while James and Gladys' relationship is put to the test after he finds out about Gladys' fling with an airman. Betty tries unsuccessfully to spend time alone with Kate, while Vera is forced to make a difficult choice.

Episode 6: Elements of Surprise (Feb/08/2012)
Set against the attack on Pearl Harbor, Gladys' secret job is exposed, while Lorna grapples with a possible pregnancy and Kate struggles to stand up to the return of her manipulative father.

Episode 1: The Quickening (Jan/02/2013)
Lorna continues to deal with the fallout from her pregnancy, while Betty finds a friend she has not seen in years - but may end up wishing she had not. It is Valentine's Day but not all the women feel like celebrating. Kate tries to talk her way out of a delicate situation, and still reeling from Lorna's news, Marco must confront Bob at the exact moment she needs him most. Episode 3: The Enemy Within (Jan/16/2013)
Lorna tries to impress the girls with some frugal recipes, and Vera continues to help out soldiers in need. Meanwhile, Betty and Kate try to heal their wounds by turning to religion, and Gladys lends her car and stature to the Moretti family cause. Second World War drama, starring Meg Tilly

Episode 4: Guests of Honor (Jan/23/2013)
Lorna pulls out all the stops to host a dinner party for her son, an ace gunner who is on leave promoting war bonds, but when the blackout siren sounds, he takes advantage and escapes. Episode 5: The Harder We Fight (Jan/30/2013)
A group of Maritimers arrives at the plant, but one of the girls gets on the wrong side of Betty. Meanwhile, Lorna's son Gene convinces Gladys to join him on an adventure and Carol fights dirty when vying against Vera for the position of office manager. Second World War drama, starring Ali Liebert

Episode 6: Where There's Smoke (Feb/06/2013)
Gladys makes some bold choices when she discovers who has been paying her hotel bills, and Lorna finally admits that her son's bravado might come from a dark place. Meanwhile, Betty meets a soldier named Teresa who offers her new possibilities, and Marco sources the cavalcade fireworks from Frank

Episode 7: Party Line (Mar/25/2013)
As the girls harvest their garden, Vera uncovers a TNT shortage which jeopardises her friendship with Marco. Meanwhile, Gladys isolates herself to fight her own private battles, and Betty has an unexpected reunion with a soldier. Second World War drama, starring Ali Liebert and Jodi Balfour

Episode 8: Fifth Column (Apr/01/2013)
While out with the girls, Gladys receives unwanted attention from a mystery man and an overly-curious redhead. Meanwhile, in a bid to get closer to her daughter, Lorna enlists Kate's help. Second World War drama, starring Jodi Balfour and Meg Tilly

Episode 9: Something Fierce (Apr/08/2013)
Journalist Dottie Shannon visits the factory and ruffles feathers after she sheds light on the difference between women and men's salaries, while after this revelation, Lorna feels torn about whether to ask for a pay increase. Second World War drama, starring Meg Tilly

Episode 10: Romeo Foxtrot (Apr/15/2013)
Lorna decides to take dance classes and finds herself smitten with her teacher, while Gladys is told the importance of wartime intelligence and keeping tabs on her friends. Vera misconstrues Gladys' newfound interest in Marco, who further questions his allegiances after his mother is wrongfully accused of stealing. Second World War drama, starring Meg Tilly

Episode 11: Kings and Pawns (Apr/22/2013)
Gladys is unsettled after being dismissed by Clifford, who informs her the intelligence she provided has led to Marco being ensnared, and the Governor General's upcoming tour of Victory Munitions has the factory in a whirl. Second World War drama, starring Jodi Balfour

Episode 12: Blood Relations (Apr/29/2013)
A blood drive calls on everyone at the factory to donate to the boys fighting the war in Egypt - but some are reluctant to give. Meanwhile, Kate's happiness in the wake of her reunion with her mother and the upcoming wedding is short-lived when Detective Brodie reappears and poses questions about her father's death, and Gladys is offered an unexpected opportunity.
