About the Show:
Monroe is a drama series starring James Nesbitt. Monroe is a superb neurosurgeon as well as being a husband and a father. At work, he is able to perform cutting edge brain surgery whilst back at home he’s afraid to admit that his life is falling apart.

Episode 1:
After Alison Bannister is diagnosed with a brain tumour, Monroe has to help her deal with a frightening decision.

Episode 2:
Monroe finds it hard to deal with the fact that his wifehas left him and he throws himself into work even more. He attempts to find the courage to admit to his son the truth about why his marriage finished. Monroe and Jenny have to deal with a double shooting after a boy accidentally shoots his 12-year-old brother and then turns the gun on himself.

Episode 3:
The family home is up for sale and Nick refuses to answer his calls as Monroe continues throws himself into his work. After a former soldier is admitted to the hospital suffering with blood clot in his brain, Monroe decides to avoid surgery. He is pressurised though to change his mind.

Episode 4:
Monroe finds his personal life going further into chaos as he learns that a civilised divorce is much harder than he thought it would be. At work he attempts to convince Brendan Cormack to go ahead with an operation that will help control the epilepsy he suffers with. Brendan though thinks that God is speaking to him during his seizures and is reluctant to give up talking to him. Bremner's suspiciously good mood leaves Witney and Mullery feeling unnerved. Bremner is furious though when Monroe lets her know about the secret relationship she is in.

Episode 5:
After Sally Fortune collapses with an aneurysm in her brain, Monroe has to operate on a work colleague. His relationship with Bremner ends up reaching crisis point after she involves herself in Sally's treatment. Witney has to deal with a patient who refuses to have her surgery cancelled. Monroe attempts to help Anna create a new life.

Episode 6:
Monroe finally ends up confronting the painful truth about his past after a busy night shift at the hospital ends up taking a darker turn when a 13-year-old girl is admitted following being involved in a road accident. Monre knows that there is little hope that the girl will survive. Shepherd is getting over his break-up with Bremner, but finds it impossible to keep out of her way at the hospital.

Episode 1:
Paul Herd and his pregnant wife Julie turn to Monroe for help. Paul has been refused surgery for a dangerous neurological condition and Monroe has to decide whether to operate which puts him in conflict with Gillespie. Monroe has now moved into his new bachelor pad, while Shepherd and Bremner are now the proud parents to baby Louis.

Episode 2:
Gillespie has managed to deal Monroe a tough hand. He can only have one registrar on his team, but trainees Springer and Wilson are both capable of filling the position. He is going to have to find out who is the better surgeon. Shelley Maxwell is a teenage girl whose brain shunt, fitted when she was a newborn, is starting to malfunction. It’s time for her to have her brain’s third ventricle punctured by Monroe so that her cerebrospinal fluid can drain correctly. Lynn Monkford is resigned to the fact that she’ll die of cancer within a year. Monroe builds up a close relationship with her husband and can make that year worth living if he operates to reduce her brain tumour. Monroe is powerless to stop his son’s impending marriage.

Episode 3:
Shepherd and Witney reel from their liaison. Monroe ends up being without purpose following a catastrophic operation. Some grave complications mean Bremner's operation on a five-year-old refugee becomes a race against time.

Episode 4:
Monroe is being kept busy pursuing Lizzie and playing agony aunt to Shepherd. An awkward, violent woman shows up at St Matthew’s with a deadly cerebral aneurysm. The neurosurgeon turns to Bremner for help to save her life.

Episode 5:
Monroe and Bremner are involved attempting parallel miracles as they attempt to cure the epilepsy of a middle-aged woman and are involved in the heart transplant of a teenage girl.

Episode 6:
Nick’s stag party ends up being ruined after a really bad traffic accident means the whole team is needed at the hospital. With the hospital's facilities stretched to breaking point, Bremner and Shepherd come to a crossroads in their relationship.
