Elementary Premiered on CBS on September 27, 2012
ELEMENTARY stars Jonny Lee Miller as detective Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson in a modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPD's most impossible cases. Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, eccentric Sherlock escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare - a sober companion, Dr. Watson. A successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago, Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. However, the restless Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients. He informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him and he's devised his own post-rehab regimen - resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City. Watson has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. But Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator. Sherlock's police contact, Capt. Tobias "Toby" Gregson (Aidan Quinn), knows from previous experience working with Scotland Yard that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, and welcomes him as part of the team. With the mischievous Sherlock Holmes now running free in New York solving crimes, it's simple deduction that he's going to need someone to keep him grounded, and it's elementary that it's a job for Watson.

Ok i really wanted to hate this series but for some reason this show reminds me of The Mentalist for some reason the only difference different actors but the UK one is better because better writing and mystery. It wasn't a bad episode but i did find it amusing how he managed to sneak into her apartment to take the batteries out of her alarm clocks. The case was ok it wasn't a complicated case. This has potential but my opinion is that it's quite similar to the mentalist. Author: codebreaker Time: 9-17-2012 04:53 Subject: 1x01 Pilot
The husband not knowing about the safe room was bizarre but him being the killer would of been to easy and Sherlock might of been a jerk interviewing the other victim but she was obviously not telling the whole truth, going to the opera to get Joan was amusing and her solving the case was great Author: bala Time: 10-19-2012 05:53 Subject: Child Predator

Well yes that was clever but you would think that his father being in prison would give him second thoughts about committing the crimes ?. He saw what it's like in jail since he voluntary.

Nice return, Sherlock going home, even for 1 episode was cool, and seeing 2 literary characters, Lestrade and Mycroft and the mention of Langdale Pike (who was a columnist in the books) and of course the address of 221 B were the best parts of this episode. The murder investigation was trivial and really a small part of this episode.

Watson not knowing Mycroft was Sherlock's brother was interesting as he must of came up when she searched his history in the early episodes and there was no way Sherlock would only look for Gareth without trying to solve his case but his theory about the gun and how he got rid of it was impressive Author: sanggye Time: 10-1-2013 14:25 Subject: Reply 84#84 codebreaker's post
Nice catch with the history, though believe it or not it is possible to research one's history and not find any information about siblings, especially when it is not obvious.. Especially taking in account of not getting along, different schools, the time period (before social networking and public usage of the internet. and her history search might have not covered that.
I found the murder and solving to be blah, especially the deduction, all he saw was one item. It had been too long since the murder, there was no gun powder residual (even Holmes said that) I can list at least other 8 reasons, only one of which has to deal with a gun.
But this episode was good, not because of the murder, but for the interactions in it, and also the usage of some classic Holmes' elements with those interactions. Author: codebreaker Time: 10-5-2013 13:19 Subject: 2x02 Solve for X

There are million dollar awards to solve certain math problems, look up millennium prize problems. And it wasn't that a second person solved it, it was that using the other's work they were closer to solving it. Author: kellemanske Time: 10-9-2013 05:25 Subject: Reply 89#89 sanggye's post
I know about the millenium prizes, I believe that. I just don't think it is possible that the women solved it and then a few weeks later the other two were close to a solution. They hadn't seen her work. That's why I'm mad. If it's such a difficult math problem (which I believe) they shouldn't let 2 parties solve it seperately from eachother.
