About the Show:
Switched at Birth, a one-hour scripted drama, tells the story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Bay Kennish grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother, while Daphne Vasquez, who lost her hearing at an early age due to a case of meningitis, grew up with a single mother in a working-class neighborhood. Things come to a dramatic head when both families meet and struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls.

Season 1



Episode 1: This is Not a Pipe (Jun/06/2011)
Two Sixteen year olds Bay Kennish and Daphne Vasquez learn that they were accidentally switched at birth. Bay grew up in a rich Family where Daphne grew up with a single mother and went deaf after getting sick at a young age.

Episode 2: American Gothic (Jun/13/2011)
Conflict looms between the polar opposite mothers when Kathryn questions Regina’s parenting style. In addition, Regina, Daphne’s mother, refuses to join the Kennish’s in their efforts to sue the hospital that made the life-altering mistake of switching the girls at birth, leaving Kathryn to wonder what this stranger hiding. As the girls struggle to adjust to life together, Bay, begins seeing Ty, a boy from Daphne’s old neighborhood, while Daphne goes on a date with Liam, totally unaware that he’s Bay’s ex-boyfriend and that Liam doesn't know the situation between Bay and her. While Bay may have met the one guy who can keep up with her rebellious ways, Daphne, realizes that Emmett was right about Liam: that he's just another "hearing football jerk".

Episode 3: Portrait of My Father (Jun/20/2011)
Now that Regina and Daphne have completely moved into the Kennish’s home, many of Kathryn’s friends and neighbors have begun asking questions. Kathryn decides it’s best to keep their situation a secret and devises a lie, in an effort to protect Bay, who quickly becomes victim to town gossip. Bay asks Daphne more about her biological father, but is shut down, leaving her more determined to further investigate. Meanwhile, John gets involved in Daphne’s basketball games, and it’s there that he meets Melody (Marlee Matlin), Regina’s best friend and Emmet’s mother, who also happens to be the school counselor and fill-in coach at Daphne’s school.

Episode 4: Dance Amongst Daggers (Jun/27/2011)
Kathryn host the annual benefit for the school at the house and soon the newly mixed family become the subject of Mission Hills gossip. And things don't get better for them all personally when Kathryn becomes jealous of John's new friendship with Melody. Also, Regina accepts an invite for dinner with one of Kathryn's best-friends ex husbands and Bay becomes finds it hard to accept that Daphne has started hanging around with Liam.

Episode 5: Dogs Playing Poker (Jul/04/2011)
After learning that Bay has secretly been seeing Ty both John and Kathryn insist on having him over for dinner. Knowing that they're going to use the dinner to interrogate him, Bay tries to prepare, but she's nowhere near prepared for the secret Ty reveals. And Daphne's morals are tested when Toby ropes her and Emmett into a poker game, but it soon becomes clear that he may be in over his head.

Episode 6: The Persistence of Memory (Jul/11/2011)
Daphne struggles to fit in at her new school as she becomes the subject of gossip at Buckner Hall after an incident in cooking class. Elsewhere, Bay and Emmett grow close while doing some research into her father together. Also, Toby finds himself in serious trouble as he struggles to pay Wilke back the money he owes him which, leads him to do something that could get him in even more trouble. Kathryn takes steps towards getting to know Daphne more after a quite heated conversation with Regina by beginning to learn ASL. And the Kennish's learn that the hospital has withdrawn it's settlement offer and wants to take the case to trial.

Episode 7: The Stag Hunt (Jul/18/2011)
After the Kennish's learn of his involvement with the stolen exam and a talk with Regina, Toby decides to turn himself in and not let Wilke take all the blame. Meanwhile, Bay and Emmett continue to bond in her hunt for her biological father and, Daphne learns of a life changing secret that Regina has been keeping from her.

