About the Show:
Lights Out, from Executive Producer/Showrunner Warren Leight (In Treatment), stars Holt McCallany (CSI: Miami) as an aging former heavyweight boxing champion who struggles to find his identity and support his wife and three daughters after retiring from the ring. Financial problems leave him at a perilous crossroads – battling the urge to return to boxing or reluctantly accepting a job as a brutal and intimidating debt collector. Catherine McCormack (Braveheart) co-stars as “Theresa Leary,” Lights’ wife who is finishing her medical residency; Pablo Schreiber (Law & Order) as “Johnny Leary,” Lights’ brother and business manager whom Lights put through college; and Stacy Keach (Fat City) as “Pops,” Lights’ father and former trainer who runs the boxing gym owned by Lights. Clark Johnson (The Shield, The Wire) and Norberto Barba (In Treatment, CSI: NY) directed the pilot episode. Series Creator Justin Zackham (The Bucket List), Phillip Noyce (Salt) and Ross Fineman are also Executive Producers. Lights Out is produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions.

Lights Out Season 1 Episode Guide



Episode 1. Pilot
Follows the struggles of a former heavyweight boxing champion. His name is Patrick "Lights" Leary. He tries to find his identity and support his wife and three daughters after retiring from the ring.

Episode 2. Cakewalk
Leary is threatened with criminal charges, so he must work for Hal Brennan to get them cleared. Leary's daughter finds out about his diagnosis and confronts him about it.

Episode 3. The Shot
The day before his birthday, Patrick "lights" Leary tries to reach a young fighter, who's only interest, is getting a shot at becoming the heavyweight champion. As Leary's brother Johnny tells him, however, a title fight will bring in enough revenue to save the gym, which is nearly bankrupt. The decision to train the fighter or not, plus trouble with his daughters at home, cause the day to be extremely stressful for Lights.

Episode 4. Bolo Punch
Lights may have to put himself on the line, when his brother Johnny gets himself into some serious trouble with the wrong people.

Episode 5. The Comeback
Lights Leary and his wife Theresa, are once again at odds. She is concerned about their ever worsening financial situation. So his problems are familial, because Theresa is worried what he might do next. And they are physical, as Lights feels the ever deepening effects of his dementia.

Episode 6. Combinations
Lights begins serious training for his upcoming fight, but struggles being away from his family.

Episode 7. Crossroads
Lights battles obstacles in his life, both professional and personal.

Episode 8. Head Games
Robert thinks his son should quit boxing and Lights turns to another trainer, Ed Romeo. Pat's daughter Ava wants to go to the prom, but her mother has concerns. The family takes exception to the introduction of an outsider into Pat's boxing career.

Episode 9. Infight
Ed Romeo continues to train Lights in his unorthodox but effective manner. Lights feels in the best shape of his life, but Romeo's comstant distain for his Father, Brother and sister wears on him.

Episode 10. Cut Men
Lights' health and career are jeopardized when Reynolds refuses to postpone the fight.

Episode 11. Rainmaker
Lights tries to help out a "punch drunk" former boxer. He also finds himself threatened by a witness to his job for Brennan.

Episode 12. Sucker Punch
Just as things are ramping up for the big fight, Lights receives a surprise visitor

Episode 13. War
Fight night arrives. Does Lights still have what it takes? Will his 5 years away from the ring be too much, especially against an opponant like Reynolds?
