So I noticed that some people have medals and whatever, can someone point me to how to get those? As well as when you change status from a "newbie" to something else? I'm guessing it's based on # of posts.

This was posted in a previous thread and explains things fully.

Our forum is applying Discuz! forum which has three ranking systems, namely posts , points and online time.

The first system can define members into beginner (less than 50 posts), poster (50-300), cool poster (300-1000), writer (1000-3000), excellent writer (over 3000).

The second system can define members into Newbie-one star (below 50 points), Member-two stars (50-200 points), Conqueror-three stars (200-500) and so on. Never mind your rank. If you applied for converting forum points into VIP points, your forum points would be reset.

The third system can award members more rank stars, alike the second system. But stars acquired from this way will be kept permanently.

As for moderators that status can only be assigned by the administrators, and the role is usually given to those they see fit to fulfill the role and who've showed prior interest as well as those being recommended by other mods. Mind you that not everyone interested would be chosen to be a moderator or we'll end up with a forum where everyone is moderating and have nothing to moderate but other moderators, (that reminds me of a while ago where most participants in the forum were mods). But I'm sure they will be taken into consideration.
**NOTE: CURRENTLY NO NEW MODERATORS ARE BEING ADDED**

The medals are a way to reward those people who contribute well to the site. The kind of medal you receive will depend on your status and contribution.

For great contributors:
Five-star General
Admiral
Lieutenant General
Major General
For mods and super mods:
Colonel
Commander
Major

For members:
Captain
Lieutenant
Second Lieutenant

are there any special benefits that come with these medals?
Author: 01torres    Time: 11-13-2007 11:50

None at all, just the proud feeling you get after recieving it and the increased respect from other members.

Quick question, when you say contribution, do you mean donations?
Author: trulee    Time: 1-24-2008 13:29     Subject: Reply 14#14 shinny's post

No, its more to do with your activity on the forum. How often you post and the contribution you make on the forum as a member etc...

1. Play games/quizzes 2. Make meanful posts, 3. Point other users in the right direction when they ask a question are some of the different ways to earn points
Author: jenniferrylie    Time: 2-10-2008 19:06     Subject: vip member

ok im still unsure about optaining vip member status permantly. how many posts do i have to make to get to become a vip member permantly or how many points do i need to convert.
Author: gabsimom    Time: 2-10-2008 19:10     Subject: Reply 24#24 jenniferrylie's post

You only need 10 points to get a VIP card. The amount of posts does not matter it is the quality of the post that gets awarded points. The easiest way to get points fast is to play games and quizzes and actively participate in discussions.
Author: waterlilybarb    Time: 2-11-2008 10:35     Subject: Reply 24#24 jenniferrylie's post

Also, you have to continue to top up your points to be able to watch VIP shows. There are a couple of quizzes right now based on free shows where you can earn some points. Check out the Game Board and look for the Everwood and Moonlight quizzes. There's also a game in the Smallville forum that doesn't require you to have seen an episode.
Author: bala    Time: 2-11-2008 10:40     Subject: Reply 26#26 waterlilybarb's post

There are currently 2 quizes which are in free zone- my Everwood quiz and moonlight quiz.

I curious to know what the Treasure part is for? Is there any reason for this or how many G's you have?

See this thread for an explanation of treasure. It's another way to reward our valued members.
Author: tdcskp    Time: 2-17-2008 08:05

I just joined this morning and have a question: when I checked out the point conversion board, I see that some people ask to have only part of their points converted to VIP. Why is that and what do they use the remainder of their points on? (P.S.- I'm reading all info I can first before I try to watch a show- can't wait!)
Author: bala    Time: 2-17-2008 08:31     Subject: Reply 30#30 tdcskp's post

Well some of us too many point eg i have over 1000 points-i don't really need all of that so i only convert 50-100. Rest point are there when i need it. basically more points you have on forum you can increase your member rank-as you can see i'm a King. That's the 4 rank. Newbie -0- 50 points Member-50-500points Conquer-500-1000 points King 1000-3000 points Fourm Legend 3000 + points if there any other question let me know
Author: tdcskp    Time: 2-17-2008 20:56     Subject: Reply 31#31 bala's post

Hey, thanks. I'm new to point systems, credit, etc., so any help is appreciated. It all makes sense now- some points for rank, some for VIP. I read a lot so I don't have to ask y'all every little thing, but sometimes I need someone to cut to the chase like you did. Thanks again.

Hey guys, just wondering if the medal awarding has fallen by the way side? Maybe I've missed it, but it seems like a long while since any were awarded?? I think that Nye & Goaliesbear contribute well to this site and should be awarded a medal to reflect this, imo!!
Author: shinny    Time: 4-5-2008 06:08     Subject: Reply 39#39 bala's post

Aha, I see. I suppose it was like a novelty thing that's sort of fallen by the way side so.
Author: goaliesbear    Time: 4-5-2008 13:31     Subject: Reply 38#38 shinny's post

Thanks for thinking of me Shinny, that's very sweet...I don't really need anything like that though, as I probably won't be around much longer. Summer's pretty much here in Texas and I have lots of outdoor work to do. Once I get enough points for the few shows I want to watch, you probably won't see me around much.

And bala, maybe next time you should let a mod answer a question like that, since you aren't one <img src=

And it is precisely the attitude here in these last few posts, that keeps him from becoming one as well. -sigh- It really is disappointing to see, as I was backing him on this last petition.

Way to Go on Promotion ! Any helpful hints for newbie on the best ,and quickest way of getting VIP points without paying for them. Thanks in advance, Barbara
Author: gabsimom    Time: 9-6-2008 18:07

Barbara the best way to get points is to check out the game zone. The most mod run games give out points. Also check out some of your favorite shows forums some mods have hidden point opportunities for fans of the shows. I know I do in Stargate.
Author: stone    Time: 9-7-2008 07:08

the more you post here , the more points you got , and then your status would be lifted automatically

unless you convert them into vip point your status does decrease

Author: Teachergirl    Time: 10-10-2008 11:56

Thanks! Well, I am glad I have this place to talk about the shows- most of my friends have a different taste or if they do watch the show they watch the German version and they are a season behind so before I blurt any spoilers to them I just not talk about my shows. And here it is great to have people who like the same shows and it is all in one place.
Author: serena75    Time: 10-10-2008 12:24     Subject: Reply 55#55 Teachergirl's post

I feel the same way. I can't wait for the shows to get here, so I watch online. And have no one to talk to about them.
Author: Teachergirl    Time: 10-12-2008 03:46

And one thing I so love about watching online? I can decide when to watch them and there are no ads making a 45 minutes episode in fact over one hour long!!!!!!!!!