Episode 8: Pandora's Box (Jul/25/2011)
As Bay and Emmett's relationship continues to get more serious she become conscious about his apparent love for Daphne. Meanwhile, Daphne is upset with Regina after learning the truth and spends the day hanging out with Wilke in her old neighbourhood. During the Deposition, Kathyrn and John are blind-sighted by what they learn and, later everyone confronts Regina over her lies and she comes clean about knowing all about the switch for the past 12 years and how. With no one but Toby willing to give her a chance she packs a few things and leaves.

Episode 9: Paradise Lost (Aug/01/2011)
As Bay and Daphne celebrate their birthday, Regina uses it as an opportunity to try and make amends. Meanwhile, the Kennish's look into their legal standing for trying to get custody of both girls. As Bay & Emmett try to figure out the best way to tell Daphne about their relationship but, there could be serious roadblocks in the form of Melody and a conversation that leaves Bay unsure about the future.

Episode 10: The Homecoming (Aug/08/2011)
In the summer finale Bay gets a surprise when her biological father Angelo turns up wanting to get to know both her and Daphne, which doesn't go down well with the Kennish's. Meanwhile, Toby and Wilke get the opportunity to perform at a festival but they need Emmett's help to do so however, he's less than willing. Also, Daphne and Bay both tell Emmett how they feel and although he initially backs off from Bay because of the communication difficulties, after a talk with Toby he commits to her with a heartfelt message. And Daphne lets Bay know that she's not going to give up on Emmett as Angelo tells Regina that he's not leaving and that he wants to be a family again with Kathryn looking on.

Episode 11: Starry Night (Jan/03/2012)
Kathryn thinks she found a nurse who knew about the switch. Bay crashes the festival the boys are playing at because she heard Daphne was there. Simone Flirts with Toby.

Episode 12: The Tempest (Jan/10/2012)
As Daphne gets to know her new friend Simone, Toby and Wilke enbark on a new money making scheme in the form of Fake ID's. Meanhwile, Bay attempts to win over Melody to no avail and Regina's assistance doesn't seem to make things any easier. And Kathryn is approached about making the family's baby-switch story into a book, but when the reporter interested wants to sensationalize everything she considers doing it herself.

Episode 13: Self Portrait with a Bandaged Ear (Jan/17/2012)
As Angelo makes Regina a business offer, Daphne finally confronts him about the reason he left. Meanwhile, Melody's opinion of Bay and Emmett's relationship doesn't improve when he gets in trouble. And the Kennish's entire case against the hospital is put in jeopardy when they learn some new disheartning information about their lawyer.

Episode 14: Les Soeurs D'estrees (Jan/24/2012)
Emmetts mom insits that Emmett sells his motorcycle to help pay they $5000 fine he got. Both Bay and Daphne try to help, but both end up selling short. Meanwhile, Angelo learns that Regina knew that Daphne was switched at birth for 13 years. Emmett decides to move in with his dad , and Regina and Angelo start a relationship.

Episode 15: Explusion from the Garden of Eden (Jan/31/2012)
Angelo attends a Dinner held by the Kennish's. Meanwhile, Wilke has some news for Daphne, a woman with a possible history with John shows up. And Emmett moves in with his Dad.

Episode 16: Las Dos Fridas (Feb/07/2012)
Kathryn's mother pays a visit while, Bay and Regina probe Angelo's disappearance. And Toby's new girlfriend tries to change him.

Episode 17: Protect Me from What I Want (Feb/14/2012)
Emmett gathers the Kennish and Vasquez families together for a group portrait also, an art gallery owner takes an interest in Regina's work. Meanwhile, Bay reassures Emmett that her feelings for Ty are in the past.

Episode 18: The Art of Painting (Feb/21/2012)
Reginas art work goes up in the gallery. Emmett is having trouble with speech therapy. Bay confides in Melody about Emmett dropping out of school.

Episode 19: Write a Lonely Solider (Feb/28/2012)
John and Kathryn meet with Angelo's lawyers, who claim that Regina switched the babies on purpose meanwhile, Bay finds herself torn between Emmett and a returned Ty. And Daphne's basketball exhibition game goes awry when she doesn't see eye-to-eye with an opposing player named Theo.

