About the Show:
The New Adventures of Old Christine is a comedy about a 35-year-old divorced mom, who runs a 30-minute female-only gym with Barbara 'Barb', and tries to keep peace with everyone around her. That includes the judgmental stay-at-home moms at her son Richie's private school, her ex-husband, Richard, and his new girlfriend, whose name is also Christine, Old Christine's brother, Matthew lives with her.

Season 1 Episode Guide



Episode 1: Pilot
Christine encounters two 'meanie moms' at Ritchie's new private school who feel they're better than her because she has to work for a living. Meanwhile, she discovers her ex-husband, Richard, is dating a younger woman who shares her name, and is agitated that 'New Christine' is so nice she can't bring herself to hate her.

Episode 2: Supertramp
Jealous that Richard and new Christine are having sex, Christine vows to get some for herself. When she finally meets someone, she doesn't realize his child goes to Ritchie's school and that the other mothers mock him.

Episode 3: Open Water
Christine demands Barb and Pete set up a blind date for her when she discovers they set up Richard with 'new' Christine. Meanwhile, Ritchie is hesitant to take swimming lessons.

Episode 4: One Toe Over the Line, Sweet Jesus
When Richard discovers Christine's on a fifth date with Burton, he tackily tries to ruin their goodnights. When, out of guilt, he invites them out to dinner with he and 'new' Christine, things don't get any better.

Episode 5: I'll Show You Mine
Though they've been out ten times, Christine still worries it's too early to introduce Ritchie to Burton. When Burton tries to move their relationship further, she panics.

Episode 6: The Other F Word
Wanting to expose Ritchie to diversity, Christine champions the admission of a black child to Westbridge, only to discover blacks can be prejudiced, too.

Episode 7: Long Day's Journey Into Stan
Though Christine declares she's excited to have some alone time after breaking up with Burton, an awkward solo dining experience makes her realize she misses him.

Episode 8: Teach Your Children Well
Taken aback at the thousands of dollars a typical Westbridge parent spends on their child's birthday parties, Christine throws an art-and-crafts party for Ritchie that has negative consequences for him when he goes back to school.

Episode 9: Ritchie Has Two Mommies
Christine is panicked at Richard's plan to introduce Ritchie to 'new' Christine, and gets a shock when she tags along to Westbridge's Parents' Night as well.

Episode 10: No Fault Divorce
When Christine and Richard's old marriage counselor comes to the gym, Christine starts to wonder exactly why they divorced. When Matthew uncovers their wedding video, Christine realizes their marriage had a lot of good times to go with the bad.

Episode 11: Exile on Lame Street

Fearful of what adult activity he may see there, Christine is hesitant to allow Richard and 'new' Christine to take Ritchie to a Rolling Stones concert.

Episode 12: Some of my Best Friends Are Portuguese
Christine thinks she's finally met another mother just like her at Ritchie's school. When she finds out what she actually does for a living, it leads to yet another humiliation for Christine in front of the 'meanie moms.'

Episode 13: A Fair to Remember (1)
When Christine hears Marly and Lindsay gossiping about the new cute father at Westbridge, she discovers it's a man from her past who, like Richard, has taken up with another woman named Christine.

Episode 1: The Passion of the Christine (2)
When Richard's frequent presence at Christine's house confuses Ritchie into to thinking they've reconciled, Richard wonders if they should.

Episode 2: The Answer is Maybe (1)
Following her learning that Richard's willingness to embrace life is responsible for his success with women, Christine goes against form and accepts a date from a handsome stranger.

Episode 3: Come to Papa Jeff (2)
Christine is stunned to find out the man she's seeing, New Christine's father, is also a grandfather.

Episode 4: Oh God, Yes
Ritchie goes to church with Richard and new Christine without consulting his mother first, leaving old Christine to explain and explore her aversion to organized religion.

Episode 5: Separation Anxiety
Barb moves in with Christine after deciding to divorce her husband. This forces Matthew into Ritchie's room, where he discovers his nephew has some odd habits.

Episode 6: The Champ
When she's again faced with 'Sad Dad' Stan, Christine once again finds it impossible to resist him and finally reveals why to Richard. Meanwhile, Matthew is stuck with a date who just won't leave.

Episode 7: Playdate with Destiny
When Richie wins a playdate with Christine's latest crush—his teacher, Mr. Harris—a pre-planned trip with Richard forces Christine to confront her crush head-on.

Episode 8: Women 'N Tuition
Christine makes sacrifices so she can pay for Ritchie's school tuition and enters into an arrangement with Barb that will help. Matthew decides he needs to make more of himself.

Episode 9: Mission: Impossible
After Ritchie begins showing more interest in spending time with Richard and then does a bad job on his school homework project, Christine contemplates bailing Ritchie out in an attempt to win him over again.

Episode 10: What About Barb?
Christine has difficulty adjusting to Barb now being her business partner. With his schooling soon to interfere, Matthew helps find a new nanny for Ritchie.

