The Bridge (US) Premieres on FX on July 10, 2013



Set on the border between El Paso and Juarez, The Bridge centers on two detectives, one from the United States and one from Mexico, who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border. Executive Producers Meredith Stiehm (Homeland) and novelist and television writer/producer Elwood Reid adapted The Bridge for American television from the international hit series Bron, which was set on the border of Denmark and Sweden.

In The Bridge, Demián Bichir stars in the role of “Marco Ruiz,” a homicide investigator for the state of Chihuahua, Mexico living in Ciudad Juárez. A family man, Marco is one of the last good men in a corrupt and apathetic police force that is outgunned by the powerful drug cartels.  He's sharp, charming, and observant and painfully aware that his city is in a state of chaos. When a body is dumped on the bridge that spans the El Paso-Ciudad Juárez border, Ruiz is forced to work with his American counterpart, “Detective Sonya Cross.”

Diane Kruger stars as “Detective Sonya Cross,” a dogged cop who has an undiagnosed disorder that falls on the autism spectrum.  Cross is shockingly candid and calls the world as she sees it, which can be off-putting to her colleagues, but she is also extremely effective at her job.

Ted Levine plays “Lieutenant Hank Wade,” a member of Detective Cross’s team at the El Paso Police Department who is a veteran cop with a weathered, cowboy swagger. He is not surprised by anything that human beings will do to one another, but he's utterly baffled by the office coffeemaker. Hank knows that Sonya communication skills are challenged, and repeatedly has to advise her how to work more diplomatically with others. Annabeth Gish plays “Charlotte Millwright,” a wealthy ranch wife suddenly widowed when her older husband Karl suffers a massive heart attack while on the Mexican side of the border.  A sheltered woman with a ranch to run, Charlotte quickly learns that her late husband has many shocking secrets. Thomas M. Wright plays “Steven Linder,” a wolf of a man who is no stranger to the dark and jumbled chaos of Juárez.
Matthew Lillard plays “Daniel Frye,” a cocky reporter with the El Paso Times whose hard partying ways have taken a toll on his once promising journalism career.

Good start to the series with one hell of message with the fake bomb . Sonya is one hell of workaholic with no social skills while Marco is more laid back this is going to be interesting partnership .

The serial killer operating on both sides of the border makes for a nice change and the fact the bodies were also from both sides of the border was an interesting twist but sad to think it was only the death of a white woman the investigation started, Sonya so called bed side manner is about the worst I've seen

I cant believe Sonya just blurted out I cant have sex at work and the shooting in the street was insane, finding the girl on-line tied up in the dessert heat was a surprise but that would be a horrible way to die

The time running out for Maria as the broadcast continues was disturbing but who supplied the ransom money was an interesting twist but as the police investigation is effecting his business you can understand why, Sonya did a great job in figuring out where she was

The fact that Sonya return Carlos wallet in front of his wife was priceless and she had no clue why he got thrown out of his house by his wife was amusing until Carlos had to help her connect the dots. Who would thought that teenage runaway would end up in Mexico and actually witness the person the cops are after.

Marco's wallet falling out of his trouser when he took them off was unfortunate and you can understand why his wife thought the worst after Sonya had just returned it but offering her couch after his wife kicked him out I thought was a bad idea

Sonya pursuing David Tate despite Marco's insistence that he's a dead FBI agent was interesting as Marco's went to the funeral but having an affair with his wife before she died was a surprise

Well now things are about to get messy the love triangle and connection to Marco and his wife was disturbing but props for being able to kill the guy and return to the date like nothing happens.

She did a great job holding it for as long as she did until Marco came but i bet she will have second thoughts on trying to cheat on Marco after what happened to her. I wonder if he will tell her that it was because of him ?

I'm not surprised Sonya asked Steven to stand back while she checked the trailer considering he was a person of interest and the way she stuck by Marco was nice considering how hard he tried to push her away but telling him to make his bed was amusing and I wished someone had blown David's grin all over the side-walk

I don't know how i feel about this series this started out so promising but than it turned into boring series. Well i am surprised when reporter saw that much cash wouldn't you be tempted to take some of it?. Marco going for revenge was predictable but Sonya is really trying to stop Marco from going of the edge.

Season 1

Overall, it was a decent season, but nothing that had my heart racing. Although, I have never seen the original Swedish version Broen/Bron, I think the British/French version The Tunnel was much better than the Bridge .

This show was pretty much what you would except from a show dealing with Mexican/Texan issues....drugs and border issues

It's sad to see a man who was once incorruptible (Marco) become someone he hates just to avenge his son.

She didn't kill him because in the end she saw him as a little boy, whereas, Kyle pretended to be a man (wanted to see her naked, touch etc), so she killed him like a man.

Who is the Special Prosecutor kidding...he'll protect Eva...he can't even protect himself. I knew Marco would not go through with it....his not a killer. Plus, he'll be selling his soul to Fausto.

Sonya is beyond stupid & crazy . Why did she give that guy a key?  I don't trust Jack Dobbs at all.

Hopefully Sonya can keep her mouth shut for Marco. I was hoping that the Special Prosecutor would last....but I'm not surprised that he didn't.

I know that Sonya has this disability (Asperger syndrome), but, she's still dumb as f...

It was nice to see Eva take matters into her own hands. But, from my recollection they are jumping the gun. In season 1 they originally had her hiding from her boyfriend (whose dead now) who used to work for Fausto. All, of a sudden in season 2 she was gang raped by a bunch of cops. WoW!!!

Instead of twisting Eva's storyline they should have continued the story into the missing Juarez women....hell, Adriana's sister has only been mentioned twice. She's not investigating the story, her family has disappeared.

I love Hank and Sonya's relationship....she's the daughter he never had.

I love to see people defending themselves from attackers...especially women. Hopefully Lucy survives.

This was a very good episode. Loved every second of it. The season is finally hitting up after that boring first half. Who will Eleanor side with now that the military has a father and not Fasuto.