Episode 20: Game On (Mar/06/2012)
Carlton vs. Bunker in basketball game leaves Daphne in sticky situation. Bay gets in the middle of Emmetts custody situation.

Episode 21: The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters (Mar/13/2012)
Bay and Daphne team up on Emmetts birthday present. Meanwhile Emmett regrets what he did with Simone.

Episode 22: Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time (Mar/20/2012)
Bay discovers the secret that Emmett has been hiding. Prom has finally arrived.

Episode 23: This Is the Color of My Dreams (Sep/03/2012)
It's the beginning of a new school year, and a lot has happened during the summer. Daphne is on the job hunt and finally gets one at a restaurant called Maize, where she befriends a line cook named Scuba. She agrees to a date with a guy named Brad but is still hung up on Wilke. Meanwhile, Toby has a plan for getting revenge on Simone, but things don't go down the way they're supposed to.

Episode 24: The Intruder (Sep/10/2012)
Regina's impulsive wedding creates major consequences for the Vasquez and Kennish families; John's baseball record may be broken; Daphne and Emmett enter their zombie flick in a film festival, andBay considers being part of a street art crew.

Episode 25: The Shock of Being Seen (Sep/17/2012)
Daphne's Boss is well like by Kathryn, Melody, and Regina. Bay uses Angelo to get around Johns rules.

Episode 26: Tree of Forgiveness (Sep/24/2012)
Toby is caught stealing a statur but is let off with a warning once it is revealed who his father is. Bay is forced to paint a chuch murial as punnishment for getting a traffic ticket. Meanwhile, Daphne and Emmett go to a motorcycle show together and Regina ends up in the ER after injuring her ankle.

Episode 27: The Declaration of Independence (Oct/01/2012)
Bay and Zarra get into a dangerous situation when they search for the tagger who is ruining their street art; Chef Jeff's mixed signals confuse Daphne.

Episode 28: We are the Kraken of Our Own Sinking Ships. (Oct/08/2012)
Bay is called upon to rescue Zarra from a sticky situation; Scuba asks Daphne to lie to Chef Jeff; Toby and Nikki bond.

Episode 29: The Trial (Oct/15/2012)
The lawsuit against the hospital comes to a head as Angelo returns in time for the beginning of the trial. Meanwhile, Bay scrambles to return the money she "borrowed" from John to help Zarra. Daphne and Jeff struggle in their relationship; and Emmett, Nikki and Toby form a new band.

Episode 30: Streets Noise Invaded the House (Oct/22/2012)
Daphne meets the CEO, and it's not under the best circumstances.

Episode 1: The Door to Freedom (Jan/07/2013)
In the second-season opener, a newly wealthy Angelo buys expensive presents for everyone. Meanwhile, John and Kathryn contemplate entering the political arena; Bay faces cheating accusations; and Daphne lands in hot water because of Jeff.

Episode 2: The Awakening Conscience (Jan/14/2013)
Regina is shocked when Angelo tells her about Lana and the baby. After convincing her parents to let her attend Carlton School for the Deaf, Bay discovers that the transition is not as easy as she had expected. Meanwhile, Toby and Nikki's relationship hits a bump when Emmett sees something from Nikki's past that makes Toby question exactly who this girl is.

Episode 3: Duel of Two Women (Jan/21/2013)
Bay finds herself on the wrong end of Natalie's wrath, forcing Melody to take everyone on a Tolerance Retreat to help bridge the divide between them.

Meanwhile, Kathryn possibly hurts John's campaign during a radio interview. Regina gets bad news about her health. Toby and Lana bond.

Episode 4: Dressing for the Charade (Jan/28/2013)
Bay adjusts to the changing nature of her relationship with Angelo; Daphne considers taking the next step with Travis.

Episode 5: The Acquired Inability to Escape (Feb/04/2013)
Daphne may have taken on more than she can handle, while Kathryn volunteers to direct the play at Bay's new school.

Meanwhile, Toby approaches his grandfather for a college recommendation.