Episode 11: Crash
Christine's Prius and Marly's SUV back into each other. While she's upset at Marly's continued superior attitude over the situation, she's more upset at there only being an SUV available at the rental agency.

Episode 12: Ritchie Scores
Richard wants Ritchie to learn the value of competition and male bonding, and signs him up for soccer. Christine disagrees, but then has her own competitive urges when fighting with Richard for attention from Mr. Harris.

Episode 13: Endless Shrimp, Endless Night
Christine can't help but meddle in Matthew's love life when she meets his ex-girlfriend at a party. Meanwhile, Richard hopes to get Ritchie enthused about his contracting job.

Episode 14: Let Him Eat Cake
Jealous that New Christine benefits from all the positive qualities she instilled in Richard during their marriage, Christine spites her by revealing to Richard that she gave New Christine the idea for the birthday gift she gave him.

Episode 15: Sleepless in Mar Vista
Christine finds out her new sleep medication caused her to embarrass herself over the phone.

Christine finds out Richard's brother is gay, but not until after sleeping with him.

Episode 17: Strange Bedfellows
Christine vows to become more aware of politics when Richard scolds her about her indifference towards an upcoming election setting a bad example for Ritchie.

Episode 18: The Real Thing
Trying to send an e-mail to Barb about Mr. Harris, Christine ends up sending it to all the parents from school, nearly costing him his job.

Episode 19: Faith Off
Christine can't resist meddling when Lindsay hires Richard to remodel her bathroom, while Matthew enjoys his first trip to Home Depot. Meanwhile, Christine and Richard debate on who should give Ritchie the 'birds and the bees' talk.

Episode 20: My Big Fat Sober Wedding
The stresses of going to a wedding with Richard and Barb are multiplied by Christine's agreeing to be designated driver, depriving her of some much-needed alcohol.

Episode 21: Friends
On their way to Ritchie's desert camping trip, Christine, Richard, Matthew, and Barb stay at a seedy motel and get on each others' nerves.

Christine is devastated that Ritchie no longer tells her he loves her, so she asks Richard to have a baby with her so she can have a new child to love her like Ritchie used to. Matthew tries to overcome a troubling obsession with saying, "I love you."

Christine and Barb go on a casual, non-relationship-seeking double date with two guys they meet at a video store. Matthew helps Richard find chairs for his wedding reception.

Richard joins Christine and her new boyfriend, Patrick, on a dinner date. Matthew is disturbed by a story recounted by Barb on his therapist couch.

Episode 8: Self-Esteem Tempura
When a talent scout recruits Ritchie to audition for a commercial after seeing his standout performance in the school play, Christine is thrilled, but Richard refuses to allow it.

Episode 9: Rage Against the Christine
Christine thinks she has the perfect boyfriend, until he has a 'bizarre' reaction to her competitiveness after losing to her at tennis.

Episode 10: Guess Who's Not Coming To Dinner
Over a Thanksgiving visit, the discovery of a shared secret gives Christine a way to negate one of her mother's criticisms.

The parent company of Christine and Barb's gym franchise comes for an inspection and discovers that they have broken a contractual clause, risking the entire business. New Christine wants Richard to get a vasectomy.

After choosing to give up their gym rather than support discrimination of gays, Christine and Barb decide to turn their building into a day spa.

Episode 13: Notes on a 7th Grade Scandal
While trying to make a good impression at Ritchie's Junior High Parents Orientation, Christine realizes that one of the fathers there wronged her in junior high. Barb shows New Christine how to be more assertive.

Episode 14: What Happens In Vegas Is Disgusting In Vegas
When Christine and Barb throw New Christine a spur-of-the-moment bachelorette party in Vegas, they discover a wild side of her that is the polar opposite of her usual up-tight personality. Meanwhile, Richard catches grief from his brother over naming Matthew his best man.

Episode 15: Reckless Abandonment
Christine tries to prove to everyone and herself that she is capable of being independent after Matthew and Barb both decide to move out of the house and Ritchie leaves for a sleep-away science camp.

Episode 16: Honey, I Ran Over the Kid
After Ritchie hurts himself at a skateboarding party, Christine accuses Richard of bad parenting, and they begin competing to prove each other wrong. Matthew gets involved in a rebound relationship.

Episode 17: Too Close for Christine
When scatterbrain mother Francie, a parent at Ritchie's school, comes to Christine for guidance, she begins to consider Christine as her 'rock', much to Christine's flattery. But Christine soon tires of the responsibility. Meanwhile, Matthew quickly regrets taking New Christine up on her offer to use the guestroom when he discovers Richard lives under her hyper-anal thumb.

Episode 18: A Change of Heart/Pants
When Christine and Richard help Marly and Lindsay through their labors, it brings up memories of Ritchie's birth—and a rekindling of romantic feelings.

Episode 19: Hair
After Christine's accused of being responsible for an outbreak of lice at Westbridge, Christine decides to pull out Ritchie and send him to a public school, which turns out to be harder than she thought it would be.

Episode 20: He Ain't Heavy
Christine tries to help Matthew lose weight, but is unsuccessful and soon finds out that she can't shed her extra pounds, either. Richard regrets asking Ritchie to tell him if he's bothered by anything.

