This brand new six-part series explores the personal and professional lives of DC Janet Scott (Lesley Sharp) and DC Rachel Bailey (Suranne Jones), both members of Syndicate 9, a division of Manchester Metropolitan Police.
Janet is subtle, reliable and a diplomatic thinker with a wry sense of humour, which makes her the perfect foil for Rachel. She has two daughters and is in a marriage that can often feel like nothing more than a convenient arrangement to both her and her husband. Behind her straight facade is a woman who is capable of infidelity and has suffered an emotional breakdown over the murder of a childhood friend, an event which drove her to join the police force.
Rachel is energetic, impulsive, and bold. Her intuition makes her a great cop, although her boss unfairly views her as a liability. Often burning the candle at both ends, Rachel's spur of the moment ideas and vulnerability often lead to disaster in her private life and subsequent law breaking of her own.
Both competent and ambitious, neither women suffer fools, and despite their obvious differences, they draw on each other's strengths every day to deal with the extreme and horrific crimes committed over love, hatred and revenge. Homepage

Another good episode with Rachel arresting the teenage murderer when she recognised his watch from CCTV footage but then finding out he had done it before and his mother had hidden his blood stained cloths was diabolical but she payed the ultimate price when the latest victims son set fire to her home killing her daughter Author: codebreaker Time: 6-13-2011 04:22 Subject: 1x03 Episode 3
Rachel's ex-partner who was defending Georgios Stelikos was interesting especial when he attacked Rachel's method of getting Hannah to testify and to add insult to injury he was found not guilty and all because of their pillow talk about the case. Rachel was lucky when a car narrowly ends up missing her and Rachel running after the driver after he flees the scene was impressive but discovering the next day that the crash is linked to the disturbing information she discovered about Nick’s affair with a juror was a shock but Nick getting arrested for it was great but she nearly lost her job after they found out she PNC'ed his car for her own personal use Author: codebreaker Time: 3-12-2012 14:14 Subject: 2x01 Episode 1
Rachel allowing her convicted brother Dominic to stay after he turned up at her doorstep at 11 o’clock at night was nice considering her job so asking him to find a job and put his criminal past behind him was the only thing she could do but how unfortunate he set fire to her kitchen, Janet's row with her husband because of her mother staying was terrible but giving him an ultimatum was a surprise but the Nadia knocked Rachel down and almost strangled her was a close call Author: codebreaker Time: 3-29-2012 03:07 Subject: 2x02 Episode 2

Janet learning much more than she bargained for when she finally has the interview with Geoff was interesting but he did know how to push her buttons and what looks like a racially motivated murder of a 21 year-old taxi driver was tragic but the way they got the killers was great, Rachel worrying about drunk ringing her boss was amusing when it turned out to be a good idea about Geoff's case and poor Janet being stalked by Andy after their break up Author: codebreaker Time: 4-18-2012 08:01 Subject: 2x06 Episode 6

Rachel and Janet finding themselves in front of the same promotion board was great as they both passed but with Gill having to choose only one was interesting as Rachel got it only after Janet turned it down and the missing boy being reported by his boss rather than his parents made them look suspicious at first Author: codebreaker Time: 9-11-2014 12:15

Janet being unable to interview Evie Pritchard after being involved in the fatal collision with Cal Pritchard was understandable but her reporting to the press after smelling alcohol on Gill's breath was going to make things awkward as it gave her the ammunition she needs to discredit Gill from the case but Rachel wiping the smile of her face with the fingerprints on the gun was great Author: codebreaker Time: 4-11-2016 11:27
Mary's first words to Rachel was uncalled for and the new girl trying to join in the meeting room banter was amusing and what a discovery that the murder was linked to ten or more others that were photographed or videoed and posted on-line, Janet's daughter being arrested for distributing indecent images was surprising Author: codebreaker Time: 4-22-2016 10:13 Subject: 5x02 Episode 2

Rachel was a little to calm about having the tag outside her house and she was lucky to of not lost the baby after that attack but Janet's attempt to help Taisie could be seen as entrapment