Episode 6: Human/Need/Desire (Feb/11/2013)
Bay throws an Anti-Valentine's Day party, inviting both her hearing and deaf friends, which leads to a heated confrontation between Noah and Travis. Angelo and Lana call a truce long enough to chaperone the event.

Meanwhile, Regina butts heads with John and Kathryn over how to handle the situation with Daphne and the food truck.

Episode 7: Drive in the Knife (Feb/18/2013)
Daphne and Travis have a falling out that sets off a series of events that neither of them saw coming. Bay and Noah's relationship blossoms, but Emmett won't give up without a fight. Meanwhile, Toby meets a new girl at his father's campaign headquarters. Zoey Deutch guest stars as Elisa, a volunteer with a secret agenda.

Episode 8: Tight Rope Walker (Feb/25/2013)
Daphne feels torn when the deaf students at Carlton rally the school board to prevent even more hearing kids from attending through the pilot program. Meanwhile, Bay questions Regina's behavior, Daphne gets the lead in the play and Toby grows closer to Elisa.

Episode 9: Uprising (Mar/04/2013)
When news of the school's closing spreads throughout campus, Daphne leads the students of Carlton School for the Deaf in arranging a demonstration to take place on the eve of the "Romeo and Juliet" play, in which Daphne has the lead role. Meanwhile, as one of a handful of hearing students in the school, Bay's attempt to be part of the campaign is challenged.

Episode 10: Introducing the Miracle (Mar/11/2013)
Daphne and the students of Carlton School for the Deaf find out if their protest will keep the school open, and deaf. Lana goes into labor, Toby makes a surprise announcement, and John's campaign for office ends unexpectedly.

Meanwhile, an intoxicated Regina shows up at Angelo's. And, will Emmett tell Bay about the kiss between Daphne and Noah?

Episode 11: Mother and Daughter Divided (Jun/10/2013)
While Regina has been away at rehab, Daphne has grown closer to the Kennish family, spending her days at their country club and her nights in their guest room. This new family dynamic does not sit well with Regina, who unexpectedly returns home early in hopes of spending more time with Daphne. Bay begrudgingly starts working at her dad's office and, when her car breaks down near a local carnival, runs into her ex-boyfriend, Ty (guest star Blair Redford, "The Lying Game"), who has returned from serving in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Travis talks Emmett into bringing some girls over to the house while Melody is out of town, and Kathryn's elaborate ideas for Toby and Nikki's rehearsal dinner rubs Nikki the wrong way.

Episode 12: Distorted House (Jun/17/2013)
Just as Bay and Ty begin to reconnect, Bay learns some shocking news about Ty's experiences in Afghanistan and after he returned home. John is torn when both Toby and Travis approach him about a manager position at the car wash.

Meanwhile, Kathryn and Daphne have a hard time coming to terms with Bay's request to stay with Regina.

Episode 13: The Good Samaritan (Jun/24/2013)
When she sees that Toby is overwhelmed by the demands of work and planning a wedding on a budget, Bay looks to lighten the mood and books his band to perform at the local carnival. Angelo is frustrated by Regina and Bay's messiness, while Adrianna's frequent visits has Kathryn on edge.

Meanwhile, Jace introduces Daphne to geocaching.

Episode 14: He Did What He Wanted (Jul/01/2013)
The politics of being a senator's wife are put to the test when Kathryn has an uncomfortable encounter. Daphne is getting mixed signals from Jace and Bay learns more about Mary Beth and Ty.

Meanwhile, Angelo joins the country club and Regina starts a new job.

Episode 15: Ecce Mono (Jul/08/2013)
What if Regina had told the hospital about the switch when she discovered it years ago? And what if both girls had been raised in the privileged Kennish household from age three? In "Ecce Mono," this alternate reality is revealed: Daphne has a cochlear implant, and doesn't know American Sign Language. Having been spoiled by her parents to make up for the switch, she's manipulative and not the best student. Bay, on the other hand, is a straight-A student, often trying to compensate for being the Kennishes' non-biological daughter. In addition, Kathryn is a successful author of bodice-ripping novels and, while still married to State Senator John Kennish, their marriage is far from perfect.

