Episode 11 Discussion

So what did you think about the episode? With Josh dead, does this open the way for Mick & Beth or will Beth hold a grudge against Mick for not "saving" Josh?

Does Coraline really have a cure and if so is it beyond what Mick is willing to do? The revelation about a child's blood and the blood being the same rare type as Beth's brings in a whole lot of speculation.

Discuss!

I think Beth will hold a grudge against Mick but not for long  maybe just one episode. I liked the part where he turns into a vampire to scare the suspect into telling where the member of the MS-13 gang is while two cops were watching.
Author: shinny    Time: 1-13-2008 05:22

Wow, I loved this episode. I agree with Torres, she won't hold it for long. She is hurting now, but once she realises what she was asking, she'll probably apologise to him.

Yes, the whole child blood thing and also the perfect blood for a vampire is their own blood type....some interesting facts there.
Author: gabsimom    Time: 1-13-2008 07:25

I think They will be friendly but deep down for at least the rest of the season she will feel resentment. Gotta keep the suspense up. The child blood was interesting. And I liked that he actually fed on someone and didn't feel guilty about it. It was about time.
Author: casper27    Time: 1-13-2008 09:21

Great episode cant believe how much of a pig Beth is been. Mick is so desperate for her yet cant have it. I hope they leave the romance thing for a while now.
I think the whole blood thing may play out more during the series, looks as if they might have to find a "pure" source. I agree with shinny about him mentioning about their own blood type been the best and a very rare blood type may hold the key.

Well, I kinda liked Josh but we'll see how this proceeds. I hope they're not rushing for any love thing here- I think Beth needs some time on her own to sort out things.
Author: shinny    Time: 1-16-2008 11:58     Subject: Reply 9#9 Teachergirl's post

Yeh, I reckon they'll need to drag it out a little bit longer and dangle the carrot in front of us. I kinda like their relationship now though, getting to know each other.
Author: Teachergirl    Time: 1-16-2008 12:02

I was suprised they let Beth find out about Micks vampire-ness so early in the season- they have to slow down a bit now or there'll never be anything left for future seasons!

Yeh exactly, I hate shows that go so far and then pull back massively and it's a game of will they won't they. I prefer the gradual approach
Author: Teachergirl    Time: 1-16-2008 12:11     Subject: Reply 12#12 shinny's post

They rushed into things- I was wondering if their seasons are like five episodes. With all those things aready said and done so early into the whole thing- I wonder if they were desperately trying to impress viewers. I personally would have preferred a slower pace- with Coraline and Josh and the Beth/Mick relationship and the Cure........ it is all a bit too much at once. Every topic makes for a good storyline but when they all happen together it is a bit too much of a good thing.

Wow this was wicked episode and mick got a little cocky when he tried knock the guys off, but he had a choice he could of turned Josh but guess he didn't want to risk it in case.

What i find annoying was mick was there when Josh got kidnapped he didn't notice two guys approaching him-he was to blame for Josh death however he did his best stop Josh from bleeding. he did his best but he could of prevented just been more observant

Even beth want mick to turn him but it was right decision he didn't-if it had been beth he probably would but because he never liked Josh.

I loved this episode. It had so much going on with it. It was lovely to see Mick enjoying being human again. Stuffing his face with a hot-dog and then having a picnic with Beth on the beach. I sensed during the whole episode, however, that they were always leading up to Mick not being able to take as much care of Beth now that he is human. As soon as he was pitted against a vampire, everything changed.

I really liked how Josef made him see this. As much as Josef can be selfish, he's a good friend to Mick. I have to admit that I did shed a tear when I saw Mick shed one after Josef turned him....

I think Beth is right though. The hold back on their relationship is Mick being afraid to lose Beth when she gets old, but at least he could have some happiness now.

And, Eric Winter has joined the show as asst district attorney Benjamin Talbot. Looking forward to seeing more of him......

