They have one cause. Leave no urban legend untested.

b]Mythbusters is a reality show that premiered in January 2003.

ABOUT MYTHBUSTERS:
So. You're minding your own business, filling up your gas tank, when your cell phone rings. Hmmm. Should you answer it? Because you've heard you shouldn't use cell phones near gas stations since they can produce small sparks that can ignite big fires. But wait. Could that actually be true? Sounds like a job for MythBusters! It's a tough job separating truth from urban legend, but the MythBusters are here to serve. Each week special-effects experts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman take on three myths and use modern-day science to show you what's real and what's fiction. That's right, they do more than explain how something may or may not be scientifically possible. Through trial and error they actually demonstrate it.

CAST:

Jamie Hyneman

Host
Jamie has a lot of talents: wilderness survival expert, boat captain, diver, linguist, animal wrangler, machinist and chef, to name a few. He worked for years making special effects for shows and commercials, and he has a lot of experience.Jamie is the smartest member of the team, and you can see that at every moment and thing he does, going from his effective designs and machines to his calm attitude when he has to face the difficult situations that take place during the show. Adam and Jamie make an almost perfect team. While Adam does the hard work, Jamie makes the awesome designs of the machines. They are really good friends and they usually work together without problems. It's important to mention that even if they are very good friends, Jamie usually argues with Adam. Most times, Jamie is right and he almost never loses his calm attitude against the tough situation, so he forgets about the arguments soon. Jamie is considerably more mature than Adam and deals with the problems easily. Besides this small arguments, Jamie doesn't have problems with Adam and they never have a strong fight nor hurt the feelings of the other.Jamie usually competes against Adam, and he almost always wins. This is mainly for two reasons: Jamie's designs are more simple, effective and cheap and Jamie never cheats. In few words, Jamie is the smart, experienced one who designs the artifacts but doesn't work as much as Adam to build them.

Adam Savage

Host
In simple words, Adam makes stuff and does the dirty job. He builds everything: exploding toilets, tree cannons, levitation machines, "Archimedes death rays", boats..., Even if he doesn't show the same finesse that Jamie has, Adam does an awesome job when he has to make something "big". He is usually the man that has to build the heavy stuff, such as the "Death Ray". Adam is very competitive with Jamie. He always wants to be better than him, but his designs are too complicated and his machines usually don't work, unless Jamie designs them and he builds them. Savage often plays the role of the funny one. Jamie is often considered funny too, but it's clear that Adam is a lot funnier than him. Adam is also a lot more spontaneous, making funny a show that could be very boring. Adam usually argues with Jamie. However, since he has less experience he usually makes mistakes and he doesn't recognize them until his argument is over, so he often loses and does what Jamie wants to do. Usually, he is who gets angry with Jamie, not vice-versa. Adam clearly has less experience than Jamie and that makes him look bad sometimes.

Tory Belleci

Himself/Builder
In 1994, after graduating from San Francisco State University's film school, he started working with Jamie Hyneman at a small production company. Tory worked as a stage manager, but quickly moved up the ranks. A few years later Tory started work at Industrial Light and Magic, building models for films including Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones. Some of his models include the pod racers and Federation battleships. Tory worked for ILM for eight years as a model builder, sculptor and painter. Other movies that you can see his work in include Starship Troopers, Galaxy Quest, T3, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and Van Helsing. Tory also has written and directed his own short films including the 1999 short Sand Trooper, which played at the Slamdance Film Festival and also aired on the Sci-Fi Channel. Tory began work on Discovery Channel's MythBusters in 2003, doing work behind the scenes and in the second season was featured as part of the show's build team. Tory is an excellent , experienced engineer who really helps to "build" the myths. While he isn't as smart or experienced as Jamie, Tory is still an almost vital part of the "Mythbuilder" team.

Grant Imahara

Himself/Builder
Electronics and radio-control specialist Grant Imahara is a former animatronics engineer and model maker for George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic, where he worked on such movies as The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence and The Matrix Reloaded. In addition to operating R2-D2 (one of only a handful of official operators), Grant has another claim to beloved-character fame: developing a custom circuit to cycle the Energizer Bunny's arm beats and ears at a constant rate. In fact, he's responsible for all the electronics installation and radio programming on the current generation of bunnies, even serving as the bunny's driver and crew supervisor on numerous commercials. While he earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, Grant actually picked up many of his mechanical skills from the machinists at the ILM model shop, many of whom date back to 1986's Howard the Duck. He's also the author of the book, Kickin' Bot: An Illustrated Guide to Building Combat Robots. His own machine, Deadblow, is a BattleBots champion that continues to strike terror into the hearts of fellow competitors.

Kari Byron

Herself/Builder
After graduating from San Francisco State and traveling the world, Kari began her career as an artist, working in sculpture and painting and holding successful exhibitions at some of San Francisco's leading galleries. "Artist" was only one of many hats she wore while searching for her place in the world. Her sculpting skills and love for odd jobs soon led her into the field of model-making and toy-prototyping, which led to a job with Jamie Hyneman at M5 Industries. It was at M5 that Kari got her first big break with the MythBusters team.During the "vacuum toilet" segment of one of the first episodes (which examined whether a person could get sucked into an airplane toilet), Jamie needed a 3-D scan of a person's backside, and Kari had the right ... well, you know. Basically, she was in the right place at the right time. The rest is history, although we'd be remiss if we overlooked Kari's former job experience as a secret martini shopper, rose delivery driver and store mannequin to foil shoplifters — just to name a few. Who knew that a degree in film and sculpture would actually be applicable to a real-life career one day?Now Kari works with the MythBusters team, using science and Yankee ingenuity to solve the mysteries of today's most compelling urban legends.