Episode 16: The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living (Jul/15/2013)
Daphne is forced to split her time between her loved ones and her new boyfriend, Jace. John has issues coming to grips with the aftershocks of his emergency. Bay is introduced to an Army colleague of Ty's, and they contemplate a next step in their relationship.

Episode 17: Prudence, Avarice, Lust, Justice, Anger (Jul/22/2013)
Angelo invites Bay to join him at a pivotal meeting concerning the custody of his infant daughter. When Daphne and Jace uncover a potential scandal regarding Senator Coto, they must decide what to do with the confidential information. Meanwhile, Nikki discovers that Toby and Simone have been in touch, and Emmett and Travis try to set Melody up on a blind date.

Episode 18: As The Shadows Deepen (Jul/29/2013)
Chef Jeff turns up unexpectedly, stunning Daphne. Nikki gets help from Toby when she has to deal with her family's past. Bay plans "Deaf Day" as a park event and a movie screening with assistance from Emmett.

Episode 19: What Goes Up Must Come Down (Aug/05/2013)
Daphne’s frustration with Jace comes to a head when Parker shares some upsetting news. Nikki confronts her mom about her dad’s history. Meanwhile, John continues to find ways to pay back Regina for saving his life, and Ty and Bay go camping.

Episode 20: The Merrymakers (Aug/12/2013)
Bay and Daphne throw Nikki an impromptu bachelorette party while a call from Simone alters the course of Toby's bachelor party. Meanwhile, Kathryn is surprised at Jennice's extravagant wedding requests, and a change in their living situation leads Angelo and Regina to reevaluate their relationship.

Episode 21: Departure of Summer (Aug/19/2013)
John and Kathryn contemplate telling Toby their true feelings about his decision to marry. Daphne must own up to her mistakes while Bay works on a plan to continue her relationship with Ty while he is overseas. Meanwhile, Angelo finds himself in over his head.

Season 3



Episode 1: Drowning Girl (Jan/13/2014)
Senior year means big changes for Bay and Daphne, as the Carlton School for the Deaf receives an influx of hearing students who are not happy to be there. Daphne begins working at a free clinic as part of her probation from the Senator Coto blackmail scandal, and bonds with a pre-med student with a spinal injury. Bay is inspired by her art teacher and surprised by her jock classmate, when she takes an art class at a local college. Toby tries to unite a divided Carlton by coaching girls' field hockey, and Kathryn dips her toes into new territory when she makes friends with a gregarious tap dancer

Episode 2: Your Body Is A Battleground (Jan/20/2014)
When her art teacher proves to not be easily impressed, Bay is pushed to re-examine her talents. And adding to her discomfort is her forced commitment to the new Carlton field hockey team. Daphne makes a mistake at the clinic, and Campbell helps her correct it. Kathryn introduces her new friend Renzo to John. Meanwhile, Emmett thinks he may have discovered who has been vandalizing cars at Carlton.

Episode 3: Fountain (Jan/27/2014)
Daphne's attempt at building a friendship with her field hockey teammate, Sharee, has been met with lukewarm reception at best, and it takes a turn for the worse when Sharee gets in trouble at school. Bay agrees to help her art teacher Teresa set up a showing at a Minneapolis gallery, in an effort to get a letter of recommendation for her art school application.

Meanwhile, a business opportunity puts Regina in a conflicted position.

Episode 4: It Hurts to Wait With Love If Love Is Somewhere Else (Feb/03/2014)
Bay is surprised by her feelings when she learns that Emmett has started dating again. Jorge asks Daphne to join him at a family function. Regina and Angelo have a heart-to-heart over their business ventures.

Meanwhile, John surprises the family when he makes an unusual purchase.

Episode 5: Have You Really the Courage? (Feb/10/2014)
Kathryn is thrilled to get a second chance at being an author when Renzo sets up a pitch meeting with his book editor friend. Bay worries that Tank may have a crush on her. Daphne is concerned when she learns more about Sharee's home life. Meanwhile, John, and Nikki's mom Jennice, hide some bad news from Toby while they help him move into his new place.