I also loved this episode. It was funny and nice to see Mick enjoy our daily comforts so much. I like how his experience actually helped him to feel better about being a vampire. I actually did not predict the ending; when he was turned back, I was like "What?! Not fair!"   Too bad he didn't get to enjoying human life more and eat a Krispy Kreme doughnut. OMG, that other vampire was so scary. That actor always freaks me out in his movies and so (for me), his vampire portrayal was very believable. It was so weird that I knew that Maureen was going to die but I have no idea how (maybe I accidentally came across it or something ). It was so nice to see Josef helping Mick and caring enough to apologize before turning him back to a vampire. He cracked me so much in this episode: "Hey, its my two favorite humans!"

Oops, I didn't see the rating thing.

The score is mostly to do with the walking along the beach shirt undone shot.......

Loved see the actor who plays Mick do a great job of playing him mortal, it was more than just the scoffing of food and bleeding that convinced me, IMO he did a great joob to change his presence on screen to a more vunerable one .
I too like joseph, he has much to give as a character (as this episode illistrates perfectly) - although I have a sneaking suspision that in later episodes the writers will spice up a 'judas' type storyline........after all its the people you love & trust the most  that have the capability of hurting you worse than anyone.

Darn you, shinny! You've got me hooked on this show now... Great episode (next week's looks pretty cool too)... I think I agree with all of you on the episode elements...just not the beach scene...because I have an interest in girls ... Anyways, I feel bad for Mick because he had to make a choice and I know how aggravating it can be when a relationship is there, but it's not there...know what I'm saying? What I liked most about the episode was that they didn't know which of the two stories caused Maureen's death... However, when they got the suspect narrowed down, I felt disappointed in the hostage situation...I'm more for how they get to the scene and then rescuing them... When Mick just showed up, it was BANG BANG BANG and then everybody came together and sang "Let It Be" Not that I have anything against the song...I love the Beatles! But anyways, now I've got to go back and watch the other episodes... shinny, I have a good feeling that if you work hard enough, you can become the mod for Moonlight... I have faith in you!

It's been awhile since I watched Moonlight.  But this episode is going to get me back into watching it again.  I love Mick and feel so sorry for him.  He wanted to be human again so bad but he gave it up for Beth.  Some of the scenes were really funny though,  especially when he is trying to catch the bad guys and he realizes that he doesn't have his vampire abilities anymore.  It really was a great episode.
I give it a 8/9 rating.

I think the episode had a lot  of emotion.  Even though it was obvious that he would have to turn back into a vampire, I think they showed the depth of his love by showing how much he loved being human and what a big sacrifice he was willing to make for Beth.  It was also very touching how Josef, even though he always berated Mick for wanting to be human, truly felt happy for him that he was human again and didn't want to take it away from him.  Before biting him he said "forgive me" and you saw he wasn't as heartless and unemotional as we were led to believe.  In the end he was a true friend.

9/10 for the episode as a whole. I’d give it full points, but it wasn’t perfect (what show is really…)

For being in limbo so long, they really came back with a bang; rather than losing momentum, they actually seem to gain it. I would have liked to know what happened with the Coraline situation. I know we see the results with Mick being human again, otherwise she’s an absolute non-entity. I actually felt kind of sorry for her at the end of the last episode.
I think my biggest complaint about the end was that it felt too soon. If anything was going to motivate him to give up his humanity, I wouldn’t have accepted anything less than saving Beth, but I had hoped to see him enjoy his humanity more. All the same, it worked for me. I mean, let’s face it, the show’s about a Mick the vampire.
So many wonderful things to say about this episode, really, and so much homework to get back to
OK, I just couldn't resist adding more. I thought the kiss was both predictable but not and actually expected Mick to let her walk away and then brood a bit more. It's highly unusual for a show to let the lead characters admit their feelings so soon, especially when there's angst about it working. The fact that Mick readily admits his feelings for Beth so soon and the fact that he does it before becoming a vampire again actually make the kiss less predictable for me. As a human he no longer had the relationship hazards that he always brooded over, but he kisses her after becoming a vampire again.