Episode 21: The Old Maid of Honor
Hoping to show she's fine with Richard and New Christine's wedding, Christine feigns being in love with Todd Watski-a ruse that proves difficult to pull off when he acts boorishly at the rehearsal dinner. Meanwhile, Matthew has an encounter with New Christine's half-sister, Amy.

Episode 22: Love: A Cautionary Tale
Christine finds out a secret about Jeff after they rekindle feelings for each other at Richard and New Christine's wedding. Matthew continues to date Amy, and Barb meets a possible love interest.

Richard discovers a suspicious mole on Christine's chest, and she panics when she can't immediately see a doctor. Meanwhile, Richard decides that it would be best if he moved back in with New Christine, but he has to engage her in a battle of wills if he's to make it happen.

Episode 4: For Love or Money
When Barb—planning to marry Richard to stay in the country—says she's hiring a lawyer to handle her and Christine's divorce, Christine is taken aback and hires an aggressive divorce lawyer who demands that Christine gets alimony. Matthew deals with Marly's and Lindsay's insecurities.

Episode 5: Dr. Little Man
Christine starts seeing a therapist who's Matthew's mentor, but they are both confused on whether they want to have a professional or romantic relationship. Richard and New Christine have trouble adapting to living under the same roof.

Episode 6: The Curious Case of Britney B.
When Ritchie is asked to a dance by the most popular girl in school, Christine revels in the newfound popularity she thinks this bestows on her. Meanwhile, Matthew and Richard find an apartment that they want to rent together, but have to find a way to oust an elderly rent scofflaw before they can move in.

Episode 7: Nuts
Max tells Christine that she quits things at the tiniest obstacle and tries to get her to stick to what she's started. Matthew sets boundaries in his and Richard's apartment.

Episode 8: Love Means Never Having To Say You're Crazy
After Richard sets her up with Tom once again, Christine ponders having an actual adult relationship with him. Meanwhile, she sets up Richard with a beautiful and passionate woman that works out at her gym.

Episode 9: I Love Woo, I Hate Who
Barb fears that Dave is going to propose to her and asks Christine to join them on their next date. Meanwhile, Richard realizes that he will have to woo New Christine if he wants to get her back.

Episode 10: Old Christine Meets Young Frankenstein
Discovering Ritchie has become a bully at Westridge, Christine decides to lead by example and apologize to a woman she called "Frankenstein" during junior high. Meanwhile, Facebook leads to a reconnection between Matthew and Lucy.

Episode 11: It's Beginning to Stink a Lot Like Christmas
Christine and Matthew reluctantly attend the Christmas block party, where she learns the neighborhood is full of secrets and he questions why he ever broke up with Lucy. New Christine subjects Richard and Ritchie to her family's made-up Kinderclausen celebration.  

Episode 12: A Whale of a Tale
Christine tells Max that she's in love with him, but his reaction is not quite what she is expecting. Richard prods Matthew to pursue a cute girl's advances.

Episode 13: Truth or Dare
When Mr. Harris re-establishes contact with Christine, Max urges her to go out with him, but quickly regrets his decision—especially when he sees what Mr. Harris looks like.

Episode 14: A Family Unfair
Christine asks Richard to have a baby with her after becoming envious of Richard and New Christine's happiness in planning for theirs.

Episode 15: Sweet Charity
When the gym suddenly begins to become profitable, Christine and Barb find themselves with a small windfall, but vastly different ideas on how to spend their shares. Meanwhile, Matthew suspects Richard may be having an affair.

Episode 16: Subway, Somehow
In an attempt to teach Ritchie's class some street smarts, Christine encourages Principal Nunley to have them take the subway on a field trip, but she ends up being stranded at the station and has her own street smarts put to the test. Meanwhile, Barb sends a racy text message, meant for someone else, to Richard.

Episode 17: Up In The Airport
Christine realizes that Ritchie has never been on a real family vacation, so she plans a trip to Florida, with disastrous results.

Episode 18: Revenge Makeover
Richard is secretly planning an impromptu wedding for him and New Christine, so to help him out, Christine drags a very cranky and pregnant New Christine to a salon while he puts the plan together. Meanwhile, Barb tries to take her citizenship test.

Episode 19: I Love What You Do For Me
When Christine is told that her five-year car lease is up, she realizes that her life hasn't evolved during that time the way she'd hoped and decides to make some major life changes, with a little help from her boyfriend, Max. Meanwhile, Matthew seeks a roommate to replace Richard.

Episode 20: Scream
Christine mistakes a good looking cop for a stripper, who alerts her that there is a prowler in the neighborhood. In order to feel more secure, Christine asks Matthew to stay over. Later on, New Christine goes into labor; unfortunately for Old Christine, it happens to take place on her birthday!

Episode 21: Get Smarter
Christine has Matthew and Barb throw her a "surprise" engagement party so she can meet Max's friends, but she feels intellectually inferior to one guest in particular, and it leads her to make a surprising decision.