Episode 6: The Scream (Feb/17/2014)
Kathryn's murder mystery party quickly gets complicated when both John and Kathryn discover something about each other. Bay tries to get an invite to Tank's fraternity luau.

Meanwhile, Daphne plans a 21st birthday party for Campbell.

Episode 7: Memory is Your Image of Perfection (Feb/24/2014)
Daphne tries to convince Sharee that she needs to find help for her mother. Bay and Toby hatch a plan to get their parents on the same page. Adrianna is at odds with Regina over her new project.

Meanwhile, Melody is confused by Travis's behavior.

Episode 8: Dance Me to the End of Love (Mar/03/2014)
Daphne dances with the idea of pre-med studies and asks for more responsibility at the free clinic, but is it too much too soon? Worried that his hearing girlfriend will lose interest, Travis hesitantly invites her to a school formal even though he doesn't know how to dance. Bay is left spinning when her teacher demands more of her art, despite her injury.

Meanwhile, John jumps at the chance to win Kathryn over.

Episode 9: The Past (Forgotten-Swallowed) (Mar/10/2014)
Daphne tries to help out Angelo at the clinic's fundraiser, all while juggling the attention of Jorge and Campbell. Bay must deal with MaryBeth's feelings about Tank. Toby tutors Sharee to keep her eligible for the field hockey team.

Meanwhile, John and Kathryn invite one of John's old baseball colleagues over to get some dish for Kathryn's book.

Episode 10: The Ambush (Mar/17/2014)
Bay enlists Tank to help her strike back when the rivalry between the Carlton and Buckner field hockey teams gets heated. Toby gets a surprise visit from Nikki. Regina's relationships in her old neighborhood become an asset at work.

Meanwhile, Daphne chooses whether to date Jorge or Campbell.

Episode 11: Love Seduces Innocence, Pleasure Entraps, and Remorse Follows (Mar/24/2014)
Bay sets out to find out the real story behind Emmett's girlfriend. Daphne questions her ability to volunteer at the clinic when she runs into someone from her past. Feeling guilty about her actions, Regina takes a chance at work.

Meanwhile, Kathryn is shocked to discover that her book has been leaked ahead of publication.

Episode 12: Love Among the Ruins (Jun/16/2014)
Melody wants Emmett to stop being bullied by Matthew. Bay is feeling torn about her feelings for both Emmett and Tank.

Episode 13: Like a Snowball Down a Mountain (Jun/23/2014)
Bay and Emmett challenge Matthew's threats of blackmail, and make a shocking discovery. Daphne is given a promising opportunity at the clinic, but is worried about the impact it will have on Campbell. Kathryn is haunted by her past.

Episode 14: Oh, Future! (Jun/30/2014)
Emmett is given some unexpected news after he attends his father's housewarming party. Daphne's college expenses cause a fall out between Regina, Kathryn and John.

Episode 15: And We Bring the Light (Jul/07/2014)
Toby returns back home from Iceland with a new career goal. Bay receives some unexpected news about college. Angelo gets Daphne to alleviate stress by focusing on a baking challenge.

Episode 16: The Image Disappears (Jul/14/2014)
The Kennish and Vasquez families are filled with grief following a shocking accident that leaves a loved one in critical condition.

Episode 17: Girl With Death Mask (She Plays Alone) (Jul/21/2014)
John comes up with the idea of a trip to Chicago for Bay and Daphne. Bay finds out some news about Angelo's family past.

Episode 18: It Isn't What You Think (Jul/28/2014)
Bay attempts to support Tank after he meets his father for dinner. Toby causes trouble with Lily. Daphne and Travis get their admission results from Gallaudet University.

Episode 19: You Will Not Escape (Aug/04/2014)
Daphne gathers everyone for senior ditch day at Carlton, but chaos soon ensues. Bay looks at Angelo's family-medical history. Kathryn and Regina head to a party in New York.

Episode 20: The Girl on the Cliff (Aug/11/2014)