I agree. I was a little surprised that he turned back to a vampire so quickly. I thought it was inevitable, but like you, I thought we'd see him being a human a bit longer.

It got me thinking though. It's very like when Superman gave up his powers so he could be normal with Lois. He realised pretty quickly that the thing he wanted to change was the very thing that allowed him protect the person he loved. I guess for Mick it was the same and unfortunately for him, and perhaps this was more realistic, it came sooner rather than later.

Roll on the next episode. Promo looks great !

Good Episode to return with even tho slightly predictable that Mick would turn back, Not sure if i like the will they wont they idea with him n beth gettin together, could drag out too much but i guess we'll have to wait n see.

I haven't got much to say that hasn't already been said. I hated that Mick turned back and it was so sad when he realised what he was losing but at the same time knowing that he had to save Beth.
Points are high for me for this show generally as I think it's great but I don't know what I'd rate this episode. I think there have been better ones in terms of storyline but this has to be the most emotional one of the series.
I knew after the previous episode that he couldn't be human for long due to the nature of the show and it was pretty obvious he'd turn back to save beth - I guess that once you've been a vampire it's hard to be human and vulnerable again and not be able to help people in the same way anymore. It's been done before with Angel!

I guess because of that I'll go 8/10.

(PS Love the 'beach shot' but am not going to let that sway me to giving a higher rating ..........maybe it should be 81/2 /10! )

i hope people don't mind me using this discussion topic i must say this was another brillant episode i honestly don't know where to start Beth quit buzzwire so she going work with mick on his cases?, my favourite bit of the episode was at a the start that fancying driving was brillant i was really enjoying it and two kids vamps might be a good addition to the show but i suspect one-off but Beth learning mick would be in danger if she remain with buzzwire and what she willing to do to protect mick suggest that this might become more complicated than it already is. New guy case against mick st john

I'll rate this one 9 and a half out of 10.

After 3 months Moonlight def returned with a bang, there were so many cute moments in this ep. I actually thought they were gonna let Mick be human for a couple more eps, I'm glad they didn't. I loved the part where Jo turned Mick bac it was awesome mostly cuz I didn't expect it. The new cop, I just know, is going to get on my nerves. I'm hoping Mick get's Beth soon but I know it's gonna get messy be4 that happens with the cop being rumored to be interested in Beth and all.

Is anyone else thinking that maybe down the moonlight line Mick will turn Beth into a vampire???? Does any1 want this to happen??? Cuz personally I wouldn't mind.

This was a very emotional episode for Mick. The chance that he might have a "family" made him realise how much he wanted one. Vamps can't have kids, but since Mick became human again before turning back to a Vamp, I suppose there is a chance.

I thought that bit was funny too Bala. I wish we could see more of Josef and Mick, those two have great on screen presence together. I'd imagine they get on really well in real life, it just comes across.

Ben is growing on me too and now that Beth is working for him, we're going to see a lot more.

I agree; it was really sad to see that he didn't have a family after all. I think that he was able to break the wall down so easily because the guy didn't repave the wall after putting the child behind it and he had the intention of taking him out of there (thus, he would have to be able to get behind it again) if he "overcame his fear". I also LOVE Mick and Josef together...they crack me up. Josef must have really been into the conversation to not be able to sense when Beth entered the room.

I just saw the season finale promo and hopefully, they are trying to play with our minds (as all promos do). I wonder what happened to Coraline. Maybe the won't let us know until next season.

Yeh, I was wondering about Coraline too. She just sort of disappeared into the back ground. I'd guess that IF (fingers crossed) there is a Season 2 we are going to see more of her

This was a great ending to Season 1. I loved how they all worked together to keep their secret. Jackson ending his life to be with the one he loved made Mick realise that the time he has with Beth now is precious.

I wonder who gave the list to Ben? Was it their way of proving that they take care of business themselves? I mean Jackson & Emma's names were crossed off the list.

Lets hope one of the other networks see what we see and pick this up for Season 2 !!
